  1. I’ve been curious about this game for a while. Has anyone played it?
  2. What are some of the best super short games (let’s say … anything 6 hours or less) that you have played?
  3. Does it trouble you that you cannot resell digital games you own?
  4. How do you decide what difficulty level to play a game on?
  5. Are there games you always play on easy/casual? For me, this is Dragon Age, because the difficulty jump at ‘normal” seems absurd to me, and more like “hard’ on other games.
  6. I've had little moments like that too that made me attach to a character. For me, it was the moment in BioShock Infinite when Booker first encounters a vigor. It was my first BioShock game, so my reaction was like "what the hell was that??" And the Booker said the exact same line in the same tone. After that, I was Booker.
  7. Are there games you kind of dread playing because they are so challenging (i.e. positive stress), but you love anyway?
  8. I’m playing through Dawnguard, and finally understand that the Dwemer blinded the Falmer on purpose (previously, I thought it was just a side effect of life underground). I cannot for the life of me come up with an obvious logical reason to do this. Does anyone have any theories?
  9. I’m playing through Darkfall Cave in Dawnguard in Skyrim for the first time. I really wanted to love Blackreach, and never did—it is too large, dark, and hard to navigate for me to enjoy. Darkfall Cave has a beautiful and unique ambiance like Blackreach, but is actually fun and not tedious to play through.
  10. Good point. If it is a character that was handed to me, not one I came up with, I do likewise. I want to be true to the character's journey.
  11. By figuring out what has stopped me from not living by my stated rules. I've been researching a lot about childhood trauma, transactional analysis, and the mind, and have been doing an in-depth audit of my traits and past. The objective is to figure out what "bad code" is running in my brain--skewed perspectives, beliefs, and assumptions I'm not entirely aware of that are driving me. Once they are identified and dismantled, there won't be anything left to stop me from being my best self. Kind of funny, but Spec Ops: The Line was part of what inspired me to dive into this. What Walker went through made me realize that until we know what's driving us, we don't really have a choice. But once we do, we are finally free to decide.
  12. Why do you think so many video games features tragic endings, usually with the main character dying heroically? I think it is because we know we can’t escape mortality, but we hate the idea of dying a meaningless death. So, video games actually give us meaningful, heroic deaths as a form of wish fulfilment, because it is a better way to go than most of us will get.
  13. When are some times you’ve experienced a sense of awe and wonder while playing video games? I think for me, it’d be the first time I played Skyrim, and the first time I played BioShock Infinite.
  14. Would you find it scarier to live in Rapture or Columbia at their heights? I’ll go with Columbia, as it had all of Rapture’s problems and then some.
  15. If you had to elect a video game character to be the leader of your country, who would you choose, and why? I think I might pick Dorian from DA. He cares deeply about his country, but wants to reform it for greater individual freedom.
  16. Is there a video game you feel could use a better title? What is it?
  17. Have you ever decided it isn’t worth it to buy a game after you read a review?
  18. Do you buy a game even if you think you won’t get to it in years? I do, if there is a good deal.
  19. What are some games based on films that are better than the movies they were based on?
  20. Do you find some followers just increase the work you’re doing (i.e. you spend more time protecting them than anything) in some situations? How do you work around this?
  21. Aside from Dogmeat, I think every canine follower I’ve had in Bethesda games is quite noisy. Does anyone else find this irksome?
  22. I read about a game called “Before Your Eyes” you control with blinking. It sounds gimmicky at first, but the more I read about it, the more the concept actually sounds amazing in context. What are some gimmicky vs. non-gimmicky weird controls you’ve seen in games?
  23. In another thread, we were discussing the ethical rules we hold ourselves to in real life. Do you usually follow the same rules when you play games, or do you break from them? I usually try to follow the same rules in games I want to IRL, as it 1-boosts immersion, and 2-serves as a way to train myself to do better at it IRL.
