Do you neglect your character’s “wellbeing” in games where it is optional?

In games where eating, sleeping, wearing the right clothes, etc confer a minor benefit, but can be neglected with zero consequence, do you bother doing those things?

If the wellbeing of my character in such a game doesn't affect my gameplay, I wouldn't care so much about it but being that I don't like seeing my character lacking in any way, I always make sure things are good with it.

I so much love those kind of realistic games. It is a projection of the real world, I get to see the world in the game. I would make sure I take care of the character judiciously.

This is part of the reason why I enjoy playing open world game so much because it gives me so many opportunities to handle characters in such ways when playing those kind of games.

I often skip those activities unless they provide noticeable benefits. Why waste time on minor tasks when I can dive into action?

If it can be neglected without consequence, I don't pay much attention to it as it's not a priority.

This is why I often don’t pay much attention to character’s health and sanity in games that have optional permadeath. In Skyrim I don’t rest or eat unless forced to do so. That is why, minor benefits cannot compensate for such an inconvenience.

I prefer to lead character needs in the games like The Sims or Stardew Valley. It just makes it more believable and can even be used as an actual roleplaying element.

I agree. Unless it really matters, I don't pay much attention to it either.

I pay attention to character health in games with a lot of focus on survival, like Don’t Starve and the like. Food management, water management and energy management are the core necessities of life. In other games, I just don’t pay attention to these mechanics.
