  1. I've been spending the weekend playing the Final Fantasy XI private server called Horizon that just launched. I've never played the game previously (I tried a decade ago but got totally filtered by the old controls) but managed to get some friends to tag along and try it, and I've been having an absolute BLAST. It's old, obtuse and difficult to control but the immersion and MMO-feeling is absolutely excellent. I've managed to get to my elf warrior to Level 15 and only got my ass kicked a few times so far!
  2. Not for me or my family. We get together and enjoy the company of each other and trade gifts and the usual stuff. We always celebrated certain aspects of it in Swedish culture in a religious way though. There's a really old tradition called Lucia that's been around forever, kind of a procession, where people (it is very common in almost every school, but there are televised events with adults aswell) dress in white gowns and wear a crown of candles on their heads, and then they proceed to sing carols like Silent Night, but also a few, maybe less christmasy, hymns aswell. Sweden is not a particularly religious country in general, but many look to these events fondly as it's just simply quite comfy to celebrate and to sort of make the entire month of december have a christmas-y feel. I found a nice article if anyone would be interested in learning more: https://sweden.se/culture/celebrations/the-lucia-tradition

    Arcades

I was probably both too young, and in a not very optimal area (far northern sweden) for arcades. I remember a local movie theater had a few pinball machines and maybe a racing game, and there was a video rental place that had an area in the corner with some lightgun games and some racing games, and probably airhockey. But I was too young to be allowed to use them. I get why people are nostalgic for them though!
  4. Call me cynical, but it feels like since these news broke so suddenly, with the topic already being that Epic paid the settlement, it kind of makes me think that they want to sweep the entire thing under the rug, and not really change their ways. Granted, it's an unprecedented maount of money, but who knows. I don't play the game very often (like once a week maybe) and I only spent money on it I think once, so I don't think I've fallen victim to these patterns myself.
  5. I haven't played the game for myself, as I've hkind of held off on it. It's on PS Plus aswell but the filesize is so large that I've not found a good time to dedicate a day to try it out. I've heard good things though, and that it's supposed to be some kind of sleeper hit.
  6. I'd say my main is probably D.va. Her kit is just too fun, so incredibly fun and rewarding. Though now with Overwatch 2 I've picked up Orisa as I really really love her new kit.
  7. The PSP was SOOO good. I remember if feeling like such a cool luxury product with its metal details and piano black finish. Truly the Rolls' Royce of handheld systems.
  8. I'm a gigantic sucker for handhelds, and my favourite has got to be Nintendo 3DS. Some of my fondest memories on that machine, and the fact that it was back-compatible with the ENTIRE DS library, and had a (for its time) great digital storefront for Nintendo standards made me totally fall in love with it. I also absolutely love my PS Vita I bought a few years ago, which I managed to hack to enable emulators and all kinds of games. Also helps that it's got like the best D-Pad of all time. I know it's probably not in this timeline, but I would absolutely love another truly dedicated handheld device. With smaller and cheaper games. The Switch and Steam Deck are simply too big to do it for me. Edit: Oops, didn't notice this was such an old thread!
  9. Megaman mostly, since it's the one I grew up with the most, and always felt was really good at making spinoffs and other cool games. Another is Viewtiful Joe. I'd KILL for a third game, or even a HD port of the originals. There are probably tons more, but those are always the ones I think about off the top of my head.
  10. OP was asking for stuff explicitly not-Sonic, also Phantasy Star isn't playable I think as it was an MMO. Anyways, I came up with a few more if you're interested @BlazeNinja22 Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Fighting) Crazy Taxi (Arcadey driving - not racing though!) Soul Calibur (Fighting) Chu Chu Rocket (Puzzle) Skies of Arcadia (RPG) Power Stone (goofy unique brawler/fighter) Capcom vs SNK 2 (Fighting) Shenmue (Adventure) Puyo Pop Fever (Puzzle) As it didn't live for very long, there's not a whole lot of games to consider. So it's a bit like with NES or SNES, where most (not all) lists of the best games look more or less the same, but you can find something cool in almost every genre.
  11. I'm kind of glad I got an "okay" gaming PC at a great price two-ish years ago, since we got a PS5. Means I won't feel like I gimped myself since I mainly play MMOs and games specifically made for PC on it, and generally play more games on console anyways. 32GB just sounds unreal to me.
  12. Jet Set Radio! I only played it in 2014 and it became one of my favourite games of all time. The controls are a bit awkward but I love it nonetheless, highly recommended! You play as kids on superpowered rollerskates, drifting around Tokyo spraying grafitti and doing tricks. It has a really distinct style (I think it was one of the earlies examples of cel-shading) and an amazing soundtrack. Here's a trailer if you want to check it out.
  13. 6/10 - It's alright, but not something I'd listen to regularly I don't think. But it lends itself good to the corny ironic coolness of DMC no doubt! Here's one that always gets me real hyped, from one of my favourite SF characters:
  14. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT for PS4. One of the worst games I've ever played and an immense letdown in every way.
  15. I got a few from when Smash 4 launched, together with my brothers we got our favorite characters. I bought Link along with the game, then I also got Ness, Captain Falcon and Samus I think? My youngest brother collected a few fun ones like the big sprite Mario from when Mario Maker launched.
  16. Maybe they didn't plan DLC ahead of time, with fear of the game underperforming, but changed their mind when it apparently did pretty well (I've yet to play it but I really want to)? If so, a DLC might not be impossible I'd reckon. Or even something like a sequel to create kind of a subseries in the same world? It's Bandai after all, and they seem to love squeezing as much as they can from a game when it's deemed profitable, even retroactively. The same happened to Dark Souls 1, what with the expansion more or less being restored and expanded initially cut content, as is evident from the artbook of the original game.
  17. He's already a Witcher in the first game, and there's a billion books if you want more lore. The game's are standalone stories from the books though I think, but the world and groundwork is all the same. I've only read the first book (The Last Wish) which is like a collection of short stories of Geralt's adventures and I really recommend it!
  18. 7/10 - Really good, I didn't play this game but I've listened to so much synthwave the last 5 years that it sounds a bit too simple for my tastes. Still great stuff nontheless, though. Here's another one from I game I personally haven't played (But want to!) though I've listened to it a billion times in Smash:
  19. 1000/10 (10/10 just to be official) - Cannot overstate how mighty this one is. Shivers every time. Final Fantasy X has a perfect soundtrack imo, not a single bad track and this one is just godlike. You inspired me so I'm gonna continue the RPG train for a sec. My personal favourite track of the game and it becomes even more poignant if you know the details regarding the main menu theme and this theme:
  20. 9/10 - Amazing. When Snake Eater came out, I was too young to really play it, and found the music corny because I didn't get that the entire game is such a homage to Spy films, but as I got older and got to play it myself (It's my favorite MGS game now), I really love it. My next one is a really relaxing, nice tune from Smash (The original is from Pilotwings Resort I think?)
  21. The exacy same thing happened to me actually! And after the initial tutorial area (White Orchard) I felt kind of overwhelmed at the options, and I ran into a big city way to early and got ganked by a beggar in an alley. The second time I tried I got further along the right track and learned the game better, but I never got past the second act, but I'm ready to give it another chance, probably some time next year.
  22. 10/10 - Just an absolute classic! Masterpiece even. I love the DKC music aswell but Aquatic Ambiance is just immortal. Here's something on the exact opposite end of the stage bgm spectrum. It even manage to make an elevator stage feel awesome:
  23. You forgot to share one for yourself! But that's alright, I'll just continue with another one to keep it rolling :) I haven't actually played this game myself, but I quite like the music!
  24. Moderator Edit: Quoted post has been removed. Isn't this film music? This thread is for rating video game music.
  25. Psyched. Been waiting for this for a long time. I never had time to play TW3 on PS4 since I bought it at a random sale and I'm glad I get to play the upgraded PS5 version without having to pay more.
