StaceyPowers Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 I have a question about the term “save scumming.” Does it only refer to saving ahead of decision points in games, and reloading to avoid negative consequences? Or does it also refer to saving in mid-combat or before a big fight to avoid having to re-do a fight when you die? What about frequent saving for other reasons, like dealing with bugs, or just out of habit?
Shortie Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 I have always known save scumming as being the term for reloading a save many times over until you get the outcome you are wanting in the game. I used to use this method a lot when I was playing more single player games often, it is a great way to keep going from that point rather than going back to the point the game would take you to if you let it.
killamch89 Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 I consider save scumming any intentional save/reload cycle to avoid consequences, whether it's failed dialogue checks, bad RNG, or combat deaths.
Scorpion Posted June 1, 2025 Posted June 1, 2025 Save scumming involves repeatedly saving before a critical decision or event, then reloading to try different outcomes until you get the desired result. It’s often used to avoid failure or ensure success, giving players more control but sometimes reducing challenge.
