Bizdustry Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 Children enjoy video games. How old should a child be before he or she is allowed to play video games? At what age would a child be considered too young to start video gaming?
killamch89 Posted June 2, 2025 Posted June 2, 2025 It depends more on the individual child than a specific age - some 5-year-olds have great focus and motor skills, while others need to wait until 8 or 9 to really enjoy and benefit from gaming.
Scorpion Posted June 2, 2025 Posted June 2, 2025 There’s no specific age to start gaming, but it's best to introduce games at a suitable age, around 6 or older. Parents should choose age-appropriate games, monitor screen time, and ensure gaming is balanced with other activities for healthy development.
ForwardSlashDownPoke Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 There wasn't really a recommended age when I was a child because there were overall far less video games, everything was new, and to some degree it was experimental and was often characterized (publicly) as a simple marketing race, with only games here and there breaking any headway. Most adults and kids just played them as they came out because it was all just new technology.
StaceyPowers Posted June 6, 2025 Posted June 6, 2025 No idea. I think my earliest gaming memories involved Tetris, but I don't know how old I was. Probably like 5.
Shortie Posted June 6, 2025 Posted June 6, 2025 I guess it depends on the maturity of the child and whether they are able to play video games from a certain age. With all my kids, they started when they were around 3 years old on games for kids and are gamers now and play games daily. It all depends on the child and when the parent feels the child is ready to play video games.
