I love HP Lovecraft’s writing. Only played one game that is directly based on Lovecraft. Around 15 games, I think. Off the top of my head, the oldest one is finishing off the campaign of Titanfall 2 (I’m about halfway through it).

Funnily enough, a long time ago, I started reading War and Peace and couldn’t get into it, though I was a lot younger then. Will try and track down a copy in a second hand bookshop. I’ll also keep an eye out for Ayn Rand - I’ve heard of her. Pretty sure her works are a big influence on Bioshock’s narrative.

Yep, Steinbeck is a terrific writer. Of Mice And Men is incredible and one of my favourites. Kurt Vonnegut is another favourite author of mine. A little more contempory, but Slaughterhouse 5 is a seminal novel for me. In a nutshell, it focuses on the Dresden bombing in WW2, in which Vonnegut was one of the few remaining survivors of. If you get a chance, check it out. It’s wonderfully written.

I’ve pre-ordered games in the past. It’s usually when there’s a really good deal for a game I’m gonna buy, or when there’s some freebies thrown in (like a soundtrack/artbook/badges etc). I haven’t pre-ordered a game for years, though.

I occasionally watch a Youtube tips video if I really love the game. And I sometimes look up tips for certain trophies if I need to.

Yeah, I like both formats for different reasons, too. I like that linear games, where you don’t make many choices, can gift us with a focused narrative; a story the developers want to tell. Whereas, I appreciate the freedom of games brimming with choice. That’s one of the many reasons why I love video games so much; they can all be so distinct and different.

Thanks for recommending both Poe and Shakespeare. They’re both very scholarly authors who I’d like to read more of. I think when I’ve finished with The Shining, I’ll try and segue into some Poe or Shakespeare. By chance, what do you think of Kurt Vonnegut and John Steinbeck? Both Slaughterhouse 5 and Of Mice And Men are a couple of my personal faves.

Aye, I’ve got Amazon Prime and it’s got a surprisngly decent selection of horror movies on there. It’s improved over time imho. It feels like the platform is really trying to compete with Netflix these days. Still think ‘flix is better overall, though.

I do like PS4’s Dualshock 4 but the most comfortable I find personally is the Xbox One/Xbox 360 controller. It’s a *teeny weeny* bit more comfortable for my hands.
