  1. JRPGs in general are a very consistent genre to me. So pokemon too is consistent as a result. I can't really think of any pokemon games I disliked.
  2. True lol. At least the 2022 patch made it serviceable(according to reviews). I'm even considering getting it myself.
  3. The default way to play is playing in survival mode and trying to go from being a lone adventurer with no assets to building as much and living as long as possible. The days you survived for is the equivalent of a high score in this game.
  4. Switch is to be expecte dthough since it's even weaker than last gen consoles. However the first party games run butter smooth, it's only the 3rd parties that have to sacrifice fps to even run the game which was built for much more powerful rival consoles. I used to think we were still waiting for 9th gen to kick off but tbqh i'm now convinced that 9th gen is going to mostly be 60fps polished versions of 8th gen games until like 2025 or 2026 when the 10th gen consoles are about to release anyway. Sony has came out and said they are not making next gen games until 2024/2025 and MS said all their games are also going on Xbox One and/or PC. The pandemic gave other studios an excuse to not make any next gen games which I guess is here to stay despite COVID being in the rear view mirror.
  5. Seems consistent with the previous leaks about the latina protagonist and the couple. Also i'm guessing they're going to release it on the 10 year anniversary for GTA V. So next year around this time.
  6. There's more indie games now so there's more overall variety rather than the same rotation of generic AAA games every year like it was back in 8th gen.
  7. Last decade focused too much on progressing graphical fidelity at the expense of a good frame rate(hence why most games were 30fps rather than 60) and making games overly cinematic. I feel like since around the time 9th gen consoles came out the state of gaming has started picking itself back up and reversing these trends. There's also a bit more variety now whereas last decade a huge chunk of the popular games were open world or cinematic walking games or soulslike or a combination of either of these three genres.
  8. https://bethesda.net/en/article/E1GQNUk9ARha3zDoIkuTM/deathloops-free-goldenloop-update-new-ability-weapon-crossplay-and-much-more Can't wait to get back into my favourite game of 2021. This update will increase the replay value and matchmaking speed(because crossplay). I implore any Xbox Series owners here to give this game a go. It's very addicting.
  9. Which video game series do you think is most consistent in quality? I would say the Tales Of series. I wouldn't really say any of the games are that exceptional or bad either just consistently decent.
  10. Fifa. Same shit every year. Baffles me how people still buy the same game over and over again.
  11. Yeah, it scratched the DOOM itch since Eternal came out 2 years prior. Very pretty environments and fun mechanics. I wish it was a little longer though and that you could replay it in missions rather than having to play the entire game all over again. I would rate it a 7.5/10 myself. Also have you heard about Evil West? The same developers that made SW3 are releasing that in November.
  12. I listen to them almost as much as I do non-game music lol.
  13. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. I was elated to see that the games that got me into the series were being remade then I saw that they changed the art style so that the characters all look like little chibi plush toys and that it would be a complete 1:1 remake. Not just that but they didn't bring megas back, they didn't even work on the games themselves and just chucked the project to ILCA so they can work on the arceus side game. Not spending like £50 on an overglorified remaster.
  14. I think there should be a JRPG where there is a recurring merchant(like Oaka from Final Fantasy X) who is quite mysterious. At the end of the game, the merchant turns out to be the secret final boss and how powerful he is depends on how much currency you supplied him with throughout the game. Also some of his abilities and equipment depend on what stuff you sell to him.
  15. Youu might not even see him as a villain anymore with the new revelations in the DLC.
  16. It's great if you liked Ardyn as a villain from FFXV. You won't see him the same way after playing it though, keep that in mind.
  17. I'll be completely honest, I am heavily biased by the fact that FFX was like the 5th game I played as a kid and my first JRPG so he had a huge impact on me when I played it without any previous villains as a point of reference. Especially when I learnt about the twist, that felt like some crazy shit. Moderator Edit: As it appears you accidently pasted @Crazycrab's post into your own, I cut that section out. I hope you don't mind.
  18. Yeah, he has very creepy and sinister mannerisms. I liked his design it looks very regal. His hair may have been weird but it also looks stylish imo. My only problem is his poorly written motive where people dying causes suffering so his solution is to just kill everyone so no one dies anymore. But on every other front he is a great antagonist. Come to think of it he's kind of like a proto-ardyn when it comes to his role in the plot.
  19. That's fair enough. For me it goes Seymour(gave me chills as a kid), Ardyn(god tier villain), Kuja then Sephiroth then all the other FF villains.
  20. That too. I tend to think of Sephiroth more as a typical villain than Cloud's personal rival though.
  21. Rivalries are very enjoyable in video games since they are recurring anti-heroes or villains who have a personal connection to the player. These recurring conflicts between two acquainted characters make for very interesting drama and keep you wanting to see how it resolves(like if the rival joins your side or you end up killing the rival). Which would you say are your favourite? My list: 1 - Dante & Vergil(Devil May Cry) 2 - Yuri & Flynn(Tales of Vesperia) 3 - Velvet & Artorius(Tales of Berseria) 4 - Naked Snake & The Boss(Metal Gear Solid 3) 5 - Cole & Kessler(inFAMOUS) Honourable Mentions: Delsin & Augustine(inFAMOUS Second Son), Sora & Riku(Kingdom Hearts), Squall and Seifer(Final Fantasy VIII), Basch & Gabranth(Final Fantasy XII), Solid Snake & Liquid Snake(Metal Gear Solid)
  22. I guess but i'm tired of constantly playing cross gen games made for 2013 hardware. It's been 2 years into the PS5 life cycle yet there is only about half a dozen actual next gen games whilst by this point into the PS4 life cycle you had tons of next gen games. They can't even use the pandemic excuse anymore it's just greed.
  23. Ardyn DLC for FFXV. If they made a full game out of it it would be god tier.
