Kane99 Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Whenever you go on vacation, do you ever bring a handheld gaming console along? Maybe a retro classic like the Gameboy, or you bring a more modern handheld like the Switch or Steam Deck. I don't own too many handheld systems, but I do have one of those retro handhelds, the Evercade handheld that takes new cart based games. I could probably take that on vacation with me. But I wish I owned something like the Steamdeck. I could see myself taking something like that on vacation to hold me over while I do my traveling. What about you? What handheld console do you take on your travels?
Anders Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 It definitely used to be the Switch, but I haven't really brought it with me anywhere in a while. The thing I've brought with me more frequently the last few years is my Anbernic RG351M handheld emulator. It can play pretty much any system up to the PS1, but the thing I've used it for like 99% of the time is GBA emulation. The screen on it is the perfect aspect ratio for GBA, and the GBA has such a vast and excellent library of games to choose from. The last thing I played on it was Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, but the game I've played the most by far is Tetris Worlds.
The Blackangel Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Both Switch and Game Boy. I have games on both that I tend to start jonesing for if I don't have them readily available. So I take them both.
killamch89 Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 My Switch - I just got my Steam Deck fairly recently so the next time I go on vacation, I'm going to bring it along.
Ravenfreak Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 I hardly go on vacations these days, but when I was a kid I would just bring my gameboy color with me. I remember taking it to Florida when my sister and I went there with my grandmother. I plan on going to Chicago in October and I think I might bring my Switch or GBA SP. killamch89 1
Lens Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I also like to bring handheld consoles on vacation. My go-to is usually the Nintendo Switch. I love the fact that it has an amazing library of games.
Button Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 The Switch is absolutely a great choice. I've also brought mine on several trips and it's always been a lifesaver during downtime. killamch89 1

I'm a big fan of the Vita, but since it's not getting new games, I've actually switched to the Switch for travel.

Button Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Nintendo DS is indeed a classic choice for me as well. I'd like to bring Pokémon games, New Super Mario Bros., and Brain Age. They are all good for casual fun.
