  1. So I like taking a look at steamDB from time to time, for various reasons, to see stats on various games, sales, total lifetime of players, and more.

It's very useful for being a free thing. ๐Ÿ˜‰
this data is very useful to know. It also helps me decide on whether to purchase games, sometimes based on some data that interests me. ๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿ“‰โœ…๐Ÿšซ

What do you use SteamDB for if you do?

    Here's the site:ย https://steamdb.info/

  2. yeah, I like the default color of the forum, as it's kinda "dark mode" already like how I like most of the websites, but I've read some article before about how some people like "white" themes better, or bright ones.

    ย

I usually understand forum themes are paid, having spent my fair share of time on multiple forum sites for years, (until now in fact) ๐Ÿ˜‰

but if it's just colors, maybe that doesn't need to cost much. Or it's free sometimes to tweak colors... ๐ŸŸฅ๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸฆR-G-B anyone? ๐Ÿ˜

    ย

usually the paid stuff is more on how the elements on the webpages are arranged, along with the color themes. but anyway, let's see what the opinions of the other members are.

on some forums that I go to, people like being able to set a "wallpaper" background or picture background, with glass blur effect on the main part of the post pages.

  3. Hey guys, I just got a 64 GB Steam Deck as a gift, and after installing some newer games on it, I figured out that 64 GB will not get me that far in terms of storage. ๐Ÿ˜„

    ย

So, I found my fatherโ€™s DJ Drone and thereโ€™s a 64 GB card in it, Iโ€™m not familiar with the specs, but if he was using it in the drone, it must have been a fast one, no? I know that the drone is two years old, and he has been using it heavily, so it must have had its share of reads and writes, would that affect performance? I think that this is his drone's model, it says Class 10 or UHS-1 card in the specs, is that good?

(here's a picture of the card from the drone) ๐Ÿ˜

    ย

I also heard about bricking horror stories, are those true? Do older SD cards tend to brick your device?

    ย

I was Googling around a bit and found several buying guides (like this one) that have good recommendations, I do plan to invest in to a newer SanDisk, but right now I canโ€™t shelve out $150 ๐Ÿ˜„

    Thanks so much!

Lol watching one of his videos now just because his name XD Was my favorite icecream "snack" growing up but they discontinued it now for whatever mind blowing unreasonable reasonnn they could come up with...

That's a good feature though and is kind of what Runescape does within their tournaments for DeadMan Mode.ย

wait that's a snack? *googling as I type this** ๐Ÿค”

Wowee, that looks delicious, I'd like to eat that sometime, lol.

also I found this recent news article unexpectedly, about the choco taco, from CNN. ๐Ÿ˜ apparently it won't quite go away after the company U-turned. ๐Ÿคฃ
    ย

The Choco Taco is not quite dead yet

New York (CNN Business)A few weeks ago,ย Klondikeย appalled the internet when it said that theย Choco Taco would be discontinued. This week, it reversed course, saying the beloved ice cream treat may be coming back โ€” eventually.

    ย

anyways, your watching his videos now? he's one of the guys I've been watching for a few years now, I mostly watched his PUBG content, and also the Super people ones too.

now that you mentioned the food product, that's probably where his name came from. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I never knew. I thought it was just a random username food gimmick. XD

  5. Any opinions on Valve and the handheld Steam Deck PC, I say PC because windows and any "Computer OS" can be installed in it. ๐Ÿ˜

    ย

Also, how do you think the gaming industry will be influenced by such a product as the steam deck going forward, as it runs using a version of Linux known as SteamOS.

Do you guys think that it's proper to be touted (by people) as a Nintendo Switch competitor? ๐Ÿค”

will the Steam deck boom or flop (I don't think so though ๐Ÿ˜…) as I've read opinions from both the pro-nintendo people, and the pro-steam deck people. there's always two sides.

I prefer the neutral side, and look at the pros and cons of each.

    ย

And since the SteamOS will get people to finally notice and program, or develop for linux, do you think that SteamOS has a chance in the future to be a competitor as an alternative operating system vs. Windows and MacOS? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm sure you have if you play online enough ๐Ÿ˜„

Actually its funny, there are people who "stream snipe" just to find pro players and beat them for compilation clips for their youtube channels. It's super popular in Runescape.

yeah I get it, it's funny, but I unterstand how annoying that is for streamers. ๐Ÿ˜…

one of the PUBG streamers I watch, ChocoTaco, constantly gets streamsniped sometimes
    https://www.youtube.com/c/chocoTaco/featured

that's why the streaming mode exists in games like PUBG, so that their "famous" username, doesn't show up in the kill feed, rather an anonymous name is replaced instead of their normal name.

I've tried to learn it and trust me, it's difficult as hell. I mean there are more user-friendly versions now but even those are way behind Microsoft or Apple in terms of usability.

yeah this is exactly the reason people keep drifting back to windows because "it just works" ๐Ÿ˜…

linux needs some studying before you can use it. ๐Ÿ˜‹

That's quite shrewd investment if you ask me, I pay 30$ and I have those list of RE games in a single file. That's something anyone who cherishe RE series should do and save reasonable amount of money.ย

yeah, I agree, though I'm still deciding if I want to pull out $30 as I have never owned any of the resident evil games, just played it sometimes over at a friends house. ๐Ÿ˜…

They still publish great games, it's just that they also don't always do the right things. Their track record is that they don't listen to fans all that much. They sometimes release good games, like It Takes Two for example. They work with other development studios. As long as they let their studios make the games they want to make, EA will gain some respect. But it's the constant bad decisions they make, like with Dice and Battlefield for example.ย

well, I'd agree with that EA, should let the dev teams under them per project, have (mostly) free rein, otherwise when they inject cash grabs as the front and center.... ๐ŸŽฏ well...

we all know where this is going. ๐Ÿ˜…

I understand that feel very well because EA have been very notorious when it comes to not doing anything with the feedback given by gamers. Why the stress in keep giving a feedback that's always been ignored?ย

I wish I could slap EA in the face seriously!!ย

This, I have honestly no idea what goes on in these "gaming" corporate politics. ๐Ÿ˜…

Makes me wonder whether open-source games are viable as an alternative for the future of gaming projects.

    ย

Although that has its downsides too. ๐Ÿค”

  10. I have no Idea if I ever played with a big name game celebrity in any of the games I played, because I just play the game.

I wouldn't know the top 50 players of any given big game if I tried. ๐Ÿคฃ that would be similar to work, or I'm a video game journalist, and it's my job to know these things. ๐Ÿ˜

    ย

but if that ever happened to me in the future, I'd brag about it lol. I also just watch clips from people that have defeated a big name, and that's GG worthy.

$75 thousand dollars per year is more than an aircraft mechanic makes on average, and mid tier competitors are pretty easy to beat in some competitions. So if mid tier video game players are earning $75 grand a year for basically being in average territory, then they are over paid.

    4 hours ago, ForwardSlashDownPoke said:

Nope. You can pop into a tournament with a $15 thousand dollar jackpot entirely unannounced (aside from registration) and after having started training 2 weeks prior to the tournament and take the entire prize home right on the spot. E-sports experience can build up skill and experience, or it could quite frankly create negative characteristics in a person such as boredom, exhaustion, depression, etc.

Hmm, this is very informative to me, also asides from the cash prize from tournaments, Esport players also receive salaries from the "companies" that own or sponsor them right?

    Just like normal sports teams.

I remember emoticons quite well. The first time I ever saw them was in a Yahoo! chatroom. I kept asking people how they made the little smiley faces. I was probably somewhere around 17. The internet was only probably 5 years old at the time, and really small. The same sure as hell can't be said now.

yep, now the internet is a grand cesspool with internet Icebergs ๐ŸงŠ floating everywhere and if you're not careful, you'll sink into a rabbit hole just like the titanic. ๐Ÿคฃ

Yeah it's essentially impossible to stream with one screen. You could do it, but it would be a pain in the ass to figure out. Plus, it'll be hard to talk with chat, pay attention to your OBS or capture program/streaming app and more. I honestly recommend 3 monitors if you have a popping stream. Where you can use one screen for the game, one for the stream (OBS for example) and another screen for just chat and maybe discord if you're using that.ย

But two screens will be a good start.ย

Yeah, I believe basically all streaming setups ends up being three screens minimum, and then after that the next level is to have a dedicated capture/stream PC to capture and record, plus stream the videos from your main gaming PC, to take off the stress on it. ๐Ÿ˜

  14. I've never tried a "standing desk", but I do sometimes work while standing up in front of my computer desk when I'm sick of sitting down.

    ย

I just angle the monitor a bit upwards. ๐Ÿ˜

I've this on Steam before and the only thing that the other person can see and access are the games in your library and that's all. The have no access to anything regarding your profile including your payment info, they can't access nor change your login details and they cannot add nor remove games from your account. It just adds thier games onto your library and that's it. Fearing your sensitive info being compromised is always a fair concern, but the family sharing feature on Steam doesn't make that any more or less likely.

yeah, that's probably safe, the same system probably exists on Google play family sharing, and Netflix's family sharing plan too.

They just get access. Done. They have their own accounts connected to the main one.

That's exactly the point because there was no way the kid would be able to afford getting himself that kind of game set up and the games he's playing.ย

Everything was down to his parents who FAILED him woefully!!ย

Reminds me of a documentary on obese children I watched... *sighs

    ย

every single time the child whined about letting him having more candy food, or sugary drinks, the parent would either give in immediately, or say no for a bit but then still give the kid junk food.

the kid was very very fat, and not even 10 years old yet...

    ย

that's waaaaay unhealthy. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ but parents just let them be. ๐Ÿ˜‘

Yeah some of the food does look good, like the Dosas, those look very tasty but there is not one single indian food restaurant in my city xD

One thing I know about indian culture is thag they mostly eat with their hands which is okay I guess but dude if someone is cooking my meal they should at least wear gloves or use a spoon or something you know

actually tons of cultures across the world eat with their hands. ๐Ÿคฃ after all, that's how our ancestors all would eat, no? like the ancient hunter-gatherers.

a lot of asian countries also eat with their hands. hint: (it adds flavor) ๐Ÿคฃ

    ย

anyway, there's this youtube food channel that I love watching, it's an american guy, whose name is sunny(sonny?) and he was once very fat, but got sick of it, became fit enough, and then travels the world now trying different food from different cultures.

    ย

he has a great sense of humor too. check his channel for his vids on indian food.
