  1. YES, I detest that. That stunning nonsense is why I hate those gloom wraiths in Oblivion. Sometimes they manage to knock me down repeatedly and I can't even get up to move out of the way, and then I am dead. Hahahah, well said. Gaslight bars.
  2. Are there any old FPS games/franchises you think should be rebooted? I was thinking for example of the old Hexen/Heretic games, but I believe the rights for those are under dispute.
  3. Does anyone here pay for subscription services like PS Plus or Games with Gold? If so, what do you like/dislike about them?
  4. What are your favorite games set in dystopian environments and why?
  5. For games that at core are single player but have multiplayer modes, which have you played that were really good?
  6. What game company has made you angriest? Was it over a specific action? Or a bunch of things?
  7. I saw this quote from Neil Druckmann about TLOU HBO show: “Things sometimes stay pretty close. It’s funny to see my dialogue there from the games in HBO scripts. And sometimes they deviate greatly to much better effect because we are dealing with a different medium.” His example involves spending more time on drama and less on mechanics, but the use of the word “story” makes me wonder. I don’t like the idea of big story changes, but I trust Druckmann as a writer. Thoughts?
  8. Have you bought or read books that are based on games or expand their lore? Which did you enjoy?
  9. What is more fun for you, games where you move realistically, or games where you have unrealistic movements (like quad jump or such)?
  10. What are some games with clever choice (or lack of choice) mechanics? For example, I think the overall lack of meaningful choices through most of Spec Ops: The Line makes a point about how ignorance of one’s mind can limit one’s ability to make meaningful choices.
  11. Does anyone here cosplay characters in video games?
  12. What games have you played where the graphics are in the uncanny valley, deliberately or otherwise? What about other gameplay elements?
  13. I’m switching tactics to trying to buy a PS5 at a local grocery store. Anyone had any luck with this sort of thing?
  14. What are some things video game bosses do that drive you crazy? For me, it is in Bioware games when they periodically cannot be damaged and send in minions for a few minutes (not sure what that’s called).
  15. Has anyone found rapid shortcuts through quests you don’t like? For example, I discovered that I can run through Alduin’s Wall in Skyrim almost effortlessly if I approach from the river, curve up the mountain to the right, head inside, and bolt past the Forsworn to the puzzle room.
  16. We talked in another thread about how walking feels weirdly sluggish in video games. I've also noticed that some actions seem overly complex/slow/tedious in video games. Like ... if you had to go to the trouble of holding down a button and pulling a joystick to simulate opening a drawer, that would be weird and break immersion over just clicking (at least to me), even though clicking is less realistic. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
  17. And also that sometimes what is driving you might be buried in your unconscious, and until you root it out, your ability to make choices is compromised.
  18. I am a big fan of this game, and it made me question my assumptions about how I think.
  19. fucking wolves. They drive me crazy in RDR too. It took so long for me to figure out closing rifts was optional and that none of the random little side quests were going to add to the lore. I think it will go better on my next playthrough, as I will just skip most of that stuff to keep the pace/flow of the game more enjoyable.
  20. Rofl. I guess third-person FPS is a bit of a contradiction in terms.
