  1. I actually saw The Haunting of Bly Manor made in 2020 first on Netflix & watched it. When I did a search, I saw that there was one before that, The Haunting of Hill House made in 2018.

It’s about the same house, just called differently. Different storyline & characters, though they used some of the same actors & actresses. What I liked the most is they tied the storylines in at the end. Always will be unanswered questions from the viewer’s point of view, but at least they concluded it.

Anybody else catch these 2? What did you think of them? It got me hooked right away & I finished them quite fast.

In my case my dogs can stay with my mom since they did grow up around her as well. Otherwise, I'd probably have to get them a passport and carry them with me. There's no way I'm leaving them in any holding facility.

I agree! When we did travel, our dog went with us but we had cats. We'd have a friend come over & take care of them, as well as fill our birdfeeders, water our garden, etc.

  3. We don’t celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, even holidays. Just another day. However, we DO acknowledge them. Let the person know they are loved & thought of. But as my husband always says, I don’t need a day to remind my family I love them. I think it means more when it's out of the blue, for no reason, than because it's a 'have to' according to society's rules.

  4. @The Blackangel  You made a point on the word 'thrill'. I live rural on acreage so I get a 'thrill' out of taking my walks here, listening to the birds, challenging myself to identify flora & fauna.

However, for this particular question, no, I'm not a risk-taker. I'm not boring lol I just don't care to exceed my limitations in this aspect.

  5. I’ve watched some older movies recently & got me thinking about surfing. We have lakes here but we are far from the ocean. While we’ve travelled to Florida when I was younger, I never tried surfing. I always have wanted to try it. Don’t care to be good mind you, but just enough where I could actually stay on the board 🙂

Who has tried surfing? Do you consider yourself a beginner or advanced? How long have you been doing it? What started it for you?

  6. While this isn't a sport like one would think of, it does require coordination & a feel for the game. What do you call it? We mostly call it Putt Putt Golf here. We got into it with my parents & we enjoy it. We try to go a few times every summer. None of us are that good at it lol but that's besides the point. I personally tend to overswing & let's just say, I'm so glad they have safe-guards in place 🙂

  7. Anybody here collects records? I should back up for the younger generation, any here remember records & record players? lol My husband collected some for awhile. I know my parents still have some from when I was a kid. When we looked thru them recently, we realized us kids didn't take good care of them, so they wouldn't be worth much today. Anybody had a record that skipped at a certain part & you learned that song WITH that skip only to find out much later, that was not part of the song? We had a few like that lol Namely some Christmas songs that were played often duing the Holidays.

  8. Even an amateur one. Would you do it again? What part did you play? For those who haven’t been in one, have you thought of what it would be like if you did? Or do you prefer to be ‘behind the scenes’? I don’t even like my picture being taken so being in a video, music or even home, is not for me. However, I'm quite curious for others.

The smell of coffee is invigorating - just out of curiosity, where did you get that organic soda and what brand is it? It's the first I'm hearing of such a product and I'd be interested to try it.

To be fair, I hardly drink coffee so I can easily give it up as well.

We get Blue Sky. The organic one is hard to find now & is not listed on their website. But we have still found it at Health Food Stores. If you see an organic brand online, you can always ask if your local Health Food Store could order you some even if they don't necessarily carry it. We order in bulk because they also gave us a discount.

While we haven't tried this brand, Rocky Mountain Soda based in Colorado, we know of others who have & liked it.

Valid points and that's what I also live by. I have taken the approach over the years that if I'm going to make a major purchase, I must have at least three times the money of the item just in case there might be extras that wasn't accounted for in the original price.

Thank you! I'm glad you also live by it as well. We are fortunate to be debt free. Another tip we use is to pay with cash. I grew up never believing in credit cards. People tend to overdo their spending quite easily. Even if they pay it off right away, it's too easy to binge buy, as I call it lol

I grew up watching Little House on the Prairie and was given the first book to read when I was in 1st Grade by a teacher who wanted to get me hooked as soon as possible LOL It worked!

@ZandraJoidid you happen to have the doll? I tried looking up the one I have but I can't find it so it must not have been a name brand.

I loved reading her books! Unfortunately, I didn't read them until way into adulthood, after I watched the series.

I never had any of the dolls. There are several on Ebay, Amazon, as well as private dealers. Maybe you could post on a Little House fanpage a description of what you remember it looked like. Die-hard fans should know the answer!

  12. Movie theaters around here have shut down before this virus hit. With the advent of streaming services, cinemas took a nosedive. Not to mention kiosks that make it easy to shop at a grocery store & get a DVD for one-stop shopping.

I liked the experience, that can't be beat. It's a good social time. However, I also like being able to Pause, Rewind what I'm watching as well as being more comfortable on my couch.

I think if they did try to stick around, they'd have to reinvent themselves to cater today's society.

  13. I had been thinking of the movie I like, The Fifth Element, & how the character Leeloo spoke The Divine Language. There are people who have learned Klingon from Star Trek. So, I’m curious if any of you learned or even just dabbled in learning a fictional language. When we watch Stargate SG-1 as well as The 100, my husband & I picked up a few words they spoke in these shows. Mainly we did it to translate what they were saying into English, but some of the words tend to stick.

  14. If so, what would it be about? While I am honestly not good at bells & whistles on a forum, doing themes, or graphics, I do like learning. Even if I cannot implement it lol So I’m curious, how does one go about creating a game? Are there certain apps you need to download? Some games I see have great graphics where it looks so real. I wonder how they do that. Is it based on an individual’s talent or the software they would download?

Your right. Internet not being available and the possibility of online services for games getting shut down are very real and justifiable concerns when it comes to digital game's distribution. Sadly, the question is kind irrelevant because there has not been a major PC game or port released on physical media for well over a decade. The format is long since died off. It's one the weaknesses of PC gaming in general.

I did a little research on that game you mentioned Skip-Bo Castaway Caper and as far as I can tell the game has trouble running on modern systems because of an incompatibility with 64bit operating systems and hardware. This can, at least in theory, be fixed by running the games using window's compatibility mode.

Thank you for researching 🙂 How would you go about running on Window's compatibility mode? I always tell people I'm not technically inclined & if I don't know something, I will ask! I'm definitely interested in learning how to do this. Even if it doesn't work for some reason or another for Skip-Bo, I can keep the information for reference.

  16. Right side up or upside down? I do right side up because I cheat. I love washing dishes but dislike drying lol so what I do with glasses & containers is do a quick dry on the outside & bottom & quickie inside then put them away. Containers I leave angled. So they are out of the way & can dry on their own. But there are only 2 of us & we don't have many dishes.

Which way do you prefer & why?

  17. We prefer buying the DVD because then we have the physical copy. It’s very useful for when you lose your internet but would still like to pass the time with a game. Plus, from our experience, if the website goes out of business, we still have the copy. Unfortunately, there was one game I TRULY loved. Skip-Bo Castaway Caper. Years ago, when we upgraded our computer, I tried to play it & it wouldn’t play. I emailed customer support but the game was no longer available. I still miss that game lol I did find a place where you can play it online, however, you need to start over from the beginning each & every time. Bummer!
