Best remakes or remasters ever made.

Recommended Posts

Over the years we have seen some great games, some of which have become remasters and even remakes. Not every game that is remastered or remade though tends to be good but you do get some that you would say are the best remakes or remasters.

In terms of games that have been remade or remastered, which ones would you say are the best?

Resident Evil 2 Remake stands above all others for me. It perfectly captured the essence of the original while completely modernizing the gameplay, visuals, and expanding the story. The way they balanced nostalgia with fresh experiences showed incredible respect for the source material.

Some of the best remakes and remasters include Final Fantasy VII Remake, Shadow of the Colossus, and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. They truly revitalized classic games with modern graphics and gameplay, offering fresh experiences for both new and longtime fans.

If Capcom were to remake RE1 again to make it look like the other modern reimaginings we've received, I fear they may mess it up. I mean, RE1 has loads of enemies you can note down, like the big spiders. Recent remakes of RE games have usually left out the spiders, crows, and certain other creatures. But in terms of RE1 in general, some of these things actually kind of impacted the story.

After all, Forest the STARS Bravo Team member is found dead on the balcony, in the mansion. His demise came about as crows pecked him to death. But I just feel like since Capcom has altered things in the other remakes, that they'll likely do the same with a second remake of RE1.

I mean, some of this stuff is nothing to really moan about it, I guess, as it's considerably subtle. But even so. You may as well at least try to match things up in the right way, or fans will quickly notice the stuff they omit, and feel like it was just left out due to laziness.

RE3 was a big let down, sure. But there was certainly still things about RE2 they got wrong. However, in RE3, they decided to remove the ending with Barry. This was particularly lame in my view, since Barry coming to rescue Jill and Carlos in Raccoon City was what completed the dude's redemption arc, after he briefly turned on the STARS unit. Because as you may recall, Albert Wesker threatened his family, so Barry had to reluctantly go along with his orders for a while. But then he sees the light. And so that scene was very important.
