Welcome to the forums @Voltairus, and I couldn't agree with you more. It is important it is to maintain a sense of purity for a remake, but stubbornly sticking to elements of storytelling and writing that were just make for a different time and for a different standard not only makes it less enjoyable for old fans, but can comprise the game itself and make it worse than it could have been. I recently tried the Trials of Mana Remake (You can download a demo from Steam) and my god this needed an overhaul of its story like the FF7 remake appears to have got. Because I never played the original, I can't be sure it's exactly the same, but in terms of storytelling this feels like from 1995 and for all wrong reasons. The plot is cliché, the characters are beyond stupid and set-ups pathetically predicable. It's just nowhere near the standers of a game even a few years older, never mind the standers of a game in 2020. It's such a shame because the game itself is gorgeous and the gameplay, whilst maybe a little simplistic, is enjoyable. Star Fox: Zero also fell flat on its ass in terms of storytelling because it was a re-tread of the same story from Starfox 64, which itself was a re-tread of the plot from the original Starfox. A game from 1992. That game had other even more serious problems than that, but that's a whorl other set of gripes that don't apply here. I'm not saying these remakes need to move from being Disney flicks to become Quintin Tarantino films to be taken seriously, all I'm saying that developers can honour the original characters and stories by re-telling with a writing created for a modern audience aiming for modern standards. Don't make the game that it was, make the game that it could have been if it was never made and only came out today. As far as I can tell, that's what FF7 Remake has done with its creative liberty and I like that.

A mixed bag of news. Whilst TLOU 2 will now release on June 19nth, Ghost of Tsushima has been pushed back to July 17nth instead of the originally planned June 26th. Kotaku article here. This is happening almost certainly because a disgruntled Naughty Dog employee leaked the plot of TLOU2 online, so to avoid spoilers be very careful on YouTube, Reddit and social media over the next few weeks. With this leek, they're bringing TLOU2 out perhaps sooner than they were going to and pushed Ghost of Tsushima back to avoid both these games coming out in the same month causing lower sales for both and creating a logistical nightmare with both games coming out within days of each other. It's a shame that this leak happened, but I am glad to be getting a new release date game and getting it soon. Frustrating for Ghost of Tsushima fans for sure, but it's not a long delay, so I think this will not affect them too badly. EDIT: A Gamespot Article with a bit more information

True, but even a good 2K is garbage when held to standards that you would expect from anyone else. The only thing that you could accredit them was they can make a good looking game, but even that standered has slipped in recent years. They're games aren't stable, they're too keen to mess around with control set up when there was nothing wrong with them and their monotisation practices are some of the worst in the industry.

This is most likely a problem with the console itself, possibly overrating. If it is an original fat PS3 then it will be well over 10 years old now. Try given the vents and fans a good clean and position the console so there's plenty of space for the air to flow through it. If the problem persists then I'm afraid there isn't much you can do, this is just what can easily happen with older consoles, especially early versions of them.

Welcome to the forums, but I'm a little confused. You would have called yourself "Super Sexy Sports Car", but went for "Family sedan"? It's the internet, nobody would criticize you for exaggerating lol. I kid, glad to have you here.

That was literally your first post! No introduction, no "these are the games I like to play", no "this is my favourite platform", no pic's of your pets wearing human cloths because it's funny, nothing. Just sign up then immediately present us with a survey that "totally won't" find out any information useful for marketers, so what are people supposed to think? You're right, people do consider this spam and it being done with lack of tact or subtlety is exactly why.

No thanks. I'll wait for Tales of Arise. You know, the actual next tales game that you don't pay on a phone.

I actually got Kingdom Come: Deliverance as a freebie from EGS a few weeks ago, but still a sound suggestion. I'll certainly consider those other games. Brexit is very much happening, but It's not really affecting this kind of shit.

I actually think it would more interesting to find out why a desire to play video games as a hobby has a more of a phycological interest to people than other hobbies, like building model trains, playing golf or fishing. No wait, I know, it's because these "surveys" are actually lures for info on gamers to sell us bullshit. Seriously, cut it out! You're not breaking any rules, but you're not fooling anyone either.

Problem 1) Most of the FF games I'm interested in I already own. Problem 2) There ARE no FF on EGS.

Still, best to avoid any Valve developed game on Steam until the all clear is given (if it hasn't already, at this point I haven't heard anything).
-
There is no game called "King's Raid" on EGS.

You're downplaying this and not stating the full facts. This is serious. Based on what I saw, it is (or at least was) NOT safe to play the game. In fact, sensible advice steers people away from paying any Valve developed game on steam (and not just CS:GO) until patches are out. This leak didn't threaten personal details stored on Valve's servers, but could allow hackers to access your computer files and install any number of unwanted software on one's personal computer. From ransomware, adware, or aim bots and other cheating software to get your gaming accounts banned. If my understanding is correct, a development subcontractor working on something with valve was given access to source code for valves security protocols to make their development work on this project possible. The project never came into fruition, but a disgruntled former associate of this subcontracted development company, who was involved with apparently some very toxic and prejudiced underworld gaming communities leaked this code on 4chan out of spike after being fired. This is a really embarrassing thing for Valve as this could have happened any time and the threat have been easily been nullified through patching over the last 2-3 years. Valve being Valve though, they didn't bother, even though they knew former contractors had this source code. This leaker is the one primarily to blame for this, but this situation was made possible through Valves lack of vigilance in the first place, so they have to be accountable as well. Here's the twitter thread from a representative of this company that this individual once worked with to gain this source code.

Story driven, action adventure, RPG, but like I said I'm not focusing to hard on genre here, I'm fairly open.

I think this is a good thing. WWE hasn't had a good tie-in game since 2K took over and they only got worse, culminating in the disaster known as WWE 2K20. This franchise needs a break to get it's shit together, and honestly if WWE were to look elsewhere to produce the games that might be for the best.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I know that won't help. They made it perfectly clear what the score was with this thing, it's not their fault that I forgot all about it. This is my only option if I want to make use of it.

I have an unused Epic Store coupon worth £10 that's going to expire on the 1st of May; I've checked the T's and C's, I can't use it on in-game purchases, pre-orders and can't sell it or give it away, so it's either use it or lose it. So basically, does anyone have any game recommendations? I don't particularly want to spend it on a full priced AAA game because that still spending a good £40-£50 and, as you can see, the game needs to cost at least £13.99 ($15 on the US store). Of course, the game has to be on the Epic Games Store, Steam is no good here. Not going to specify genre as I'm feeling pretty open about it. I'm not sure what I want, so any help would be appreciated as I'm just shy on impulse an inspiration right now and I just want to avoid wasting this thing if I can.

Pick one videogame that represents you as a person.

I'll probably change my mind in 5 minutes, but for now I'm going to say the Godzilla Games episode. This felt like a more personal journey for him, but still managed to make the episode very funny. Action 52/Cheetamen, Home Alone games w/Macaulay Culkin, Toxic Crusaders w/Lloyd Kaufman (That one is hilarious), Mario 3, Batman Games, Dark Castle and the Philips CDI are all very good as well, but I'll stick with Godzilla for the moment.

As far as I can tell, it's a licence based on a live action adaptation of a book series from the 90's of the same name, Animorphs: Shattered Reality. I have never hard of the book series or the show, so I can't comment, but when something isn't remembered from the same era targeting a similar demographic as Power Rangers or Goosebumps that's got to be a bad sign. @kingpotatoThis is what is referred to as a 2 1/2D platformer. Mostly 2D, but with a third dimension being explored in some aspects of the gameplay. Crash Bandicoot works in the same genre. This is a let's play I found being played by someone who is familiar with the source material, so it's a good insight into what the game is about. As aforementioned, it' a 2 1/2D platformer with some bizarrely brief combat sections where you morph in an animal (That's something from the lore I assume). It looks clunky and difficult to control, it's not a particularly good-looking game with odd on odd mix of at styles and low res' graphics even by PS1 standards, although it looks challenging and there's a varied offering of platforming obstacles. Overall, I doubt it's worth playing, but @The Blackangel, I'll let you judge for yourself.

I can't quite tell if this is a fun tribute fuelled by fan passion, a complete piss take or a DMCA strike waiting to happen. Maybe all three. I've never seen the show, so tis obviously isn't for me, but I still wish these devs the very best of luck and this has potential.

I've been mixing it up. Gaming here, bit of Netflix there, social media and YouTube in between. I'm not doing too bad, but it's getting harder.

I see "simulator" on the title of a game, I immediately social distance myself from it... before that it was cool. The world is full of posers.
