How do you feel about games that are totally open-ended?

Do you like games that are really open-ended—like they provide only a shallow framework of uninteresting missions and/or no missions at all?

That does sound pretty boring and just doing uninteresting quest in that kind of world becomes really stale rather quickly...

Personally, I don't really have any problems with playing open ended games, in fact I do enjoy playing them anytime or any day but it's not that I'm not open to other kinds of game.
