Empire Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 I think esports has an uphill battle to get into the Olympics, for one very simple reason. Corporations pay through the nose to sponsor the Olympics. Given that, can you really imagine the IOC giving EA or Blizzard or Riot what amounts to free advertising on the largest stage in the world? The article implies that the IOC would have to pay EA, which is fall on the floor hilarious.
Darth Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 No and I think it would just ruin the Olympics really. The Olympics is for actual sports and honestly, as a gamer, I would never ever consider what we do as an actual sport. It's just weird and embarrassing that it's even being considered really.
