There are a few super relaxing indie games that spring to mind: Flow, Flower and Journey (all three are by the same awesome dev). I also find Skyrim pretty chill, as well. Just walking around Skyrim is super meditative and calming. PixelJunk Monsters is also a pretty relaxing game on PS3/PS Vita. A new one is out for Switch/PS4 too but it's not quite as fantastic.

Super interesting question. Definitely got me thinking. My knee-jerk reaction is that if Ellie is immune to the virus, then the truth is there must be more people who are immune to the virus like Ellie in the world, surely? Careful quarantining could be a way forward, but I think the fungal nature of the virus means it may take a long, long time for it to die out. Also, it could potentially lay dormant for many decades before it's truly wiped out. Heck, mushrooms can survive with very little nutrition for a very long time, so I'd say that some kind of vaccine would be essential for the survival of humanity. Just my two cents.

Gonna boot up Skyrim later this week and check out all these places to remind myself! Thanks for this 🙂

I think if you love narrative games enough then TellTale Games will always have an audience, even in spite of their aging engine. That said, I do agree with you all that after a while people are going to feel as though they are getting lazy and just simply don't want to develop the engine any longer. To put it bluntly: they are getting cocky and its biting them in the ass.

I think nostalgia is a really blinding thing when it comes to video games. As you said, there's nothing wrong with that, but I'm also under the opinion that relying too much on nostalgia ultimately leads to a lack of variety.

I've probably said this a few times already, but I think one of my more controversial opinions is that I just couldn't get into one of the most highly rated games of 2017: Super Mario Odyssey. It just didn't click for me, and I feel that the nostalgia probably clouded many people's judgement for that game. That said, getting fun out of nostalgia is fine--there's nothing wrong with that. I will try and give it a second chance once I get my backlog in order!

You know, I've no idea what my game of 2018 will be because I've actually played very little! Most of my time seems to be on Overwatch. Then again, I've played a few Switch titles that I ended up really enjoying. GOTY-worthy though? I might need to get back in touch with you about that one.

I've got really mixed feelings about it. Ni No Kuni 2 can be really fun but it's so predictable, and it makes the story seem kinda flat. There's a lot of collecting to do too (which I expected) and the game was far too easy before. Thankfully they've changed it so that there are more difficulty levels. That said, if you've got money to spare then I would give it a go because the game IS cute.

It sometimes feels like I'm swimming against the tide with my backlog. There's just not enough hours in the day!

I absolutely *adored* the original Ni No Kuni. One of my fave JRPGs of all-time. How're you finding Ni No Kuni 2? I was a little put off by the real-time combat system, lack of Studio Ghibli's involvement and the seeming lack of cute monsters to catch. I wanna check it out at some point and I've seen it for around 25 quid. Would you recommend it?

I play mostly on PS4 and Switch, but I occasionally boot up my PS3 for online (it's FREE!) and PS Vita for an indie/JRPG.

I personally love COD. It's my go-to shooter of choice. The MP is addictive and the zombies mode is a ton of fun with friends. Also, it has split screen which is rare in games these days. Been hooked since COD 4: Modern Warfare and never looked back since.

I've been a CoD gamer since MW3 and have played every annual title since. One of the most fun franchises I know.

That's kind of what Nintendo did as they were getting slapped by their own Wii U. Hopefully by next year MS has a huge wow plan in mind.

God of War for me so far.   But Red Dead 2 has a chance to beat it.

For me its a tie between the SNES, N64 and GBA. I enjoyed all three so greatly and got a lot of use out of them. Good times, I really miss those days.

I don't know that anyone really does it quite like Bioware, the Mass Effect games and DA games are really king at that.  But as Dylan mentions story based games like Telltale games, Detroit, or even Until Dawn build good stories but are also a very different type of game.  One game that I thought did well with relationship and character building was Kingdom Come: Deliverance.  It has some romance options as well that you have to take time to build, going on dates and such.

I think that the Playstation 4 Pro has better GPU and a CPU which is working on a higher clock rate. You can check the full specs here: https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/explore/ps4/tech-specs/

I adore my Vita but I 100% agree with Alyxx. The Vita is a great handheld that should've been supported more by Sony. Thankfully, indie devs and Japanese dev brought a ton of great small-scale experiences and big RPGs to the handheld and it works well as an indie/JRPG machine. It still holds a special place in my heart. Just wish those memory cards were a bit cheaper:/

My brother had an original "brick" Game Boy that we kinda shared. Or rather, he didn't play it much and I just kinda was able to play it whenever I wanted to. Best game was Tetris, definitely.
Then, for my 7th birthday, my grandparents bought me my very own Game Boy Pocket with Super Mario Land 2 and The Empire Strikes Back. That thing was great. Smaller, fewer batteries, and the LCD screen had better contrast. And Mario Land 2 was an incredible game, still one of my favorites.
I didn't get my first home console until early 1999. My dad really liked watching us play NFL Blitz in the arcade, so he got us an N64 with Blitz, Yoshi's Story, and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron initially. One game each for my brother, my sister, and myself. We were ALL OVER the N64, we absolutely loved it. In less than 3 years we probably ended up with 35 games 😄

I'm learning Japanese! It's an exciting language and can be really rewarding if you put your heart and soul into it. Skateboarding sounds fun! I've only been on a skateboard once and broke my arm so I think that may have put me off for life.
