Ja sa bong Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 Birds are animal of the air. They are meant to roam and fly freely. When they are kept as pets, they are being kept in captivity in my opinion. Even though I love parrots but because of this feeling, I can't keep them as pets. Do you think it's cruel keeping birds as pets?
The Blackangel Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 I don’t see it being cruel. I’ve had birds for years. We had a macaw and conure, but they got stolen. Right now I have 2 doves. @Rain Dew and I are looking for another macaw. The last one was so sweet that she walked into the bedroom from the front room looking for me one night. I really miss her. The conure I had since she was a hatchling, and I had her for years. As for the cruelty aspect, the same could be said for anything that isn't a human. We also have dogs, rats, and even a dragon. The less I’m around people, the better.
killamch89 Posted May 8, 2025 Posted May 8, 2025 Have to agree with @The Blackangel here. It's definitely not cruelty at all. I used to have a parrot when I was much younger and he was well-fed and well taken care of.
Shortie Posted May 10, 2025 Posted May 10, 2025 If someone was to take a wild bird in and keep it as a pet, then I would say that is cruel due to the fact that bird is used to being out in the wild, not to mention it could have a family. Birds such as budgies, parrots, cockatiels, parrots and such, if they were brought up as pets, I don't see why they could not be kept as pets.
