    Television

I've switched back and forth between playing Switch/PS games on my 4K TV and playing PC games on my smaller 24 inches monitor, and I definitely feel the difference, that the game feels smaller and less epic. I like epic scales and immersion, so if I'm given a choice, I'll pick my 4K TV for gaming. It's also why I bought that modded Switch so that I could custom-mod Chaos;Head: Noah (instead of buying a copy of the game on Steam, which would've made modding easier because it's on PC). I want to feel that atmosphere.
  2. I've been watching a lot of HBO's Oz, Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men around three to four months ago (currently on season two of all shows except Oz, where I'm on the fourth). Out of those dramas, to pick a favorite is hard, especially this early on. Breaking Bad's pacing is more suitable for me because it's paced like a thriller than a character study like the four other shows, but Breaking Bad is not even close to the level of depth those other shows provide in terms of characters and plot... not even Oz, the second weakest of the five before BB IMO. That's not to say any of these shows are poorly written by the way - not even remotely close - just that certain shows have more impressive writing than others. Vince Gilligan is great, and Walt's gradual descent is always entertaining, but I like how David Chase made his characters in Sopranos feel ordinary and mundane despite being mob bosses. And then of course, with The Wire and David Simon, it's more about the systemic corruption that traps the citizens of Baltimore, not just with the more obvious drug dealers on the streets, but also the port workers feeling the heat as technology starts to replace manual labor. There's layers to these five shows, and I like that. I do enjoy drama shows in general, but to be honest, I prefer drama in a fantasy setting, like with superheroes and sci-fi. I like a balance. Mundane settings like mafia bosses and drug lords are great for discussions... but the mundaneness of it all gets a little dry for me after a while (especially with David Chase's obsession with anticlimaxes). I like to have fun with my shows, so when the drama is something like Netflix's Daredevil, that would usually get my attention. I wouldn't rank Daredevil anywhere near any of the five shows I mentioned above though, even Breaking Bad. In terms of drama movies, there is one: Whiplash. Such a fun and bombastic portrayal by JK Simmons. He often plays some of the most hateful characters, it seems (see Vern Schillinger in Oz).
  3. Yeah, I'm a physical disc advocator any day of the week. Almost all my Nintendo games are physical except The House of Fata Morgana (which was an old game that you wouldn't be able to find a physical copy of in Singapore at the time of my purchase). I think that's the only time I would go digital - if the physical copy is unavailable or costs a hundred bucks (see old 3DS games, especially the big name ones like SMT; not even exaggerating, they cost that much on Amazon). However, even if they're expensive, if I'm devoted to a franchise or a specific game enough, like say, the Chaos;Head duology, I wouldn't mind paying that much just for the physical copy to be shipped over. Sometimes, you get extra benefits anyway because you'll only get special collector's edition of the games (with t-shirts and accessories) only by purchasing the PHYSICAL copy, never the digital one (see Soul Hackers 2 and Fallout 4). I'm really glad that publishers of these games really went out of their way to keep physical games alive by providing these cool bonuses. I remember CD Projekt Red doing something similar with Cyberpunk 2077 too. It really comes down to a matter of convenience and your level of passion. I still buy games I don't care that much about on Steam because it's easier that way than heading down to my local game store everytime, but I'll still go out and support not just game companies or game franchises I like, but also movie directors or just movies I want to support by going down to the local theater instead of steaming from my home. Pick your battle, and vote with your wallet towards the franchise you want to get behind.
  4. I finally caved and bought a modded Switch. lol Now hear me out, 1) I only bought a new Switch because my old one was a V2 version that was not moddable, and 2) I didn't buy it to perform any illegal piracy or anything. I'll still buy my games like I always do of course, but the reason I needed a modded Switch is because of Chaos;Head Noah and Mages' crappy censorship. There's a fan-patch coming later next month by the Committee of Zero who will patch up both the Steam and Switch version of the game, but for the latter... you need a hacked Switch to patch that crap. Yeah. And from what I've read about the kind of things they've censored AND the bugs AND the loose translation AND the spelling errors... yeah, it's worth it to buy a hacked Switch just to get the proper experience. I've been waiting a decade to play Chaos;Head, so if we're gonna do this, we're gonna do this right. 😆
  5. Yeah, I could definitely understand that. Even though Singapore has its anime fanbase - perhaps one almost as large as the American fanbase even - you would have a difficult time finding the specific anime game you want, especially if it's been released for more than six months. Anime games and especially visual novels are still kinda niched in Singapore in spite of being an Asian country. But that's why I would usually go shopping at Amazon. It's more convenient anyway despite the shipping cost. To be honest, I'm more into visual novels than "anime games" generally. I enjoyed anime a lot in the past, and even though I haven't watched it for quite a while (save the Higurashi reboot), I still like the artstyle, but I'm not really into games like Persona 5 or Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which are JRPGs with "anime artstyles." They're just too tedious for someone like me who's more interested in story over gameplay, and visual novels like House of Fata Morgana and Chaos;Head Noah are designed specifically with a focus on storytelling, so interpret that as you will in regards to "my interest in anime games." 😆
  6. I've borrowed books from my local library before - and sometimes forgetting to return them on them - but I've never really heard of renting books, at least around Singapore. Buying books though, I've done that in the past, but they're mostly comics from a shop called "Kinokuniya" or Choose Your Own Adventure game books like Give Yourself Goosebumps. The CYOAs, I've bought them as a kid, but I remember about two or three years ago, my interest was rekindled and I ended up buying some CYOAs from overseas and had them shipped here. They were part of the classic "Choose Your Own Adventure" series published by Bantam Books. I got "Terror on Titanic" and "Hyperspace." But yeah, most of the time, I've bought my books from two stores in Singapore: the Popular bookstore and Kinokuniya. Kinokuniya is definitely the better choice though since they offer a wider variety of books, from comics to Japanese light novels to literature of any kind. Popular is more leaning towards the mainstream crowd and also sells stationary and assessment books for students.
  7. I was actually lucky with this one as I accidentally stumbled on the news of the pre-order. I can't remember exactly how or where I stumbled on the news - might have been Reddit, might have been a Nintendo article - but I was lucky enough to learn of the pre-order back on March 12, and I just immediately went on Amazon and purchased it. I'm pretty sure it was an article. I think I was scrolling through another unrelated article, and then I saw the Chaos;Head Double Pack article in one of the "trending articles" at the bottom of the page. But yeah, I'm glad I got the opportunity to buy it, regardless of the circumstances. I did hear that the port isn't the most polished, and people would be better off waiting for the Committee of Zero patch for the PC port, but ah well, I don't regret buying it. I've wanted to play Chaos;Head Noah forever. I think for anime games, you could check out Steam and follow some of the publishers like Spike Chunsoft, which as you can see from the photo above, was the one which published Chaos;Head. Another one is Sekai Project, but they mostly release visual novels. Once you follow them, and if you have email notifications on, you'll receive emails whenever they release a new project.
  8. lol Nice. I could stomach a lot of stuff, so this should be fun. The opening gore moment of Chaos;Child, for example, was surprising, but not really that bad for me. I'm pretty desensitized to violent scenes by now.
  9. This arrived a few days ago and I've barely touched it because I'm too busy with other stuff in my life right now, including another visual novel, House in Fata Morgana. Will be playing Higurashi Rei with 07th mod after I'm done, so Chaos;Head Noah will have some time to wait. It's like buying a PS4 all over again. Much like the Playstation console, Chaos;Head Noah was one of those things I kept dreaming about playing someday. Now that I've owned it... the reality just doesn't match up with that initial hype. lol

    Pokémon

I bought a bunch of trading cards online recently that were part of a Pokémon tournament deck list. It's a little challenging to use because it's not an attack deck - Arceus VStar providing energy quickly to any of your Pokémon. I spent around $80-$100 for them.
  11. Just putting it out there: I'm more than 150 pounds/70kg, so maybe I'm not fat enough to speak about this. That being said, I've always tried to not inconvenience others with my own flaws or insecurities. I don't think I have a sense of entitlement in that manner. So if my weight is causing someone else to be sandwiched in between me and another overweight person... I'll usually take the responsibility and move somewhere else. It's my problem, not theirs. Them being annoyed about being touched by a stranger in that way (or being a literal human sandwich on a flight) has nothing to do with weight, especially if they had a history of being sexually assaulted. It's not fat-shaming.

People really need to stop calling out discrimination when there is none. It dilutes the meaning of the words and makes them meaningless in the long run, because if everyone is a discriminating bigot, discrimination itself has no meaning. Use these terms correctly.

Just my take on the whole Sydney Watson smear campaign that the mainstream news outlets have performed on her because of supposedly "fat-shaming." I've talked to her, she talked about her side of the story, and it's definitely not fat-shaming in my opinion, speaking as someone who's chubby myself.

She was sandwiched on a flight between two obese individuals, and the airline's response was that "Our passengers come in all shapes and sizes," when the discrimination against someone's weight wasn't really the issue Sydney was trying to bring up here, but the fact that she was uncomfortably squeezed between two individuals. That's the focal point of the issue these outlets failed to grasp.

    Fail to grasp?

It gets pretty annoying, I agree. I'm usually on time, but my ex-bestfriend would usually be 10-15 minutes late quite often. That said, I didn't really complain much about his behavior (partly because there were other aspects of his behavior that were far more problematic), and I didn't really mind waiting while playing my phone or my Switch. 20-30 minutes is pretty egregious though, and if I have to wait that long, I'll probably head home by the 20th minute mark or just head to a local fastfood at wait for him there instead. I'm already not physically fit, so standing on one spot for 30 minutes is not my idea of a good time.

    Fail to grasp?

The proper usage of "ironic" and "literally."
  14. Shame I couldn't see that video because of country restrictions. Gotta hate that. Edit: Never mind. A VPN helped out with the restrictions. The episode seems pretty relevant because laser-tag is already a thing, so this might not be impossible in the next 30 years. I probably wouldn't be interested though and will still be playing PC simulation games. Speaking of Futurama though, I've finished the first four seasons recently and can't wait to start watching the movies.
  15. Just had to look this up again: "Saving people, hunting things, the family business." God, I really need to continue my Supernatural binge soon. I finished season 4 a while ago.
  16. Out of curiosity: is the "Winchester" part of your name a reference to CW's Supernatural, the TV series?
  17. Same here. Werewolf by Night seems like a return to form for Marvel though, and everyone's singing praises for it, the fans and the haters. Have you see it yet?

    The worst job

Handing out leaflets from block to block. I'm really not physically fit and handing them out fast to every single apartment everyday just isn't suitable for me. I prefer an office job (or at least just standing on a street corner and hand these things out without moving). I've also worked McDonald's once. Quit after a day because the boss was a hardass. lol I don't really mind the dishwashing or even taking out the trash, but being pressured on the first day of my job wasn't something I was comfortable with, even as a teenager. My parents dished out enough verbal punishments on that front at home.

    Uncomfortable

Oh boy. So many things, from the sight of roaches to suffocating crowds in an elevator, take your pick. I think the thing that triggers me the most (aside from the obvious, roaches still being my biggest trigger) and makes me feel uncomfortable might be... interruptions when I'm focusing on something. I'm someone who likes my routine and structure. I don't like it when someone disrupts that routine and tries to change my plans somehow. I'll help you when I'm free, which might be two minutes later depending on how nice you asked, but I just can't help but feel uncomfortable when I'm in the middle of something and forced to drop it and focus on something else; my focus doesn't work like that, unfortunately.
  20. What about the MCU? Are you caught up with it or tired of it?
  21. I didn't grow up with this so much as discover it in my 20s. Still such an iconic song.
