  1. Do you prefer playing characters who get you out of your own head/are nothing like you, or those that maybe feel more like you than your everyday person?
  2. I hear lots of people say games are for entertainment only, and should not be used to comment on current events, etc. I think games are just a medium of communication like books, movies, or music, and can be used to inform, entertain, persuade, criticize, train, serve as art, extend human experience, or any other purpose. I like devs to be honest about their purpose, but beyond that, I want them to do what is authentic to them. Does anyone else share this view?
  3. What games are best for pure escapism from your daily life?
  4. When I play games with any resource scarcity, my best items often go unused forever because I am saving them for later. Anyone else do this?
  5. I often forget that I even have shouts in Skyrim, aside from using Clear Skies a lot to get rid of the clouds. Does anyone else forget to shout?
  6. How long do you search for hard-to-find quest items in games before you give up and check the internet?
  7. What do you think/do to keep frustration and rage-quitting at bay? Usually just going in with low expectations (i.e. “this is a Bethesda game; it will inevitably glitch”) works for me.
  8. The inverse of my other thread. Is there a game ending that is lauded by most that you can’t stand?
  9. Is there a game ending you love that other people seem to hate? BioShock Infinite seems to fall into this category for me.
  10. Did a game character ever make a decision that just crushed you? I’d say Elizabeth did this to me in Burial at Sea, though I understood her actions.
  11. Usually I avoid spoilers, but sometimes when I play a game with a “no win situation” like we’ve been talking about on some other threads, I end up glad I saw a spoiler at some point that lessened the blow. Are you ever grateful for spoilers?
  12. What’s the most badass you’ve ever felt while gaming? For me it was during one of the longer fights in TLOU on my first playthrough. I was really in the zone with meleeing while desperately trying not to die, and momentarily forgot I wasn’t actually Joel.
  13. Enemies in Oblivion seem like they will chase you to the ends of Tamriel. What are the best ways to shake them if you don’t want to fight/kill them?
  14. Is there a retro gaming system you are curious to try, but have never had a chance to play?
  15. On the contrary. You can fanboi all day long about New Vegas around me. Even with game-breaking bugs, I adore it. I wouldn't keep playing it over and over while it breaks if I didn't. I'm on my first playthrough of Oblivion 🙂
  16. If you have a next gen console, are there any features that were dropped from the previous gen you miss?
  17. To those with next gen consoles, what has been the single biggest improvement this generation?
  18. Which open world game have you played through the largest number of times? For me it is Fallout NV because it breaks on me a lot, forcing short playthroughs.
  19. Now and again we talk about developers that have had major staff turnovers. At what point does a developer lose its identity and effectively become a new one?
  20. Because that's what @Reality vs Adventure does. In the most endearing way.
  21. What if you were forced to give up either video games or movies? Which would you pick and why? I’d give up movies, as games are more engaging to me and offer more content. But it’d be hard to pick between having to give up video games or TV.
  22. What do you miss most about your favorite game when you aren’t playing it? The characters? The setting? The gameplay? The lore? Another aspect?
  23. What open world game have you been playing the longest? For me, it is Skyrim, which I have been playing for I think about five years now.
  24. If you didn’t grow up an avid gamer, are there things about gamers that have surprised you since you became one? For example, I was surprised to find out how many gamers are both very busy and fairly poor (I'm both) , given how pricey games are and how many hours they take to finish.
  25. I remember when I was young wondering how people poured hundreds of hours into gaming, and now I do it =D Who else here games far more than your younger self would have pictured you ever would?
