Gray Fox from the original Metal Gear Solid. He was a child soldier who was kidnapped by the CIA and experimented on. The particular experiment was to turn him into the perfect soldier - a warrior who would just be a walking killing machine without remorse. Of course, he was kept in a fluid-filled tank outside of battle to reset his memories and suppress his emotions. However, the project had a huge effect on his psyche when those memories and emotions started coming to the surface, constantly tormenting him to the point he started to beg for death.

    An awesome, detailed response :)

If you had the world's attention for 30 seconds what would you say?

I would say this quote from UG Krishnamurti:

"All the accumulated knowledge, experience, and suffering of mankind is inside you. You must build a huge bonfire within you. Then you will become an individual. There is no other way."

What products serve a better purpose than what they were designed for?

The Shrine of Stendarr in Skyrim makes for an excellent toilet.

    What's your favourite book?

I don't have one in particular. Favourite authors: Tanith Lee, Mervyn Peake, Shawn Michel de Montaigne. Books by these fabulous people :)

Who is your favorite video game character and why?

Booker DeWitt in Bioshock Infinite. He had some seriously towering darkness within him, but he still managed to beat it in the end.

    What's yours?

Have you completed all your holiday shopping? Any last minute gifts you're procrastinating on?

Still trying to figure out online sizing issues for one person, and no idea yet what I'll get the other.

We literally see it come crashing into the ground because of the fact that the 3D models either don't know where the other character is supposed to be or they reach the Uncanny Valley (explained below).

I think you nailed it (pun not intended). That is indeed probably why they are so awkward.

Who’s the most important role model or mentor you’ve had in your life?

In terms of people I've actually known in person, my first-year calculus professor in college. He challenged my world view and had a lasting impact on my life even though we only talked a handful of times.

Would you rather be too hot or too cold for the rest of your life?

If I am permitted to do something about the hot or cold, I'll go with cold, since I can layer up and get more comfortable. You can't really layer down past your skin when it's too hot. If I have no control over it ... cold, I guess, cause eventually I'll just pass out.

Probably not being able to re-sell a game disc if you want to sell it.

In a perfect world this issue should theoretically be moot as buying a game digitally *should* allow access to future versions of the game. Granted, it doesn't happen all the time, but the technology is already here to do that. For example, I bought Journey digitally on PS3 and it unlocked the digital PS4 version for free (about a year or so later). This also happened to the games Flow and Flower. Sony are pretty good with this sort of thing via their Cross-buy and Cross-save features. Whether companies will do these sort of consumer-friendly things going forward, well, that's the problem. Fair dos to Microsoft, though. They're doing some great things with BC on their consoles.

Ah, I didn't even know it worked that way. Is that standard now, or is it still something that is pretty new?
