Kane99 got a reaction from BangEm in Playstation Exclusive - Tchia (Moderator Edit: Also on PC)
Looks really fun. I like the exploration side of it myself. Whenever I play something like GTA for example, I like to explore the world first and see what I can find before tackling the story. I feel like this is exactly that type of game where you can go right into exploring the world. Kinda like what Minecraft was.
I think if done right, it could be good. I think we've gotten too used to games showing us exactly where we need to go. I mean, RDR2 for example had waypoints, essentially a GPS, but if you wanted to, you could turn that off and use road signs and NPCs would sometimes tell you where to go. I thought that was cool, considering it made it feel more realistic.
I have a feeling they will guide you in some way, like at the start, they might say "Find land" or "Find shelter" or something. As well, it looks like maps eventually get filled in, so maybe the character builds up the map as you play, marking important landmarks, sights, and treasures, similar to how Arthur does in RDR2 when he discovers a new area. That would be my guess anyway, since they show a waypoint pinned on the map.
It might also work how Fortnite does, where when you land in an area that you have yet to go, it'll show up as blank & darkened on the map, and then once you go there, it reveals the location.

Kane99 got a reaction from killamch89 in Does gaming overpower television?
Exactly. It's almost like saying video games is better than Football. It doesn't really make sense to compare the two. Gaming is its own thing, much like tv is. Sure gaming may make a lot more money than movies and tv, but each of the mediums have their place.
It just comes down to what you like more or less. Someone might hate gaming and prefer to watch movies, and vice versa.
And yeah, everything has pros and cons attached to it, one thing can be better than the other in different aspects, but I don't think it ever overpowers one or the other.
If anything, gaming can help television, look at The Last of Us show right now, it's blowing up and now more people are taking notice of the idea of video game adaptations in tv form. It may have kinda failed with Halo, but the Last of Us is enough to show that gaming can be turned into tv. And I can see more games being turned into tv. I hear someone mentioned wanting a RDR tv show next. I would take that for sure. :D

Kane99 got a reaction from killamch89 in Do you feel mobile gaming will get better over time?
Sadly they never will stop. Mobile apps will continue to come out, utilizing the same scheme and methods of draining your wallet. Either it be by buying coins to buy an item in the shop, or paying to remove ads, or whatever else.
It's gotten to the point where I don't bother with most free to play games, I just look for games that cost money and check those out instead. At least then I'm not seeing the endless ads per mission or annoying popups and long loadtimes, etc.

Kane99 got a reaction from killamch89 in Which game release was the biggest letdown?
It had so much hype, I don't get how they failed it. Shouldn't just done another delay and waited until the game was fully ready.
Also another game that comes to mind for me as a major letdown would probably be WCW Mayhem on the PS1. I remember getting it for my birthday one year and I remember the copy I got wasn't working properly, so my dad had to run it back to the store to get a replacement. But, it didn't help much as the game was kind of crap. I forced myself to enjoy it, but I didn't.
Thank god I didn't buy the sequel Backstage Assault, as I remember renting it and hating every minute of it. I know the game is titled Backstage Assault. But I was expecting to at least be able to go to the wrestling ring and fight, but nope, they were true to the name and if I remember correctly, they only had backstage areas, hence the name Backstage Assault.

Kane99 got a reaction from BangEm in The "Disaster" Day Before...
I don't think this is a case of the game being fake. I think it's real too. What I think the issue is, is that they don't have nearly enough finished, so they went the route of copying other games for their reveal trailer they did a while back. At least they were accused of copying various games like COD, Battlefield (I think) and a few other games.
If it turns out to be real, I hope it's a success, but I'm not seeing anything that tells me this release is going to go good. But It'd be great to see it release and actually be a good game.

Kane99 got a reaction from BangEm in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty......Giving Nioh Vibes
I wanted to try out Nioh myself, but I feared I wouldn't be able to handle the difficulty of it, and if this is much of the same I assume I probably won't be touching this either. Not saying it's a bad game by any means, I'm sure both of these games are awesome, I just don't have the patience anymore for overly tough games. It's why I rarely touch stuff like Dark Souls, as I just don't have the patience for it.

Kane99 got a reaction from BangEm in Hitman 3 will now be known as "World of Assassination"
Hitman 3 will be changing to Hitman: World of Assassination that combines all three games into one box. Much like the third game already did, it's saying this new version will include the first two game sat no additional cost.
My hope going forward, is that they keep making this system better by constantly updating and adding new missions. I may pick up Hitman again because of it. Also I really want to try it in VR one of these days. :D

Kane99 got a reaction from killamch89 in Is E3 dead?
I'd like to see it become an open convention again. If they can't interest companies back, maybe change it to an event for gamers, maybe a place to meet developers, coders, etc. They could make it a celebration of the gamers too. Who knows what E3 will be in the next few years, they can try different things too.

Kane99 got a reaction from Shagger in Gamepads for PC
I would suggest PowerA even though they do use MicroUSB for their controllers. If you're worried about Micro USB, they figured out a solution for that, as the USB cord sort of goes into a pocket on the controller so it's better protected from damage. Never had issues with it myself and I have dropped my controller multiple times over its lifetime.
Their controllers are not wireless though, they just have a detachable USB cord. I have two PowerA Fashion Pro Controllers for Xbox One. Never had any issues with them aside from the sticks falling apart after extended use (rubber on analog falling off, though seems easily replaceable). The build quality too rivals that of the original Xbox one controller imo, and has lasted me longer than most OEM Xbox controllers have.
The controller is my usual daily driver for PC and Xbox. Even purchased my nephew one for Christmas last year.
Here is their site if you want to take a look - https://www.powera.com/
They do have a light up controller on Amazon here too that I couldn't find on their site - https://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Enhanced-Controller-Officially-Licensed-x/dp/B095JNZGC4/
I'm surprised they still work. Most of my Xbox controllers, from 360 to Xbox One have always encountered analog issues. But maybe that's because I haven't played COD religiously like I did on those past controllers.
But yeah, as you can see, I'm a PowerA fan and honestly prefer them over most everyone else. Plus their prices aren't too bad either.
I wish I knew other options. I have a Logitech controller, but it's stiff as hell and I hate it, otherwise I'd suggest that too lol.

Kane99 got a reaction from PGen98 in Which PlayStation One cases did you prefer? Long box or jewel case?
Yup. Most of the Sega Saturn games I owned in the big jewel case, were often broken or falling apart. They had the right idea, but I think the best case you could get was the the cases Sega used for the genesis. The hard plastic, was probably the best case you could get. I know they skimmed on cases going forward since they wanted to stop using plastics so much. Look at the 360/PS3 cases when they started getting rid of manuals, they also cheeped out on the cases.

Kane99 got a reaction from PGen98 in What are your thoughts on the DKOldies drama?
I think people would be okay if they actually honored cleaning products they ship out as refurbished. If something is refurbished, I expect it to also be cleaned in the process. They could as easily sell an item "as is" if it's never been opened up.
The prices they set is kind of an afterthought. The focus is more on the idea that they sell items as refurbished, but never refurbished them. I think what's happening is that they get a used item into their store, test it, and if it works, slap that warranty sticker on it and sell it as refurbished. So they can in turn also set a higher price.
If they were actually refurbishing these consoles, I wouldn't care. The prices are one thing, but lying to your customers about what they're getting, is not a good look.
They thought no one would be wise enough to open these consoles either, but YouTubers did exactly that and outed their scam. And they can't come out and say they're sorry for these problems, because it would show they knew about these consoles not being cleaned or even refurbished. So they have to play along and keep denying they did anything wrong. I hear it could also open them up to a class action lawsuit if they were to come out apologizing. Hopefully they correct these mistakes and sell actually refurbished & cleaned consoles going forward.
The prices could use some work, but there's not much you can do about that. It's their choice and they have a right to price their own way.

Kane99 got a reaction from killamch89 in What is the most thought-provoking video game you have ever played or heard of?
I'd have to say L.A. Noire, because it actually made me have to think when I interrogated people, investigated crimes and all that. It also gives you a look of LA in the 30,40s, and I think 50s. I forget the time setting. Anyway, you had to think in order to get the cases right. And you could end up arresting the wrong people.
Aside from that, RDR2 always makes you think with the subject matter. I think The Blackangel put it pretty nicely. There's just so much going for RDR2 in terms of its story, setting, characters, etc. It also gives you an idea of that time, the hate, the fear, the way of life and all that.

Kane99 got a reaction from The Blackangel in Do you think scalpers will buy up the PSVR2 as well?
Yeah I would never buy from a scalper. I hate how they think they're smart in what they do. They just hurt the market and waste people's time.
If I was rich, I still wouldn't bother paying a scalper. I'd just keep looking for a store that might have it. Otherwise I'll wait.

Kane99 got a reaction from Smokey in AEW's new game by Yukes Entertainment?
Yeah the new WWE game is expected to drop next month. I don't know if the new AEW game has an official release date, all I see is it mentions 2023. So probably sometime this holiday season is my guess.
I'm thinking of just re-playing WWE Smackdown Here Comes the Pain instead. :D

https://thegamebutler.com/2023/01/05/aew-fight-forever-preview/ Includes new screenshots and a video you can see below. Honestly this game is shaping up to be something special. I hope it brings me back to my childhood of playing WWF No Mercy. I miss those days.

Kane99 got a reaction from Kale in Hogwarts Legacy
I've been seeing a lot of streams on tiktok of the game. Looks to be blowing up in popularity right now. Though it seems mixed with fans in love with it and some against it because of J.K. Rowling.
Either way, looks like it's blowing up on most streaming sites. How long that will last, who knows, but it seems to be popular right now.
-
Kane99 got a reaction from Kale in Would you like to see 1 vs 100 back on Xbox?
Yeah, they could do so many different types of games and events if they wanted to. Don't know why they haven't jumped at the opportunity yet. Maybe it's because Microsoft and Xbox are lazy these days and rarely make exclusives of their own anymore.

Kane99 got a reaction from Shortie in What was your first Nintendo console?
My parents would have never gotten me a Gameboy growing up. But we ended up getting one anyway, when my sister decided to take one she found in a public bathroom many years ago. I still have that very Gameboy sitting in a drawer somewhere lol. I remember vividly how often that thing needed new batteries. I didn't play it much growing up because of that reason. Other issue was that screen for sure. If they had backlit display, it would have been so much better.

Kane99 got a reaction from Shortie in Video Game Live Streaming on TikTok
I think they're letting just about anything go up live. I've seen people streaming movies, shows, others live streams even. I streamers from all over the place doing different things. I think tiktok will eventually ban certain content. It feels like the wild west right now.

Kane99 got a reaction from Shortie in Characters that changed a lot over the course of a game or games
I think Jimmy Hopkins from Bully is the most changed. I mean, look at how he comes in, and then how it ends. He comes in as a lone wolf and then kind of becomes a popular person among the students. I feel he changed a lot over the game. And as well, he's probably the most progressive since he is open to any relationship in the game. I mean if you want to, you could kiss just about anyone in the game if I remember correctly.
Can't forget about Arthur Morgan from RDR2 as well. I feel like he came from a ruthless lawman to being someone respected and forgiven in a way. I feel like he broke from bad to good.

Kane99 got a reaction from Shortie in Did you own a Kinect?
I never owned one myself, but my sister had one and I would play with my nephew when I would babysit him. I liked it for its workout possibilities, but for gaming otherwise, I didn't feel like it did a whole lot for us. Sure there was some good games that utilized the kinect voice options, but I felt that's all it had going for it. Also I kinda wanted to mess around with one on PC to see if I can do anything fun with it. I hear that's where it shined the most.

Kane99 got a reaction from Shortie in Would you have wanted a true successor to the Dreamcast instead?
The problem with Sega around that time is that they kept wanting to make new consoles. The Sega Saturn came out with little fanfare and they decided to move on to the Dreamcast soon after. And I'm pretty sure there was a point where Sega was in talks about making yet another console after the Dreamcast before they inevitably decided it was time to call it quits on making consoles.
I may be wrong on that, but I swear that's what Sega did. They messed up by making too many new consoles too soon.

Kane99 got a reaction from Shortie in Would you like to see different coloured Series X or S consoles?
It's sad not seeing consoles or other devices like that again. But I guess the main thing about it was that it wasn't adult friendly if that makes sense. I think it's because it looks too kid friendly, or childish, that adults didn't have any interest in it back then, while us kids loved the hell out of those translucent consoles.
I think it's the aesthetic of it, in that adults aren't interested in having a colorful console sitting next to their VHS player back in the day, or looking like some giant popsicle on ones entertainment center.
Now days I think nostalgia has set in, and people are taking interest in these old style designs again. I wonder if one day we'll see a resurgence of translucent cases/devices.

Kane99 got a reaction from Shortie in GoldenEye 007 is finally coming to Xbox and Nintendo Switch
It still has split screen options, so couch gaming is still possible with friends. It's just that online MP doesn't work. I do agree with you though, it doesn't make sense not to include online mp when the Switch has it. And sure, we got the upscaled version, but I'm sure they could have still added online mp to the game.
Unless there's some deal with Nintendo that doesn't allow them to have online. I don't know if Goldeneye the franchise is owned by Nintendo or not, if it is, then I can see that being a cause.
