God of War for me so far.   But Red Dead 2 has a chance to beat it.

I don't know that anyone really does it quite like Bioware, the Mass Effect games and DA games are really king at that.  But as Dylan mentions story based games like Telltale games, Detroit, or even Until Dawn build good stories but are also a very different type of game.  One game that I thought did well with relationship and character building was Kingdom Come: Deliverance.  It has some romance options as well that you have to take time to build, going on dates and such.

I don't if this completely counts as the game was pretty rough upon initial release, but I thought Mass Effect: Andromeda was better than public perception would have you believe.  I got the benefit of playing it awhile after release so I didn't face any of the game breaking bugs that others did.  But the other complaints against the game I thought were fueled by peoples nostalgia for the original trilogy and wanting more of the same whereas Bioware tried to bring a fresh start to series.  I thought the overall game play was fun and engaging and the overall feel of the game was still solid.  I really enjoyed exploring a new galaxy, meeting aliens, and building relationships with your team.  I had a lot of fun playing that game despite all the negativity surrounding it.

I definitely recommend changing your overall combat style and build.  I had one friend who built a barehanded character, you focus on those skills and get a couple key items and you can go around punching all your foes to death.  I have built characters focused around stealth and archery or heavy two handed guys who just bust in anywhere and wreck, both can be fun approaches.  Also, try taking different sides or approaches to quest lines.  (Might be some slight spoilers past this point) For example if you joined the dark brotherhood before you can destroy them this time, pick a different side of the war, do the blades quest line if you haven't.  You can try to become a thane and landowner in every town if you haven't before.  I do not know if you have the DLCs (if you don't I suggest adding them they add quite a bit of new content) but if you have been a werewolf before you can try being a vampire this time.  Also, certain quest lines have special things at the end if you push for them, like the thieves guild for instance can move to a new location (similar to dark brotherhood) and regain its glory if you do enough missions for them.  Also, you can focus on collections, all the dragon priest masks for instance (there is something you can do with them as well if you haven't), or all the Daedric artifacts (there is usually one or two ppl have missed).  Also, you can look around for articles about the most missed missions or easter eggs, there are usually a couple I haven't done when I look at those and that gives me something to do.

No Mans Sky for sure. I loved the game since the day it got announced. I was waiting till release day to buy it but I was actually on a trip in Serbia during that time and had no connection to the internetz. When I came back I heard everyone raging about how awful it was and what a liar Hello Games is.
I bought the game nonetheless, I literally left my bones and soul playing it on my PC and now I'm thinking about buying a console and get it as my first game for it. My dream was get a big TV, a good console, pizza beer and No Mans Sky 😄

Solid list, I would add Spider-man, AC: Odyssey, Red Dead 2, Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Darksiders 3, Biomutant, and Death Stranding as games I am definitely looking forward to.

If you're searching for side scrolling indie games like Limbo and Inside you should try Hollow Knight, the Swapper, Salt and Sanctuary and Deadlight. Ori and the Blind Forest is also a great choice and  Sundered. If you don't mind the platformer aspect then I would also recommend Bastion, Pyre and Transistor, from SuperGiant Games.
If you want something to keep playing for a long time you should try Dead Cells, this is by far the best side-scrolling rogue like indie game out there 😛 All these games are super cheap so I would check them all out if I were you 😄

That is a serious back-log, haha.  I am not in too bad of shape right now as there has been a bit of a summer lull in releases since God of War and Detroit and I have been using this time to get caught up.  But I always have my GameFly queue building so there are about 30+ titles on there that I would like to get to at some point.  I am finally playing Dragon Age: Inquisition and that is one I have been wanting to get to for some time.  I am more worried about how I am going to schedule my time once September and October get here as there are so many big titles being dropped late this year that I want to play, Spider-man, Red Dead, Spyro, Fallout, Tomb Raider, AC Odyssey, Biomutant, Darksiders, etc, etc the list goes on and on.

Idk if its the kind of game you'd be into but if you like RPGs Horizon Zero Dawn is awesome and it has one of my all time favorite stories. The combat and gameplay is great too

For me I think it's gotta be The Witcher 3. All the towns and cities you visit have their own culture and way of speaking and I love that about it. It's a vibrant world and so very fascinating. I could get lost overhearing people talk to each other for hours.

For me it's The Witcher 3. One reason to drop games in my opinion is clunky combat and this game swept me off my feet with its flawless mechanics. Back then, I remember waiting patiently till Sunday to just make a coffee and play until the afternoon. Man I loved this game 😄

Joant73 reacted to Aimee Hart in Is Sony Arrogant Over The Crossplay Situation on Consoles?
I've got mixed feelings when it comes to the whole thing. One feeling that does stand out the most, however, is that I truly don't believe Sony will lose out by allowing cross-play, and so why decline people the chance of playing with their friends? But, and this is a biiiiig but, I also don't think Sony's arrogance will cost them anything drastic. People will always go out of their way to hype Sony up, and with games like The Last of Us 2 and Death Stranding coming out, they'll soon be seen as the most beloved company. And this is coming from someone who loves Sony and their exclusives, lol.

I'm physical media for life. I do have a few dozen Steam games that were free/extremely cheap, but those are the rare exception to the rule for me.

There are so many advantages to physical that it's not even funny. You can sell it when you're done and get cash back towards another game. You can buy games used for cheap since the market isn't controlled by one source. You can lend it to a friend. It looks nice on your shelf. It takes up less hard drive/memory card space. If your internet goes out or becomes limited, you've always got everything on-hand with physical. Ownership is guaranteed as long as your media is intact (digital only grants you a "license" to play a game which can be altered or even revoked - just look at the way Rockstar is altering GTA radio stations years after the fact). And most importantly, your ability to play is not dependent on the publisher or console manufacturer maintaining the servers indefinitely in case you have to re-download it. All you need to do is look at the graveyard of DSiWare and soon to be WiiWare games that are possibly gone forever since Nintendo shut down the DSi and Wii shop servers. Some day that could happen to PS3 and Xbox 360... then PS4 and Xbox One. PC sources are no guarantee either. I don't want my game collection to live and die by the whims of a company.
Unfortunately we are heading for a time where even physical games are becoming highly dependent on their connection with digital distribution, with some games not even working without a Day 1 patch or supplemental internet install. But I will hang on to my physical games regardless. Game publishers can pry them out of my cold dead fingers, because I'll be the last person to switch to all-digital 😂

I thought Until Dawn was a fun choice based game. My goal was to keep everyone alive and I had done so up until the final moments of the game when one bad choice cost me several lives. Had to replay the whole game just to undo that one mistake.
