What real-life skills have you learned playing video games?

For me, it’s been social skills. I am terminally shy and sometimes have a hard time asserting what I want or need, but after enough RPG-style games, it’s easier to have imaginary dialogue options in my head and persist until I pass the imaginary speech-check when I deal with folks.

I’ve also learned a lot about just how off my guesses are about which options will get which responses =D

Saving money is a skill I’ve helped to hone through playing a ton of RPGs. I’m terrible at just spending my money on knick-knacks, and games often remind me to save money for something more meaningful. Pretty nuts, right?

I have learned how to defuse a bomb, how to shoot with an AK-47, AWP, M4, tactic and combat skills from CS:GO.

Final Fantasy taught me a lot about social skills, standing up for what you believe in and how to count in roman numerals.
