    Sorry, but I felt compelled to say this little disclaimer because some fans of these games are so sensitive and unable to take criticism they rally round to kick me off message boards and gaming communities just for expressing my opinion. I'm not kidding, it's happened before.

    Before I get to my games, I wanted to respond to this. The people that pull this kind of shit, well I have two words about that: FUCK THEM. Not everyone is going to get along, or agree on everything. It's ridiculous to think otherwise. I can't say anything about Daemons Souls because, while I have the game, I have yet to actually play it. I know, I'm lazy. It's your right to not like a game. I personally hate Halo and GTA. Many people think I'm fucking nuts. Some will agree with me. But all in all, stick to your guns, and tell the others to piss off. You and I didn't exactly start off on the best foot, but I think we've moved past it. We choose to stay, or we choose to leave. Who gives a shit?

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Now on to my game entry.

    I would have to put DarkStone for PS1 on this list. The game is impossible from the start. The paths through the forest outside the town are so monotonous and many so well hidden that you can never find your way around. The enemies pop up out of nowhere and before you know it you're dead. Finding your way back to town, even with your map, is a whole quest in itself. The game is absolutely terrible.

    One that while I can enjoy, but can't stand at the same time is Zelda: Goddess Of Wisdom. It's a ROM-hack, but it is so god damn hard that it's next to impossible. I've been playing it for three years, and have only just found a third dungeon. I say A third dungeon because none of them are labeled in any way, and I have no fucking clue if I'm going in the right direction or not. The items I need, I'm not getting. I don't know if they're dungeon items, or something I'm supposed to find somewhere on the world map. It's honestly one of the hardest games I've ever played.

    One that I'll keep playing until I beat it, not because I enjoy it, but because after 30+ years of trying is Legacy Of The Wizard. I've talked about it before. You have to find 4 crowns to release and awaken a dragon so that you can kill the dragon. I have so far found only one crown. I'm too stubborn to give up. But once I do beat the damn thing, I highly doubt I'll ever play it again. It's gotten so bad that I've devolved to using a Game Genie to power up my characters to try to make the game easier. It doesn't help.

  2. I have tons of extra systems, many duplicates, that I'm bundling to sell. I'm wanting to get a cheap Xbox 360 to put in with it, but I don't have the money at the moment. As it sits I have about 7 PS2's, and 4 PS3's. The reason for that is because I buy bundles myself, mostly for the games that are in the bundle. And I always end up with an extra system that I honestly don't need. I have NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis(gen1 and gen2), PS2, PS3, Atari, and another system but I can't think of what it is at the moment, all going in to the bundle with games for each system. That's the reason I want a 360. To sweeten the deal. But as it is, I still can get a pretty decent chunk anyway.

    The Polybius story is always a classic in video game urban legends. AVGN did an episode on it a couple of years ago. This well worth watch, James Rolf is just hilarious.

    I played a game in an arcade that was called Polybius. I'm not saying it was the legendary Polybius. We all know it wasn't. But they shared the same name. I don't remember much about it (it was after all about 25 years ago) but it was ok enough that I played it more than once. I think that was just because it was better than other games while I was waiting for the one I wanted to open up. But that was when one play on any game as a quarter.

  4. Realism can add to a game in some ways, and take away from it in others. Like in Zelda OoT, with the bow, Links breathing makes him move . He doesn't have perfect steadiness the way he does with the hookshot. And in FF8 the monsters seem to be able to actually think, especially the GF's that you have to fight to gain. If the NPC's and enemies act as an intelligent species with the ability to think, and aren't statues, then you have the necessary realism to make a great game. Early systems (Atari, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, etc.) are an obvious exception as they didn't possess the capabilities for so much detail.

    I'd have to agree with your choices as well because I am struggling to thing of any other games with great dynamic weather features - One thing I'd like to see implemented in a game is it goes from a perfectly sunny day to a huge tornado wrecking everything in the blink of an eye. That'd spice up any open-world game - you could use those storms as a way to escape enemies.

    I would love that. The harshest most devastating weather imaginable would add so much to games. I love overcast days, especially if it's raining. Even better if that rain is a flash flood inducing downpour. I've watched tornados with my own eyes, not on video (damnit) and I've seen floods on a biblical scale. The only 2 storms I can think of that I haven't personally experienced (that commonly hit the US) are earthquakes and hurricanes. The west coast has earthquakes every other day, and Florida has hurricanes every 5 minutes. I'm landlocked in the middle of the country. So unless we get a hurricane so big that the asshole in the middle is Oklahoma City, I don't have to worry about them. And unless we get another earthquake so violent that the Mississippi river runs backward again, I don't have to worry about them either. Although I think it was technically the aftershock that flipped the tide on the river. Could be wrong.

    I've been playing Shovel Knight as well for the first time, I just finished the boss fight with Spectre Knight.

    How are you guys liking Shovel Knight? I picked it up a while back (due to it having SNES style graphics), but have never actually gotten around to playing it.

    Ah, nostalgia.

  7. I started wearing glasses in my mid 20's. I didn't realize just how bad my vision was at the time until I put my glasses on for the first time. Now my vision is so bad, that anything over 2½ feet is so blurry, I can't tell what it is if I'm not familiar with it. My optometrist has told me that it's a possibility that I may be legally blind by the time I'm 50. Also macular degeneration seems to run in my family, so that's another thing I have to worry about, as if I didn't have enough fucking health problems as it is.

  8. The only gaming light I can think of off the top of my head was the Light Boy for the original big fat gray Game Boy. Since then everything has either been backlit, or played on a monitor/TV. Unless your calling a lamp a gaming light? Or maybe one of those book lights that you use so you can read in the dark?

    I am referring to the below type of games. They have better budget but the game made is like in 80s and 90s. This type of graphics is not needed anymore.

    You could have a point there, but look at the success of games such as Minecraft. Games don’t have to have life like graphics. Some people need it. Some don’t. It’s a personal choice on their gameplay.
