My current phone I don't even have a grass screen on. Surprisingly I'm not dealing with any scratches or issues, but would you still suggest a screen protector, maybe a tempered glass one? I had one for my old phone, but I was always very careful with my phone, so I never felt the need to add one to my new one. Plus, I hate installing them, because I always get dust or hair under it. Instead I got a cheap case for it and called it a day. Do you guys bother with using screen protectors for newer phones?

Can you enjoy a game without being crazy about its gameplay?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I think you can enjoy games while not enjoying the controls. Does anyone remember the Wolverine game that came out on the 360/ps3? The one where you play as Wolverine and his skin starts to show damage. I remember being a bit annoyed about some of the controls, but overall I had a fun time with that game. I stopped playing during this car segment you have to be precise on, and I just gave up on it. But yeah, that game had some stiff controls if I remember correctly. -
If you could revisit one gaming generation, what would it be and why?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
No, not even to go back to see what it was like to experience gaming for the very first time? I think that'd be unique. But I get that, wanting to go back to the games that started it all for you, a nostalgia trip. I grew up in the 90s, so those games are heavy on my mind, but to go back further and experience the rise in video games, would be cool I think. -
There is definitely a case to be made that being good in video games translates to being good in some other things. I believe hand eye coordination is a big thing gamers have. I mean, who wouldn't have good hand eye coordination after playing games like Need For Speed back in the 2000s. Or the countless FPS games you may have played over the years. You also may have better control in your hands and arms. But I'm no doctor or scientist so can't say for certain. But I think it helps in some regards for sure.

What are some games you considered a masterpiece when playing, but can't see yourself ever going back to it? For me, I think it's The Last of Us. I really enjoyed that game, and consider it to be a masterpiece in gameplay and storytelling, but I can't see myself ever re-visiting it. Also, I don't think I could ever re-play The telltale Walking Dead games again. The idea of replaying it sounds like a chore. I remember you couldn't move that fast in game. If you could move faster I'd consider it. But also, I just don't see a point to. Anyway, what are some games you consider a masterpiece, but can't see yourself playing a second time around?

We've all played those types, the ones who proclaim to be the best at certain games. I have a friend who says he's the best at Call of Duty. Dude is good, no doubt about it, but he's not close to being the best. I remember years back some friends and I joined him in his attempt to do a 1v1 match. He and some other guy was talking crap to each other and then it lead to a 1v1 match. I recorded the 1v1 match back then, but lost the footage. I just took clips of each quick scope the guy got on my friend. It was so funny seeing him be destroyed in the game. But hearing him scream about losing was the greatest haha. He was mad, and I think he got even madder when I showed the video. What was even funnier, is that I didn't get all the kills in one video. Back then the game didn't let you capture many clips, but damn, was it funny. Have you ever bested someone who proclaimed to be a pro or the best? How was that feeling for you?

Can anybody be an esports player?
Kane99 replied to StormyFire's topic in Esports & Competitive Gaming
Sure, anyone could be, but it's easier said than done. I imagine most esports players practice for well over 10 hours a day, if not more. I like to think I'm skilled at some games, but even going up against the pros I wouldn't have much of a chance. If anything I'd lose fairly fast if I tried. But yeah, it's possible with dedication and practice that you can become an esports player. I wish I could play like that, because if I could, I'd give a tournament a try. Actually, I think I'd still try even with how bad I am. 😄 -
With the recent news of PlayStation possibly making their own Gamepass competitor called Spartacus, there was a mention of PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP games being featured. Do you think that this will include all of the catalog of games being backwards compatible? Or will it be like with gamepass where they can only license a few of the games from their back catalog to put up? I think if Sony could actually make that a reality, it would be a huge blow to Xbox, because they are only making a small portion of games backwards compatible, but if Sony can do all of them, and not have to worry about licensing, then they have a great console on their hands with the PS5.

With their recent attempts to jump into mobile games, I can see them trying to jump somewhat into the PC game. Now I don't think they would port every game over to PC, but I could see maybe a PC side of Nintendo one day, where some of their games release on PC. We already see Sony releasing some of their games via PC, so it's not far from reality. And with Nintendo already jumping to mobile, the idea of PC gaming sounds quote possible. Do you think Nintendo will support PC gaming as an option in the future? Or will most or all of their games stay on consoles?
-
I'm so happy to see that more and more games are supporting cross play. This not only brings gamers together, but it also helps sell consoles, because it shows that you can game with anyone. But, not all games are cross play, and some will never be. Do you hope that all future games support crossplay? As long as we can turn it on or off, I think it should be something all online games offer. What do you guys think? Will crossplay be a feature in all future online games? A feature that you can just turn on or off like how most games seem to be doing it nowadays.

Sometimes when we play a really tough game, we get angry. Some of us toss the controller down, some of us handle it easier than others, but sometimes we lash out, maybe hit ourselves, or punch a wall, break a keyboard or controller, etc. In the past I found that I would hit my leg or slap myself if the game was proving to be too difficult for me. I know that's very dumb of me, but it's something I did for years now. I'd get frustrated and I'd often hit my leg. Do you ever do something like that? Instead of tossing the controller across the room, I just hurt myself haha. But seriously, where do you take your anger out when dealing with a tough game?

Do you get fatigued by some types of games faster than others?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I tend to get fatigue in video games quite often, mainly stuff like having to collect items in games, or in modern open world games like GTA where you have to drive to an area to complete the mission. Same with Red Dead Redemption. These days I wish games were a bit quicker about how to do missions. Not in the sense of making missions quicker, but enough of the long drives to get from the start of a mission to the end of it. Why not give us a cutscene, and a place to go and that's the mission. Don't make a mission where you have to get a car, go to another spot, drive another car or vehicle and so on. It just get repetitive and tedious. Also, games with confusing menus. There are so many games, like The Witcher for example, that is full of menus that I just get lost in. When I first started the game years ago, I was overwhelmed by how much stuff you needed to know. It was so complex and that is partly why I haven't really picked it back up. I want to play it, but I feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff you need to know how to do. -
Yes please. I know some gamers would frown upon it and claim you're not a gamer, but that's BS. Play games however you want to. I love when games allow you to skip a tough section, especially if you keep getting stuck on it. I don't think it's wrong to want to skip that mission or section. If you want to get through it still, you can certain continue doing that, but if I can't do it, I'll take the chance to skip sometimes. There's nothing wrong with it imo.

Have you quit playing any games as a result of bugs and glitches?
Kane99 replied to Heatman's topic in Gaming Forum
For the most part, not many games have gotten me to quit because of glitches or bugs. Cyberpunk 2077 had its share of glitches that I got worried about, but for the most part it didn't stop me from playing. Now, with COD Modern Warfare 2 and COD 4 I had to quit sometimes because of the glitches and hacks people pulled on it. Other than that, I can't remember a game being so bug ridden that I'd quit because of it. I'm sure there are some that I am forgetting though, but I don't remember anything too recent. -
Do you research the best time/order to play DLCs?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I'm not quite sure about your question. Like research when to get the best deals on DLC? Or when to play the DLC? I usually play DLC after I complete the game. Most DLC to my knowledge, works after a game. But I think it also works side by side of the game as long as it's a side story not attached to the main one. Kinda how Red Dead Redemption 1 had the Undead Nightmare, which could have been played before or after the game. I remember Far Cry Blood Dragon, which wasn't even DLC but a standalone game. I think most games that do DLC, do it after the game is done, but they sometimes do a different story or time in the main story to not take away from the main story. -
We already have emulators for popular consoles, majority of them are retro console emulators, but there are some now for the Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, Wii and I believe they've even gotten the Wii U games working via emulation. Which made me wonder. How do emulators for the 360 and PS3 work? Considering that a lot of the games on those consoles worked online, and you can get trophies and collectibles. How would emulation work with that aspect of it? Would you have to emulate the console like the Xbox One and Series X/s does with past Xbox consoles? If I'm confusing you, apologies. I'm mainly referring to emulation of games that had online mechanics, but have features tied into the consoles. So would emulating an Xbox 360 game for example, also require you to emulate the system itself so that you can play games online and all that? Or are we just going to be able to play games offline?
-
Sure. I used to play a lot of Call of Duty, which I consider to be a large scale shooter, especially with warzone now. Battlefield is considered a large scare shooter as well, but has seen better days in recent years. I like large scale shooters as long as they're done right and are fun.

What setting do you want for the next BioShock?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I think it'd be fine going back to the underwater world of Rapture. That's what it was called right? I think it'd be cool to get a prequel game during the making of Rapture. Or some kind of story that takes place before the events of the first game. Or, they could do something in space, maybe have it take place on the moon or something. Idk, the possibilities are endless. -
Most misleading would have to be the trailer for the original Dead Island game. I posted it in another topic recently for favorite trailers, but it fits this topic as well. The trailer made it out to be this dramatic game where you had to keep your family safe. At least that's what was implied with the trailer. It implied it also had a good story, but it was pretty non-existent from what I remember. Also, you can check out the topic I made about your favorite trailers here:

Well this is all for the year of 2021. And yeah, some studios had a rough year, but we've had some great games come out this year. There will always be a winner for game of the year, but it's possible the games this year are worse than the last. But that's more opinion based. There are some good games on the list of awards, but nothing that's striking me as brilliant. 2021 was kind of an off year imo. But I'm hoping 2022 is a much better year.

I think the closest that can make it would be the Super Mario series. I mean, hasn't Mario games been around for like 35+ years now? I can see them hitting 50 years and more no problem. As for other games, I don't know. Maybe The Legend of Zelda series, GTA, Fortnite lol. Idk. 50 years is a long ways to go into the future, especially when I don't think we had 50+ years of video games yet. I think the first video game came out in the late 50s, and it didn't take until the 70s until consoles became a thing. So we're probably nearing our first 50-60 years with gaming. Honestly, I have a feeling that most IPs will be gone or forgotten in 50 years. I can't see most series sticking around, but I can see some making it possible.

Well, GTA is for the most part, still rated M for mature, so anyone 17+ can buy it. But Adult rated games are the ones with excessive violence, and possibly even excessive nudity. GTA V for example, is rated M for mature. It has nudity, but it doesn't go too far with that nudity. An adult game on the other hand, can do a lot more. But usually getting an adult rating, is a death sentence for a game, because most stores won't sell it physically in their stores. It was bad enough that GTA San Andreas was removed from store shelves because of the hot coffee mod. I know big box stores like Wal-mart don't sell Adult rated games, and most other stores don't either. So you lose a lot of sales potential making an A rated game unfortunately.

I think it depends on the game. When it comes to a horror game like the newer RE games, you want to hear your surroundings. If anything I find it more scary to be in a dark room with no music, because you don't know what to expect. Sometimes music can be overbearing as well, and defeat the purpose of a good scare, and some games utilize the same sound or music too much, like the violin sound that everything uses now, which kinda hurts the scares going forward. With horror movies for example, I almost prefer silence, because when you hear that creak of a door, or eerie sound in the next room, it seems to instill a lot more fear, but also adds to the dread I think. With Silent Hill, it worked because the music wasn't constant and worked differently depending on the area you're in. I remember Silent Hill 2 having sections with no music, and just sounds of monsters and metal sounds. Sometimes silence is enough. I watched this video recently on The Shining. I know it has nothing to do with video games, but I think devs could learn a thing or two about music and horror. Because the way they did the music for The Shining, was pretty cool. You can watch that video below.

Same here. It was a matter of time before they jumped into the fray. Just surprised it took them this long. We can only hope. Would be big if Sony were able to do that. I'm going to assume it'll be part of PC, since they've already ported a bunch of their first party titles. Isn't Epic Games getting a few of their titles, or was it Steam? I forget. I'm going to guess there will be a PC counterpart, but it will only be for the games they already ported over or plan to port over. I don't think it'll be every game though. Or I hope not.
