  1. Lets say you were at a yard sale and saw an extremely rare game that worth a lot, going for next to nothing. Would you buy it in a heartbeat and leave with a win? Or would you let the person selling said game know what they have? Lets say they have sometime rare, like Little Samson on the NES and they are only asking $5 for it. I think I'd be guilty just paying $5, but I doubt I could afford to purchase a game that could be well over $2000 or more. And in some cases I hear it's worth up to $17,000. So yeah, there would be some guilt if I found a Little Sampson game at a yard sale. With that being said, have you ever purchased a rare game from anywhere for cheap? If so, what game was it?
  2. When it comes to the games you do play, do you tend to rate them or maybe even give them a review? I judge games that I play, but I don't really rate or do reviews for them. At least not for myself. I imagine there are some people out there who rate and review games just because. Do you rate/review all of the games you play? If you have a catalog of ratings and reviews, would you ever share them? Or maybe start doing professional reviews for any future games you do play?
  3. If you have a bunch of clips and screenshots on your Xbox One, Series S or X consoles, you have until tomorrow to save them. Starting Jan 9th, users will have 90 days after taking a screenshot or clip to save them before they are deleted. Once the 90s days are up, any non-saved content will be deleted. I don't think I have any clips or screenshots not saved. Most of what I liked was saved, but there may be some clips and screenshots that weren't saved and I don't think I can access them unless I have a working xbox, to which I don't lol. Oh well. Anyway, you still have a day to save your content on Xbox. More on this news here - https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/xbox-one-series-x-delete-captures/
  4. A while back I decided to clean my Xbox One as it was starting to shut down after a while of gaming. I took it apart by following a guide online, cleaned the sucker pretty good and even put on new thermal paste for the CPU. Sadly the damn thing got no power. I thought maybe I put it together wrong, or the xclamp wasn't properly on, idk. It just wouldn't start. So I was wondering, should I send it in to get repaired by some console repair specialist or something? Or would it just be better to buy a new/used Xbox One instead? I've checked Facebook marketplace and Ebay a few times, prices are pretty low for a used Xbone, but idk if I want to buy a used one. And new ones are still kind of high in price. My only other option is to just move on and stick to PC gaming until I eventually get a new gen console.
  5. I've been hearing rumors that Microsoft is working on yet another console, I mean, that's sort of to be expected at this point. The Series X and S are closing in on their 4 year mark this November. Most console generations have lasted around 5 years or so, so we're getting closer to the inevitable end. The Xbox One lasted for 7 years, but I don't know if the series x and s will last as long. Anyway, this isn't about when we can expect a new Xbox console, but what the name could end up being. The Xbox brand has had a ton of weird console names. From the 360, to the Xbox One, to the Series X and S. There's no clear idea of what the next console could be named. Could it be a new "Series something", or maybe they'll go back to basics and just call it Xbox like I had hoped they would before the Xbone came out. What do you think a new Xbox console could be called?
  6. I'm surprised no one has posted this here before. Has anyone here gone through the Archive.org list of DOS games? They have amassed a pretty sizable list of old DOS games that you can legally download for free, some out of copyright and in the public domain, and some are added for preservation. A lot of the games are likely no longer playable unless you have a PC and the game handy. You can access the list of DOS games here if interested: https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_msdos_games They do offer downloads for other PCs and consoles. Do you know of other sites that you can legally download old video game media like Archive does? I believe they also have archives of old gaming magazines you can look at too.
  7. Source - https://www.ign.com/articles/star-citizen-introducing-a-48000-ship-bundle-but-only-for-players-who-have-already-spent-10000 I knew this game was expensive, but damn are they asking for a lot. If you happen to be one of the lucky gamers who have already spent $10,000 or more on Star Citizen, you can now purchase a nifty little ship bundle for just as little as $48,000. Yes, you heard that right, $48,000 for some ship DLC. It is called the Legatus 2953 pack and is expected to release sometime early 2024. Supposedly the bundle has a lot of vessels, over 175 of them. But still, I don't understand where they come up with these crazy prizes. What do you think about this? Do you think anyone will actually pay this? Not only that, but you're essentially paying around $58K+. Even if I was rich I wouldn't splurge like this.
  8. EA may finally be revealing more news about the upcoming EA Sports College Football game this Monday during the CFP Championships between Washington and Michigan. I know most people here aren't too into American football, but I do want to see these games become good sports games again, same with Madden. Back in the day they were actually fun to play, these days Madden games are yearly rehashes that don't change much. I am worried that this game will turn out to be yet another Madden, and will suffer the yearly release curse. EA's college sports games in the past were popular among gamers. I enjoyed a few of them myself and often preferred them over a lot of the madden games. I don't know what to expect, as I am hoping another dev team is developing the college series instead of EA Tiburon. If EA Tiburon is the dev behind the college game as well, then I think it's safe to expect a Madden clone. But, if they have another team developing it, it may have a chance to actually succeed. Read more on this news here - https://gameranx.com/updates/id/486022/article/ea-will-unveil-their-sports-college-football-game-this-monday/ I really hope the game features tons of customization too, that's a big reason why I liked their past college games.
  9. GTA V is huge with role players. I know there are people who actively role play as police officers in a GTA V server, where others can role play as career criminals. They take the role play really serious as well, and will often ban users if they cheat or break rules. I don't know if I'm one to do role playing myself, not in the way most people do. I'm not social enough to really get into it like some do. Is it fun? For me I know if I tried it out, I'd have some anxiety about it and would likely quit. I want to try it out though, as I think it could be fun, and could even be a good way to help with my social anxiety and other fears with people. Who here enjoys role playing with people in online video games? What kind of role playing do you do?
  10. Walmart is selling an Xbox Series S themed Toaster. I guess they're selling it alongside that Xbox Series X mini-fridge. The toaster is out of stock though, seems collectors already bought them all up. Or most likely scalpers. I checked Ebay and they already have them selling for around $90. Bear in mind, they are $39.99 on Walmart while in stock otherwise. You can buy the toaster here if you want (if it ever gets back in stock, don't buy from the scalpers) - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Xbox-Series-S-Toaster-2-Slice-Toaster-with-Wide-Slot-Bagel-Function-Digitial-Countdown-Timer-with-6-Shade-Settings/5113283196? The mini fridge is still in stock though if you want to check that out. More on this story here - https://www.engadget.com/you-can-now-buy-the-xbox-series-s-toaster-for-40-104548270.html Would you buy this? I don't think even for $39.99 I would, doesn't even look to fir two slices like it says it can. Looks kind of small to me. But, I know collectors are going to pick it up. But with how they still have the fridge in stock, I'm sure we'll see this back in stock soon.
  11. Yikes that's a long title. I didn't know another team was making yet another remastered version of a GTA game, this time GTA Vice City. But, I think they remade it with the Rage Engine in mind, which was used for GTA V and I think GTA IV as well right? Anyway, this looks leaps and bounds better than the GTA Trilogy Remaster we got from Rockstar and Take Two. But, knowing Rockstar, I have a feeling these devs will get a cease and desist letter soon. https://wccftech.com/grand-theft-auto-vice-city-nextgen-edition/
  12. Story - https://mp1st.com/news/unreal-engine-vr-comes-to-over-11000-pc-titles-thanks-to-free-mod This is cool if for sure true. I guess some VR modders were able to create a mod that is able to bring free VR support to over 11,000 PC titles that run on Unreal Engine 4 and 5. This would be big, as VR support for that many games as once would make any VR gamer happy. I don't even have a VR headset right now, but I know this is even more reason for me to save up and finally get one.
  13. I have met a lot of people over the years gaming online, but I have never met any of them in real life. There was one time an online friend of mine, who we met playing COD 4 or MW2, who was close to coming to my brothers graduation party. But, he never showed up. Has there ever been a time where you actually met up with someone you met playing an online video game? What was it like? Would you ever do it again?
  14. Phasmophobia is a fairly popular online game where you can hunt ghosts, but in reality you're the one who's being hunted. I can't comment about the games AI, but from what I have seen it changes based on the type of ghost attacking you. I imagine the devs use some form of AI to randomize the ghost. But I would like to see it go even further, where AI can become the ghosts in the game, to scare you at random occasions, and maybe the AI would speak to you as if it was a ghost, saying names, key words, clues, etc. I know AI is a hot subject and it's kind of a mixed bag. Some are for it and want to see AI used in more games, while others are against it as it could result in people losing their jobs to AI. I am in the middle. It's already got bad vibes from AI art and how it uses real art to come up with those creations. But I mainly want AI that adds to the game. AI that isn't an integral part of the game or a main focus. I think AI used in ghost games to replicate what ghosts do, I think would be cool. It makes sense to use AI in that sense instead of using it to create something that could end up taking someone's job, like AI art in my view, does. I'm willing to bet that more devs will be using AI to help with their graphics. I like AI when it's used in character interaction, but if there is a risk of real actors losing jobs to it, than I am not for it. I think using AI to aid in your game is fine, as long as it's not creating the whole thing. Sorry for the ramble there. But what do you think? Would you like to see a ghost themed game that uses AI to add to the spook factor? To randomize the events every time you play? That's what I see AI being good for.
  15. Some bad news to share, as 10 Ubisoft games will have their servers shut down on January 25th, the list of games are listed below: Assassin's Creed 2 - Xbox 360 Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - MAC Assassin's Creed Liberation HD - PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 Assassin's Creed Revelations - PC Ghost Recon Future Soldier - PC Heroes of Might and Magic 6 - PC NCIS - PC R.U.S.E - PC Splinter Cell: Conviction - Xbox 360 Trials Evolution - PC Makes sense for the PS3 and 360 servers, but sucks to see it happen for PC too. Of course, most of these games probably don't matter to most fans, especially the AC games, as I remember some of their online modes being boring and forgotten about soon after. But I imagine there might be a dedicated fanbase that may still play some of these games online. I just hope that gamers can set up their own custom servers for these games if they want to. I'm sure some people out there can figure out how to bring some of these games back online. People have done it with EA games in the past. We knew the servers would be shut down eventually, but I'm sure if people really want to continue playing these games online, they will find solutions to bring them back online via private servers or other methods like modding. Read the full article here - https://gamerant.com/ubisoft-games-servers-shut-down-january-2024-list/
  16. For those who don't know, the Razzies are an award show for movies and maybe tv shows as well. It's not your typical award show, as it's essentially awards for the worst reviewed movies of the year, along with awards for the worst actors, worst story, etc. Some of the nominees even go to the show and accept their awards, like Halle Berry did for Catwoman. Is there a version of the Razzies out there, but for video games? I would love to see an award show bash the likes of The Day Before, Gollum, That King Kong game, The recent Walking Dead game, and a slew of other stinkers from 2023. What would you give worst game of 2023 to? Worst voice acting? Worst graphics? Worst gameplay? Would you be down for an award show that is for the bad games?
  17. Story - https://www.thesun.co.uk/tech/25232921/blue-scuti-tetris-nes-completed/ I didn't know this, but I guess Tetris is nearly impossible to beat. Computers up to this point, were the only things able to finish Tetris. Technically, Tetris doesn't have an official ending, it's said you can keep playing the game until you lose, but if you continue to play, you could end up hitting a blue screen of death, and that's actually what you want to do. Some people have reached the high score, but no one has reached the blue screen of death like this kid did. It's crazy that it took this long for someone to beat it.
  18. Take this with a grain of salt, as this is from a possible leak and likely just rumors at this time. But if true, it's being said that the Nintendo Switch 2 could be unveiled soon, along with a little treat, as there is rumors of a Bayonetta Trilogy dropping as an exclusive. Though I hear it could play on the regular switch, but you won't be able to take advantage of any of the updated graphics and visuals the Switch 2 can handle. I'm even hearing we might see a reveal by March. Check out ReviewTechUSA's reporting on the story below, and more details at this article - https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/shopping/nintendo-switch-2-could-be-unveiled-by-march-and-get-a-must-play-exclusive/ar-AA1mmuB4 Oh, and here's the twitter post in regards to it: https://twitter.com/NWeedle/status/1740514814886294002?s=20
  19. I am not too big on the zombie survival games these days, it feels like we're seeing a bit too many of them these days, but this looks to change it up a tad bit. In this one, you can take control of the zombies and make them into zombots, so they can do your dirty work if needed. It kind of looks like that Project Zomboid, as it's an open world sandbox survival horror game with zombies. But I don't think in that game you could control the zombies or use them for your advantage. The game also has building mechanics where you can create buildings and all that fun stuff to protect from the zombies and other enemies. It looks kind of fun, but I am not expecting much from it.
  20. Story - https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/ncsofts-project-skyline-rumoured-to-be-horizon-mmo-in-the-works-for-pc-and-unreal-engine-5 This is pretty cool news if you're a fan of the Horizon games. I guess Ncsoft, the publishers of Guild Wars, is hard at work producing an MMORPG in the world of Horizon. The project is codenamed Project Skyline and is said to run on Unreal Engine 5, and will be for PC & mobile, while a PS5 release has yet to be confirmed. Though I would expect this to make it on the PS5 as well. Because it is said to be a Horizon game, so would make sense if it released on the PS5. Could you see yourself playing an MMORPG in the Horizon: Zero Dawn world?
  21. Thank goodness, I would hate to see CD Projekt Red purchased up by someone like Microsoft. Because who knows what could become of the studio if they got their grubby hands on them. But, it's good to know they aren't interested in being acquired or taken over. They want to maintain their independence. Plus I think with GOG, and their catalog of games, they're perfectly fine and don't need to be sold off. Do you think that could change down the road? Or will CD Projekt Red hold strong and never sell? Source - https://www.gamespot.com/articles/cd-projekt-red-is-not-interested-in-being-acquired/1100-6520072/
  22. Found this article on gamerant here - https://gamerant.com/battlefield-bad-company-remakes-yes-no/ It discusses if EA should start to remake some of their classic battlefield games, like the Battlefield: Bad Company games. The current franchise isn't doing so hot for Dice and EA right now, so maybe going back a bit would be good? What do you think? I haven't liked Battlefield in a while, and I remember playing one of the Bad Company games and really enjoying it. I can see fans coming back to the franchise if they tried doing what worked in the past.
  23. Have you ever played a game where you skipped all cutscenes and don't bother to follow the story? Has there ever been a game where you only wanted to play because of its gameplay? For me I would probably have to say the Just Cause games. Each game I couldn't get into the story, so I'd often just skip the cutscenes for the majority of the game. Have you ever done this for a game because you just didn't find the story compelling enough? There have been other games where I likely skipped a few cutscenes, but most games I tend to let the game play out as it should.
  24. Kojima is hard at work for 2024. He's got a new Death Stranding in the works, and is obviously working on OD, the new Xbox exclusive title that was revealed at the game awards last month. He also intends to work on the Death Stranding movie he has been talking about, wonder how that's going to turn out. But yeah, 2024 is going to be interesting. I wonder if we can expect anymore news on DS and OD in the coming months. https://twitter.com/HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN/status/1741588777410375912?s=20
  25. Has anyone here purchased any of those faceplates for their PS5? Doesn't Sony make their own custom faceplates? I know dbrand got in some hot water for making their own custom faceplates, so they had to change their designs to not match that of the PS5s. Do you have any interest in buying a custom faceplate or even a Sony made one? I guess if the prices are right, I would consider it, but I'd have to get my hands on a PS5 first. :D Who here has changed their faceplate? Would you get a sony branded one, or go off brand and try something like drbrand or another brand even?
