It can be. But when it goes wrong, it can just make things even worse!
Thus, when I game for stress relief, I usually play things like construction games, or revisit old nostalgic games that I know how to beat 😛 .

I don't think streaming is to blame for theaters doing poorly. Theaters took the bank manager's approach to doing poorly and raised prices. In many cases the properties had not been kept up, sometimes in years. They became complacent and then acted too slowly when streaming first hit. They took out seats and benches long before COVID, they shrank their arcades long before COVID. They were charging more for fewer lower quality concession items long before COVID. Basically, they were taking everything away that allowed you to have a sort of night at the movies because loitering teenagers had bad press. Of course, that takes away the things the adults wanted too. They also started opening fewer theaters and showing only the big blockbusters.
You would go to the movies, watch your two hour movie then immediately leave the theater. $18+ per ticket for that? Why, when the whole group can rent it for $4 on YouTube-- assuming you don't already have it at no additional on Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Peacock, Paramount+, Tubi, AmazonPrime Video, Squelch, TeeBeep or Smok (can you guess without googling which I made up?).
The only theaters I know that are still doing well are small live venues that show movies to supplement the live productions. They usually show classics or cult movies and pull out the stops to make it feel like an event.
tl;dr they made it an expensive, filthy time lacking in choices and treated patrons with a watch your movie then leave attitude then acted surprised when people would rather order a pizza and watch something at home in barbeque-sauce-stained sweatpants.
While that's true of some cinemas, it doesn't apply to all.
For example, there's this little independent cinema where my girlfriend lives, that charges only £5 per ticket. And the food/drink is pretty cheap too: for example, I got a 300g box of shortbread for only £1!
Of course, the seats weren't exactly luxurious (they were just wooden benches) - but still, it was a much more intimate experience than your typical multiplex!

My longest-lived Sim finally died... she'd lasted for 170 in-game days, and had been with me since mid-2021. Made me sadder than it should have done, to be honest 😞 !

Tribal Wars.
It was nothing but a time sink, where the winning strategy was to spend all day farming the surrounding villages (at the expense of having a life).

Nor can I - although, I wouldn't have gone into any arcades until the early 2000s, by which point Frogger wasn't exactly cutting-edge 😛 .

Yeah, he'll struggle to do much with AlphaTauri... I'm certainly not expecting him to win races or anything 😛 .
However, that's not to say he can't make himself noticed... if he can do something similar to what Alex Albon has done at Williams, that'll be enough to stand out 🙂 .

'Killed' is an exaggeration.
It certainly hasn't helped them - but, they still offer a unique experience that can't easily be replicated at home. Watching a film on a 4K screen the height of an entire room with Dolby Digital surround sound, and watching the same film on an (oftentimes laggy) laptop in a home full of distractions, are two completely different experiences IMO. To me, watching it at the cinema feels more like an event.
Admittedly, I don't go to them too often - but as long as I can afford to go every now and then, I have no plans to stop.

Yes, I do - and I've been following it since the 1997 season! It's my favourite sport, and I always look forward to watching the races - even if there isn't much of a championship battle this year 😛 .
Of course, it's great to see the Honey Badger back on the grid... ideally, I'd like to see him at a more competitive team, but I'm just glad he's there 🙂 .

Not really... I'm not a big fan of horror games or FPS games, but even then I'm open to trying them!
(Although, if a game is both an FPS and a horror game, it'll have to work *really* hard in order to please me 😛 )

Well, I guess there is that 😛 !
I started another game, and they survived this time... only to starve a few years later because they weren't producing enough food for their expanding population.
I am trying to continue with what's left of my town - but, it's not easy!

Banished.
Re-installed this after a few months away, and started a new game on the highest difficulty settings. I didn't build enough houses for my people before winter - and then, they all just froze to death.
Maybe I should try on a slightly lower difficulty next time!
