What games provide the best commentary on the social and political issues of our times, whether directly or indirectly?

I can't really say for sure but I believe that call of duty game series and also battlefield have a little thing to say about the political and social situations of our time.

I'll always go for EA FIFA on that, they always quite on history things around the game. It's analysis are top notch, but the game-play marred with bugs let them down.

I honestly don't know. If you're referring to commentary about politics, life and so on, then I think the only thing that comes close is war games. But I think most games generally throw in some kind of nod to what's happening in the world. Games like Life is Strange, and Tell me Why come to mind, because they kinda bring up things happening in our world. Movies and TV to the same, in that they tie some of reality into their programming.

Most video games about outbreaks, viruses and diseases have some sort of political line underneath which tells stories of what happens in our society. Some games that are notable in this are; Deus Ex, Tom Clancy's The Division 2, The Last Of Us (PS3, 2013), and Bloodborne.
