  1. This game doesn't seem like much, but I might check it out if it's really cheap. To me it looks like a literal walking simulator. You walk around this area that looks somewhat like a pool, but the design constantly changes and gets weirder. But, there is nothing chasing you like monsters or enemies, there is no dying from what I see and no music or story. You essentially play the game with just the sounds of the game itself, like being in the water, your characters movements, the echo's in the level, etc. It kind of looks relaxing, but I can't imagine this being a huge hit. idk, is this something you'd play? Or would you pass on this sort of thing? You can download a demo on Steam if interested, looks to be coming out sometime in April - https://store.steampowered.com/app/2663530/POOLS/
  2. This is really cool news. It seems a GBA game that was cancelled three separate times is finally getting released after 22 years after being completed. That game is called Kien and was originally meant to be a release by AgeOfGames before it went to other studios. But now it's Incube8 games taking the challenge on and making the attempt to finally release this game. The game was originally set to release in 2002, making it as far as review publications before it was ultimately cancelled. It was picked up two times over and yet neither time was it officially released. More on this news here - https://www.destructoid.com/thrice-canceled-gba-game-kien-is-finally-getting-released-22-years-after-completion/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=thrice-canceled-gba-game-kien-is-finally-getting-released-22-years-after-completion
  3. Has anyone here played this arcade style boxing game? It's made by Purple Tree S R L and look to be heavily inspired by Punch out. The gameplay looks similar, but I really am digging the art style they went with. It's been out since September, but seems to have gone under the radar a bit, as today was the first time I heard of it.
  4. Contra is back baby, anyone here picking up the new game? It's dropping tomorrow for The Switch, PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. I hear the reviews are praising it for going back to the style of gameplay the series is known for. Is this a day one buy for you?
  5. The Resistance series was a huge IP for Sony back in the PS3, PSP and PS Vita eras, but fans haven't seen anything new in the series since 2012's Resistance: Burning Skies which released on the PS Vita. But, there hasn't been a main console exclusive since Resistance 3 back in 2011. Do you think we're due for a sequel or a reboot maybe? Maybe they will remaster the series or remake them, that seems to be a big thing with studios lately. Anyway, what would you like to see the Resistance series go? Will it ever come back?
  6. This is some sad news to share, as it looks like all Adult Swim games will be delisted from digital storefronts by this May, as their parent company Warner Bros Discovery have decided to delist all Adult Swim games, and possibly others in their catalog. Team2Bit, the makers of Fist Puncher tried to work with Warner Bros about releasing the game back to them through the Steam publisher account, but they claimed they weren't going to do that as they don't have the resources to do so. So from the sounds of all of this, is that a lot of these Adult Swim games can no longer be purchased starting sometime in May. You can view the full list of games affected by this news via the link below: https://delistedgames.com/as-more-developers-confirm-it-looks-likely-that-all-adult-swim-games-titles-will-be-removed-by-may/
  7. Dragon's Dogma 2 is coming out this March, the 22nd to be exact. The first Dragon's Dogma dropped in 2012, so it's been a long time coming. A new video released showing off the new game, including some of the new mechanics. Also you can download the character creator right now for free, so you can get started on creating your character. You can download it on all platforms including steam below: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2054970/Dragons_Dogma_2/ You guys checking it out when it releases? I never played the first game, but hear it was pretty good.
  8. Remember the game Stranglehold? It was a John Woo style story within a video game. It stars Chow Yun-fat who was often features in John Woo movies. Anyway, this game was pretty much an early release for the PS3 and Xbox 360. I played through the game on the 360 many years ago, but never finished it as one of the last bosses I faced was far too OP and I just gave up. Anyway, what I did play was actually quite fun. I liked using the bulletime effects, as some shots you could direct towards an enemy and see a cool kill cam similar to the later a Sniper Elite games. It's a game I would love to see remade or remastered one day. I'd re-play it if they fix some of the boss battles.

    Reveil

Check out the trailer for Reveil, a new game that is said to be a narrative first-person psycho-thriller with the focus on story, puzzles and exploration. It just released on the 6th for the PS5. And the cool thing about this, is that it's only $20.
  10. Found this on reddit recently and thought it'd be fun to share here. I guess The Simpsons Game from 2007, had different style of cover art for each version of the game. So the 360, PS3, DS, PS2, etc all had different covers. You can view them below. Did you ever know about this? This was news to me.
  11. I remember when the first Shellshock game came out, but never played it. I heard good things about the first game, and always wanted to pick it up, but never made the push to get it. The first game in the series was Shellshock: Nam '67 a traditional style third person military shooter that takes place during the Vietnam war. I knew a friend who owned it growing up and I remember watching him playing it during a sleepover. And then following that, they released Shellshock 2: Blood Trails, which I hear had some horror themed elements, but instead of it being in third person, they instead went with FPS style gameplay. The story also takes inspiration from real stories during the Vietnam war, but they also make some aspects of the story up. Especially if there are horror elements in this one. But, I hear it was critically worse than the original game and nothing came afterwards. Do you think we could one day see a revival of this franchise? Or is it pretty much dead?
  12. The first Lost Planet game was a decent hit, but the sequels to follow kept getting worse according to the ratings and fan opinions. I have not played any of the games in the series, but I'm sure there is a game worth checking out in the first one, maybe even the last two that released. The series hasn't done anything since LP: 3 back in 2013, but I think the death nail was the fact Capcom didn't develop it, instead Spark Unlimited did and it looks like most of the crew from the first two games weren't part of development. I'm sure Capcom owns the right to the series, so could they revive it somehow? I'm sure fans of the first game would love to revisit it. They could also reboot the series, starting from scratch.
  13. I got a copy of Stoked on 360, but I don't recall if I ever played it once. I was looking through my 360 games recently and wanted to find a game to play through next and realized I was in the mood for some snowboarding games. I have SSX, but didn't care for the reboot, so I am thinking I will finally give Stoked a try, but I want to hear some opinions on it first. Was it an okay snowboarding game at release? There isn't that many snowboarding games out there anymore. I wish we'd get more SSX games, but I don't see EA going back there for a while. Anyway, is Stoked worth playing?
  14. If you're a fan of the Advanced Wars series, you might like Athena Crisis, as it's said to be heavily inspired by it. I have not played an Advanced Wars game myself, but I am aware there is a huge fandom around them. Athena Crisis released on Steam a couple days ago in early access and it is said to have 7-player skirmishes, and a map editor. This early access version also includes a prequel campaign to start you off. Check out the trailer below. I'm really taking a liking to the style of graphics they went with.
  15. Has anyone here played New Star GP? It's an arcade racing game with retro style visuals that came out in early access last summer. It's still in early access on Steam but looks to be making an official release on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch tomorrow. I like the idea of playing a modern racer with retro style visuals, I can see it bringing me back to when I played the original Gran Turismo, or games like Test Drive and maybe Daytona USA.
  16. Here is a first look for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleased video games, which is expected to release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch or PC via Windows and Steam. There is no official release date as of yet, but they say it will likely be Q4 of 2024. So not too long to wait if it's not delayed or changed before then. The game will follow the recent movie that came out and from the sounds of it, it will be a somewhat open world 3D action platformer. They say you can explore the New York City via the streets, sewers below and even up the many skyscrapers, so maybe it'll be similar in scope to the recent Spider-Man games. It will also have single player and two-player co-op. Kind of sad there is no mention of 4 player co-op online, would kind of expect that considering there being 4 turtles. Maybe they will add more details on multiplayer at a later date. The link below also shows off some screenshots of the game in action, no trailer yet from what I can see though. 17. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty had an interesting idea for a first person shooter. Taking place in an alternate reality of early 1950s, where Germany and Japan won WWII and the US is fighting off an invasion of Nazi's. But, the game was a major flop on release, and was forgotten soon after. I got the game from a game trading site a long time ago, played it for maybe an hour or two and that was it. It was pretty bad. It got bad reviews across the board as well, and I guess the devs called out the bad reviews saying the game was meant for casual gamers and not hardcore gamers, and said the hardcore gamers were too hard on the game. That is mentioned here - https://www.ign.com/articles/2008/03/13/hudsons-low-wii-expectations I'm sure some of you have played it. Did anyone here get into it? From what I played, it didn't feel like a game that was supposed to be released on a console of said generation. It played and looked like a game from a previous generation. This released on the 360, and looked like a Xbox original game.
  18. Source - https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2024/03/05/gravity-rush-2-remastered-ps5-pc-report/ There's news saying that Gravity Rush 2 might be getting a remaster on the PS5 and PC. It's also said it could be a way to help promote the upcoming Gravity Rush movie, which I had no idea was a thing. Gravity Rush 2 released on the PS4 back in 2017, but was not a very big commercial success according to the article. This could be a way to try getting more eyes on it. And if there is a movie coming out soon, it would be a great time to promote it. I see they remastered the first game for the PS4 as it was originally a PS Vita game. I'd love for them to do another remaster of the first game for the PS5 and PC as well. I'm sure they could do some more for it. Who here has played Gravity Rush 2? Do you think it needs a remaster?
  19. Xbox will be putting on another short presentation of another Partner Preview tomorrow. It will be a 30+ minute show that will features upcoming games from studios from EA and Capcom. Some of the games they mention on the announcement are; Tales of Kenzera: Zau, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and The First Berserker: Khazan. Nexcon was another studio mentioned via a Comicbook article here - https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/xbox-partner-preview-ea-capcom/ It will be taking place 10AM PT | 1PM ET | 6PM GMT and you can watch it via YouTube (Embeded below) and Twitch - http://twitch.tv/Xbox More on the partner preview here - https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2024/03/04/xbox-partner-preview-march-2024-announce/
  20. I believe we'll get a new Borderlands game eventually. Whether it be called Borderlands 4, or go with a completely different title to establish a new trilogy, I am willing to bet Gearbox has a roadmap where Borderlands is part of their lives for the next 10-20 years. This franchise can expand off into spin-offs as well, which with Gearbox behind the development, I think fans will flock to it. CEO Randy Pitchford has recently brought up news about a mystery project he is doing, saying it could will surpass past Gearbox accomplishments. Fans are thinking this next big game will be Borderlands 4, or a new game in the Borderlands universe. Or could they be going back into their catalog for their next project? Could it be a completely new IP even? More on this news here - https://gamerant.com/borderlands-4-tease-gearbox-ceo-randy-pitchford/
  21. There are rumors going around saying that AMD's new AI upscaling tech will be a part of the yet to be announced PS5 Pro. I am okay when AI is used to help make graphics pop more, that's fine. I don't like when AI is used to create everything. Upscaling to me, sounds exactly what these new AI tools should be used for. Making things look better, work better, etc. If this does happen, I wonder what Xbox's answer would be. We know Microsoft is using AI a lot these days, so I wouldn't doubt they do something, or have something similar planned with the next Series X|S and their future consoles. What do you think about the use of AI for upscaling and making other small improvements? Still, they are just rumors, so it could end up being bs. I'm sure we'll get a PS5 Pro at some point. The article below also discusses that Sony has been in talks with "midsize third-party partners" behind the scenes, which could mean the Pro gets unveiled soon. Read more on this news here - https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2024/03/05/ps5-pro-specs-ai-upscaling-amd-hint/
  22. The newest Thief game came out back in 2014 and didn't live up to the hype. Well I don't think there was much hype for that game to begin with, so it was never really going to do good. Anyway, I played a bit of the last Thief game, but got bored with it rather quickly. I know the original Thief games were popular, so much so that didn't it inspire games like Dishonored? Which I think I eventually went back to after playing Thief (2014). Do you think we'll ever see a Thief sequel or another reboot of the franchise? The crazy thing is, that it's been a little over 10 years since the rebooted Thief came out, so we're kind of due for something. They could also do remakes of the original trilogy.
  23. I didn't know there was already a Nintendo Switch emulator, but I suppose if it's the one emulator Nintendo takes down, it's going to be this one. Yuzu, the people behind said emulator, was recently sued by Nintendo for what they say is "facilitating piracy at a colossal scale." The team behind Yuzu immediately backed off and closed the program, and will be paying $2.4 million to settle this lawsuit. I can see why this one didn't survive long, considering the Switch is still a fairly relevant console and still highly purchased. So if there's an emulator out there, people will find ways of abusing it. And Nintendo isn't going to allow people to circumvent ways of playing popular switch titles. Do you think this could hurt emulators for older consoles? Or is this mainly due to the Switch being a current gen console? Read the full story about this here - https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/gaming/nintendo-switch-emulator-yuzu-will-utterly-fold-and-pay-24m-to-settle-its-lawsuit/ar-BB1jjERB
  24. Source - https://www.chithot.com/21909/the-7-best-sega-cd-games-and-how-to-play-them-today/ I sadly never owned a Sega CD or played the few games that came out for it. I've heard about some of the releases, but don't know a whole lot. Well it looks like someone made a list of the 7 best Sega CD Games and ways of how you can play them today. A lot of the games on this list have been re-released on PC and modern consoles, so if you don't own a Sega CD, you can play these games elsewhere. I will list the games they discussed below. Sonic CD Lunar: The Silver Star Snatcher Shining Force CD Earthworm Jim: Special Edition Popful Mail They also list the Mega-CD BIOS Collection, but that's meant for emulation. So really this list is for 6 games. Read the full article above to find out more details on where you can find these games for sale.
  25. I know the majority of 3D style Sonic games, including their spin-offs, were pretty bad. One that I remember vaguely is Shadow the Hedgehog. I have a copy of the game on the PS2, but I have never played it. Picked it up from a thrift store years ago and forgot I had it until recently. I looked at reviews for the time it was released, and they weren't good reviews. Has anyone here played it, and if so, how is it? Would it be worth playing it? I have considered bringing out my PS2 to play it, but idk if I really want to put myself through that if the game is actually awful. It released on the PS2, Xbox and GameCube back in 2005.
