I think the game I've replayed the most is Final Fantasy X, I think I've bought it like 6 times!
I know exactly what you're talking about there. I'm the same way with FF8. I don't know how many times I've bought the game, and I'm playing and replaying it constantly. I just got it in a twin pack with FF7 for my Switch in the mail a couple days ago. Right now I'm sitting on like 4 copies of the game, and a few collectible versions of the players guides. I don't need the guides, but hey I'm a FF8 nut.

Shovel Knight on PS4. It has the same 16 bit graphic style as what you would see on SNES. I think Links Awakening on Switch can fit this topic. It came out a lifetime ago, but they decided to tweak it and update the graphics and now we have an amazingly crisp version to play. A lot of the remasters should come into play here too.

I got an Xbox One. GameStop was selling them for $99, so I picked one up. Nevermind that I've hated Xbox since the first one. But I figured I would give it another chance since there has been a couple new generations. I've always been a Nintendo fan, but I hated GameCube and wasn't a particularly big fan of Wii. So I figured what the hell.

There is a Hexen II, but it’s all but impossible to find. I haven’t found it anywhere, including online in more than 20 years. I’ve tried calling classic game dealers all around the state and in bordering states. No luck. I’m 10 hours from Chicago and I struck out at every place I called there. I was willing to make the drive to buy it, or pay a hefty sum to get it shipped. I’m thinking of checking out places in LA and NY. Those are most likely my best options considering the size of the cities.

I never would have thought of Mr. Rogers.

I remember back when N64, PS1, and Xbox were all going head to head everyone had their favorite console. That was natural amongst gamers. What I saw all too often was the differing opinions come to blows. I have always been a Nintendo fan ever since NES came out. But when a PlayStation kid and Nintendo kid start beating the shit out of each other, and then both turn on the Xbox kid, that's where I get lost. You like different systems. Good for you, or fuck you. Whichever you prefer. The one time someone tried to pick a fight with me over consoles I cracked her in the face with a shovel. No one bothered me personally after that. But why? If I don't want to play an Xbox, I have the right to not play the damn Xbox. If you don't want to play on my Nintendo, then you have the right to not play on my Nintendo. Why is that so hard to understand? Different consoles, different capabilities, different options, different everything. I have a real hard time picturing Castlevania SOTN on a cartridge. Can you picture FF7 on N64? Neither can I. Don't even get me started where Halo and COD would be without Xbox.
But was literally drawing blood really a requirement to like a different console than the kid standing next to you? I've never been tolerant of stupidity, or willing to even try to understand it because I refuse to insult myself. But this was next level stupid, as well as bat shit crazy. Does anyone else remember this?

Just going by the picture, the first thing that came to my mind was Riven.

@skyfire That would be Hexen.

I would say a part of it would be because they're less constrained. With children they would have to be careful to make sure there's nothing "inappropriate" in the game. Think of all the sexual scandals Disney has had with their movies. Whereas with adults, they can make a game with whatever the hell comes to mind, and unless it's just a shitty game, no one will complain. Take Banjo Kazooie on N64 vs The Witcher 3. BK was a cutesy kiddie games. You run around as a bear/bird combo collecting puzzle pieces to save the bears little sister from having her beauty stolen by an ugly witch. The Witcher 3 however....not so kiddie. Even Conker's Bad Fur day initially started off as a childrens game, until the writers decided to get a little kinky. So adult games are limitless, and childrens games are very limited. Especially in this day and age with all the SJW bullshit going on.

I have the Switch Lite, and the only difference I’ve found between it and the first Switch is that the Lite doesn’t support a vibration function. It has it in the system settings, but it hasn’t activated in any of the games I’ve played on mine yet. For example, in Links Awakening when you get the seashell detector, it’s supposed to both chime and vibrate. It does both on the Switch, but only chimes on the Lite. And it’s the same with all games. So if you can live without small things like that, then you shouldn’t have any problem.

Smooth as silk, with graphics I would never have imagined from a handheld system, as well as a game that runs on such a small game cartridge.

I'm curious. How do I "rad into and debate with maturely"? I think if you want to type in English, you should first learn English.
Hence, incoherent inane babbling.

As always the closest I can come is AOE2. Pure and simple one of the best PC games ever released.

No affects. I'm the same as I ever was. Gaming hasn't changed any part of me.

It doesn't surprise me. Gaming can often lessen stress for a lot of us. With me for example, I have to have my hands occupied or I'll start stressing out severely. Video games take care of that plus my eyes and ears. Assuming I have the sound on. I tried fidget spinners, and rolling a throwing star back and forth through my fingers, as well as "juggling" a knife in one hand. That didn't really cut it. No pun intended. Something that covers eyes, ears, and hands and has a goal is what it takes for me. Otherwise, things get a bit, shall we say, crazy, with me.

I obviously hit a nerve.
Interesting.

Shagger you missed the point entirely.
I was here in the early days of Atari. I remember playing games like Pitfall and Pac Man. I remember them being the pinnacle of video graphics. The point of this post was not to debate game ratings. Game ratings have nothing to do with anything here. My intent with this thread was how game companies are no longer focusing on children. the look at adults. They create games that are what adults want to see. A 4 year old will most likely have no interest in Skyrim. Or even be able to play it for that matter.
Make sure you understand the post next time. I've read your posts across the forum, and your incoherent babbling is starting to get annoying.
Games with a 90s flavor that aren't from the 90s?

You could also check out Tiny Barbarians on Switch. But graphically, it may be more of a mid to early 80's looking game. Either way it's still fun as hell.
