  1. That’s really cool. That also led me to reading about this mouth-controlled joystick: https://www.quadstick.com/shop/quadstick-fps-game-controller. Fingers crossed from me as well. I don’t mind telling you that if I had your condition, it would scare the hell out of me. I hope that slow drip is as slow as possible. Playing Dark Souls as a form of self-punishment is a running joke pretty much everywhere. I also find it strange that there is so little talk about how gaming might reduce violent behaviour by offering a safe means of catharsis as well as a generally relaxing outlet each day.
  2. That pretty much sums up my view of this issue. I also think that there is a nuance in this topic which we keep bringing up, but not necessarily pointing out, which is a difference between "difficulty" and "accessibility." I mean, even on an "easy" mode, Sekiro/Souls/etc probably would never really be playable/accessible for me because the entire structure and play style of the game doesn't suit my abilities. Both my executive function and performance anxiety will always get in the way along with my general personality. I don't think a dev can do anything about that--that would be one of those impossible challenges @DylanC mentioned. But I still don't see a problem with providing an "easy" mode so that those who could feasibly get something great out of playing a game like Sekiro or Souls on a lower skill level can enjoy it. I also don't think it should be a requirement, but I see no good reason not to do it. Mostly, I am bothered by arguments which boil down to, "My enjoyment of this hard game is contigent upon others not being able to beat it on their level." It seems most sensible (and decent) to derive enjoyment from one's own experience, not from another person being deprived of their lower-skill equivalent of that experience.
  3. I can (as usual) relate. I also vastly prefer physical over digital in principle, but my lack of physical space and occasional impatience (and nice deals online) mean I have a fair amount of digital content as well. I do recommend popping in at local used video game stores now and again if you have any nearby! This saves money and gets you around shipping and impatience. You drop in, see something you want, and play it that night on a physical disc!
  4. All of that ... shouting ... is making people nervous!
  5. What alternate universe?
  6. That was such a gray area in the MMO I used to play. I mean, the guy I knew who got banned for protecting my friend in the game was a homophobic bully himself. My friend was a lesbian, and he ended up losing his character to defend her from harassment. A lot of people were willing to overlook the admin's actions because he was such a pain in the ass himself. It didn't make the admin right, but I did see where they were coming from. The joys of the internet ...
  7. To say I'd be furious would be an understatement.
  8. Sounds like me growing up. Did my homework on the weekdays so I'd have my weekends free.
  9. Ohhh, I used to have one of those ages ago! I remember now. Thanks!
  10. @skyfire @killamch89 Great, thanks for the suggestions!
  11. Oh, also, do you use NSAIDs at all? I've read that Mucuna Pruriens can pair badly with them from a bleeding standpoint.
  12. Oh wow. I’ve researched Mucuna Pruriens a bit, but I’ve never met anyone who has tried it! I haven’t yet because it looks like some potent stuff, and I don’t want to mess my body/brain up in any way. But I’ve always wanted to chat with someone about it who has used it. What dosage do you take, and on what schedule? Do you use it steadily, or cycle it on and off? No side effects? Does it mess with your sleep at all? And if by any chance you do have pain issues, have you noticed any improvements? Thanks! :)
  13. Totally. I can't complain! In terms of ergonomics, mostly I wonder how I will get a chance to try VR eventually. I really want to do it, but I can't wear a heavy headset. I know there are cardboard ones, but I don't know much about them.
  14. That's awesome! What days/times?
  15. What are the biggest problems in the video game industry today? There obviously are quite a lot of problems plaguing the video game industry right now. Crunch time, anti-consumer practices, toxicity in workplaces, etc. Which problems do you think are the biggest right now in terms of impacting game quality as well as quality of life for those working hard to make our games?
  16. I have a couple of questions regarding DLC and GOTY editions of Dragon Age and Mass Effect games, and am hoping someone may be able to shed some light. I’ve been trying to find the GOTY edition of Dragon Age: Inquisition for PS3, but all I find is the GOTY edition for PS4. Did they simply not make one for PS3, or am I just really bad at searching for things? My other question concerns the boxed set Mass Effect Trilogy for PS3. Does anyone know if this includes some, all or none of the DLC? Thanks so much to anyone who can answer these questions!
  17. I have this issue as well with my poor executive function. I also mix up the buttons to push between different games, making the situation even more complicated. I have to rely almost 100% on muscle memory since my brain isn't going to know what to do. If someone asks me what button to push while playing a game I play every day, or how to access and use an ability in the menus, I'm totally blank. Same here. It is just anxiety-inducing knowing that I’ll under-perform compared to most players. I used to MUD, but that was different from a lot of current MMOs. I did well MUDing, but I did well through politics, not fighting. My executive function was better then, but still not great, and I was a terrible fighter even then. Plus, honestly, at the end of the day, I have no social energy left. I am trying to disconnect and unwind, and single player works for that. I haven’t played Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey or The Witcher 3, but both series interest me. The game I played which challenged me the most was The Last of Us. I played it on normal and it was right at the very edge of my ability level. I spent the whole game terrified I would get stuck and not be able to beat it, but I made it, and it was worth every second. Like many other people, I tried Dark Souls at one point and gave up, lol. Those games require the very set of skills we lack to be put to precision use, and the games are extremely punishing when you fail. I can’t imagine what that is like. It certainly puts my muscular issues (myofascial pain syndrome) into perspective. I am really impressed with all that you do manage to do. I can understand that. It’s really hard, if not impossible, for someone who doesn’t have a particular physical or psychological challenge to understand what life is like for someone who does. I can tell you flat-out that you are braver than me, simply by hearing your description of living with MD. Anyone who judges or ridicules you is doing so from a position of ignorance and weakness. Actually, you're the one who inspired me to make this thread after you brought up your disability in another. I got the feeling I might have inadvertently offended you, and I wanted you to know you're safe and welcome and not alone here.
  18. I just finished Bioshock 1 a couple weeks ago for the first time :)
  19. I'm impressed by your level of organization, and by your huge collection! I'd never get rid of any of my old games. I love playing the games I enjoy over and over.
  20. I spilled beverages on my keyboard of my first computer twice, and it was never the same after either event. The really sad part is that it still outlived every laptop I've owned since by double, despite keeping fluids far, far away from them. They make things to break so fast nowadays.
  21. Which password manager do you recommend?
  22. Will you be streaming more?
  23. Thanks for the awesome mini-review. Sold, lol :)
  24. Ah right. I took what you said too literally (I'm told I do that a lot, lol). Hype truly is a double-edged sword.
