  1. This is tough but in no particular order I would say: Skyrim, Witcher 3, Ocarina of Time, The Last of Us, Horizon: Zero Dawn
  2. I think it really depends on the game and type of game. For shooters I think first person is superior, it just makes more sense for that type of game and third person shooters often feel awkward and aiming can be strange. Although, narrative driven games like The Last of Us or the Uncharted series have made third person shooting work. For RPGs I like the choice. Like Skyrim for example I love to be in third person when going around town and doing other things so I can see my character, but for combat I am always in first person. For action games, games like the Arkham series or the upcoming spider-man game I think third person is the only thing that makes sense. I have enjoyed games set-up both ways, I think the key is that it fits the game and is executed well.
  3. I agree with Katri that The Witcher 3 really tops my list. Best RPG combat I have ever seen, the freedom to be more aggressive or tactical as you see fit, plus you get a wide variety of monsters to hunt and fight. Best combat I have experienced in a game.
  4. There are really so many. I agree on TLOU2 for sure. But in the very near future there is Spider-man, AC: Odyssey, and RDR2 all have me pretty hyped. I am also looking forward to the Spyro remasters just for a little nostalgia hit. Then for games without release windows yet Cyberpunk 2077 and Ghost of Tsushima top my list, both look amazing.
  5. I agree that I really enjoyed the game the first time around, I played over 100 hours of it and had a good ship and multi-tool and all the slots on my suit opened up. I still have my copy and have been considering jumping back in with all the news surrounding the updates. It definitely seems they have delivered a much more complete game at this point. I think the only thing holding me back is that it has been so long since I played it almost feels daunting to jump back in and figure out where I was and get a grasp on all these new mechanics like base building, side missions, freighters, and such. But i'm getting closer and closer to booting it up again.
  6. I always wanted a quest to be able to destroy the thieves guild, similarly to how you can destroy the dark brotherhood instead of join them. As I have some characters where I stick hard to their morals and they would not join those groups but seek to destroy them. There is even some evidence that this mission was supposed to exist in that you can find a letter in the general shop in Riften that suggests he (The shop owner, I forget his name, something with a P) and the other shop owners (the same ones you shake down if you join the guild) are considering banding together and standing up to the guild. I wish finding that letter started a quest line where you helped them and freed Riften from control of the Thieves Guild. Perhaps it could tie in with Mjoll as well as you suggest. I also like your idea about a quest line to help the Forsworn, it would be cool to be able to bring that situation to more complete conclusion, one way or another.
  7. Stranger things would be cool. I would also love a true Game of Thrones game. And like you say, not the Telltale one that exists. I want a real true Skyrim type RPG set in Westeros.
  8. I play a lot of sports games. And have played them for almost every sport. I buy Madden and 2k annually. Fifa every other year. And play The Show and Hockey games a lot although I tend to stick with one version for a few years before upgrading. Baseball rosters just don't change that much to make it worth it and I play mostly my career mode anyway. What I really miss is a good Tennis and Golf game. I loved Tiger Woods, especially 2012, and played it a lot. But Rory McIlroy was a disappointing experience and I believe that is still the only option for current gen. That tennis game they just released (I forget the name) just looks bad, and they never get enough real players and courses. I know Golf and Tennis are tough for developers because you have to license everyone individually as their is no governing body that holds rights to all of them like you have with NBA, NFL, MLB, etc. This gets expensive, also all the events like Wimbledon, French Open for Tennis or courses like Augusta for Golf have to also be licensed individually. Disappointing but I don't see that situation changing for those sports anytime soon.
  9. I am a big Sony fan and do most of my gaming on PS4 but this decision really disappoints me. There is no real reason not to do this. People who already have an Xbox are going to buy cross-platform games on Xbox, cross-platform games aren't getting anyone to switch consoles. So why not allow interplay on those games. They would still have their exclusives and interplay isn't as issue on those anyway. Dumb decision.
  10. It's kind of a funny one but baseball games always get me. You can do everything right, wait out the perfect at bat, get the perfect pitch, time your swing right and still get a pop-up. Sometimes you end up in epic cold streaks that really get me heated.
  11. Don't remember the exact name of the song. But in the first Red Dead Redemption when you first arrive in Mexico it plays this song as you ride to the first town, it was so perfect in that moment, totally immersed you into the game and created a great experience. I will always remember that song kicking in at that moment.
  12. I don't think so. I think there is still a strong market for single player games. Game like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Detroit: Become Human were very successful. Spider-man and RDR2 are coming out later this year and look amazing. Also, Biomutant, Darksiders 3, AC Odyssey and I'm sure others I can't think of right now. I play mostly single player and have not had any shortage. Really the only multiplayer I do are sports games (Fifa, Madden, the Show). Some shooters occasionally. Also, even though Fallout 76 is multiplayer Bethesda has said that Starfield and ES6 will both be single player. As long as the money is there to be made for strong single player experiences they will continue to get made.
  13. Finishing up a second playthrough of Detroit: Become Human now. Great game, really takes the butterfly effect style game to a new level.
  14. On PC I feel like digital makes more sense. For console I almost always go physical unless it is a small indie game or something PSN has a crazy sale on. I think for console this makes more sense because HDD space is more limited, also you get the option of selling a physical game back. You don't get a lot of money for this but something is better than nothing, and I have been able to knock 20-30 dollars off a new game purchase before with sell backs. I feel like that is worth it. Plus the risk of damage is minimal as long as you take care of your games.
  15. If I am playing single player I typically just stick to speakers. But multiplayer a good set of headphones is essential IMO.
  16. I thought Until Dawn was a fun choice based game. My goal was to keep everyone alive and I had done so up until the final moments of the game when one bad choice cost me several lives. Had to replay the whole game just to undo that one mistake.
