Game Development

Recommended Posts

Have you ever tried working on your own video game? What was your experience like?

I'm a programmer and in a previous job worked some number 1 games here in Australia. I'm hoping to one day open my own studio and work for myself, but I have a few things to sort out before that's possible.

How about you?

At the moment I am actually developing my own game, a metroidvania run'n'gun platformer called ETHER, which is heavily influenced by games such as Metroid and Duke Nukem. It's style is pretty much intentionally mimicking early 90's DOS games, particurarily those by Apogee Software, using a 16 colour EGA palette and SoundBlaster/AdLib OPL synthesizer sounds and music.

Dude, that is awesome and looks like fun! I'd love to know when you release it. I love Metroid, and I'm glad you're inspired by it and started working on your own game.

On another note, I've never even thought about game development. ZERO knowledge in that area... LOL!
