Possible Gaming Trends This Year?
The Blackangel replied to Aerielle del Rosario's topic in Video Games
I see continuous remakes, and next edition of games that should have been done ten titles ago. Things like Mortal Kombat. I get that it's an extremely popular series. But it's getting to the point where it's like "Ok. It's time to stop. We don't need to see Scorpion taking a shit, since that's all that's left." I'm personally getting really sick of it. Hell due to this constant "next in the series" shit, I almost can't bring myself to play the original MK on my SNES anymore. It's like Friday The 13th. There are literally 10 sequels and one remake. Can we say STOP? -
I have 3 NES & 3 SNES consoles, all in perfect working order. I pick up bundles off CL all the time. If there's a problem with a cartridge system I fix it and resell it. Or hang on to it for myself. I have a couple N64,s and a few Sega's. Both gen1 and gen2 Sega's. I also have 3 PS3's and more PS2's than I know what to do with. Then there's also my Atari 2600, and Sears Home Gaming System. But that one I don't play because it's complete in box and I don't want to fuck anything up.

Ok. That's it. The Batman series has officially given up.

I still play my NES, SNES, & N64 regularly. None of them are modded, and they are the original actual systems. I have no problems as of yet, but you're right. They will break down eventually. The NES can be moody as hell, but that's to be expected from a 34 year old system. They were released in 1985 after all. But either way, I'm sticking to gaming that way.

You do have the facts right, but there's one major thing you're forgetting. Nostalgia. For a lot of us, things like emulators and flashback consoles make us want to puke. We can't bring ourselves to play it unless it's the real thing. I grew up in the Atari 2600 and Colecovision era. I ended up getting the flashback for both systems as gifts a couple years ago. I can't even bring myself to open the boxes. They sit in my closet untouched. Nostalgia carries a lot more weight than a lot of people realize.

My favorite was always the Diablo font. Something about it just clicked with me. Off the top of my head I can't really think of one from gaming that I hate, but there is one that I've always despised. It's that fucking blood font. I can't stand it. It's so stupid. If you're not under 10 years old, then by using it you're only going to make yourself and everyone around you look like an idiot. My all time favorite font however is Minister 5.

Thanks the Gods I'm a solo gamer. -
How do you name your open world characters?
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Video Games
I either go with my nickname or screen name typically. My nickname is Panda due to my love of bamboo. The Blackangel is a name that I've had for over 20 years. -
I'm sitting here playing Castlevania: SOTN. I just got the Holy Symbol. I stopped for a second to get a quick drink, and saw something I had never noticed before. While Alucard is under water, if you look for a second you can see his breath bubbles floating to the top of the water. I thought that was kinda interesting. So what are some things you never noticed before until way later?

I just plug it in when I go to bed.

WHO now officially lists "gaming disorder" as a disease
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
The problem there is that SJW's are completely bigoted and intolerant. They go nuclear if something doesn't fit into their tiny bubble of "ME ME ME". In their eyes every last person on earth is required to conform to what they want at all times. Individuality is a crime now. If I wasn't in a wheelchair, I would like to stomp every one of them I see into the ground. They are doing nothing good for the world. They are only fucking up literally EVERYTHING they touch. -
Yeah. I play them daily. They're almost the only consoles I play.

Very true, but it's an easy scapegoat. -
Deadpool 2 10/10 Not as good as the first one but still funny as hell. Ryan Reynolds always does an amazing job in roles with characters who are complete cynics.

I think a lot of it depends on how open world the game is. If you're in a confined space that is the exact same every time, it can get boring. Compare virtually any Final Fantasy game to a game like Castlevania: SOTN. Wide open world vs closed castle with the exact same map and path order every time until you reach the invert. Once in the invert you can choose the way you want to go at will, but prior to that the game has a set pattern for you to follow if you want to progress thru the game.

WHO now officially lists "gaming disorder" as a disease

None that I know of. But I also don't keep up with medical journals and studies either. All I know is that when a guy does something that makes him feel more "manly" it can boost his testosterone production. -

Luckily though, that effect varies from gamer to gamer. I knew a guy that gaming had the opposite effect on him. He played only the most "manly" games on the market. I heard his mother say that he had had a checkup from the doctor, and his testosterone had gone through the roof. He laid off the games for a few months and it went back down to the normal range. I had known something wasn't right with him, because he was like a bull on steroids. I'm just glad I never slept with him. That would have been a grudge fuck from Hell. -
Is anyone familiar with this game? I came across it today when I was cleaning out some stuff. I didn't even know I had it. So obviously I've never played it. I'm looking to get some opinions about it from those that have played it. I looked it up on Wikipedia, but that didn't really help much. So I want to get it straight from the horses mouth, so to speak.

What do you want to see from video games the rest of this year?
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Video Games
Thank you!!! I'm getting tired of everything being an online multiplayer game as well. -
All the fist weapons in Castlevania: SOTN. They are absolutely useless. Sure some of them up your attack in the beginning, but you have to be so damn close to the creature that you're gonna take more damage than you're going to deal out. That's why I keep my Alucard items in the beginning.

Video games that were banned in your house when you were a kid
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Video Games
Anything they determined was annoying in any way. Be it graphics, sound, story, or even cover art. Which encompassed a hell of a lot. -
Red Island A really fucked up movie. Poor production quality, fairly shitty story, and a big lack of any actual activity. 0/10

There's a bit of a minority of us as classic gamers where the old systems are already in high demand. I've had offers for my Atari 2600 that have topped $200. Obviously I turned it down. I don't know how it is in other areas, but here it's next to impossible to find a working Atari that hasn't been modded.

Games you didn't plan to play, but ended up liking?
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Video Games
Blackthorne Some neighbor kids had it when I was a kid. They were playing it one day and it drew me in instantly. I had seen the game in the store but the box cover turned me off. Then I saw them playing it, and I had to get it. Been playing it for over 20 years now.
