How tall are you?

Hi.
I like sandbox and open world exploration games. It relaxes me to go around the map doing quests, collecting and crafting things and discovering things, trying to survive or make the goal to beat the game.
I don't consider myself a "hardcore gamer" because I play an hour and a half a week and I'm not up to date on what's new. But I usually pass the games in the maximum difficulty or the previous one if it's excessive, so I would not consider myself a casual.
If I had to say my 7 favorite games they would be, in order from best to worst: Outer Wilds, Subnautica, Bellow Zero, The Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Long Dark and Green Hell.

My first video game was "Pokemon Sapphire" for Game Boy Advance.

Welcome to VGR. Always nice to see new folk joining. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

With the recent release of The Callisto Protocol being marred by poor performance and other issues, it made me wonder about all the other games that have been coming out broken messes. If feels like we get more and more broken games at release and at this point it feels never-ending. It's like games like God of War come out pristine with minimal issues, but then you get games that are released in clearly unfinished states, and it seems to be happening more and more these days. 
What can we do as gamers to stop this? I am all for studios taking as much time as they need to make a game. But I don't want devs to rush a game, release it and then say "oh we'll get these problems fixed and to a point where we want it". But it should never get to that point. Studios should be striving to make their games as playable and unbroken as possible. 
It's tiring to hear that yet another game has arrived to mixed reviews because of the poor quality of game at release. 
I know voicing our opinions has done nothing at this point, people are clearly fed up, and studios keep doing it. 
Do you think this will ever change? Or will we be stuck in this new routine? 

Hi all, just to let you know ive started uploading the 3rd game in the Dark Pictures Anthology, House Of Ashes! I've already uploaded part 1 and 2, but ive decided that im going to keep my weekends for myself, as I upload most week days, which does take up a lot of my time, as im sure you can Imagine!:) so i think its only fair i keep a couple of days to myself, where i can do the things i enjoy with the people i care about, so Part 3 should be uploaded probably tomorrow (Monday)!
Anyway for those of you who haven't played House of Ashes yet, come give it a watch and see what you think, as even if you watch it, you can still buy and play it yourself, as by making different decisions in the game, you will get a different outcome and story, so watching my version wont spoil the game for you too much.
As always if you do watch it and like my vids, I would appreciate it millions if you could like the vid and even subscribe to my channel, as with support things will only get better! 🙂

Wow, not one single nomination. We'll try again for December's MOTM.

I’m allergic to alcohol

My best friend has thought about joining for a while, but with as busy as her life is, she often forgets. She also has 3 kids to take care of, two of which are kindergarten age. So if she does have time she is often too worn out to get online. I’ve also told her bf about it, and he said he would check it out. Whether or not he has, I don’t know.

And it was great, actually. They created a fun, gothic story with some real, legitimate drama, superb acting from pretty much everyone and they really nailed the sardonic sense of humour perfectly. The really nailed the main character and brough her bang up to date by very cleverly leaving Wednesday herself stuck in the past. Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday exactly as we know and love her with her quite and sarcastic, yet slightly menacing and creepy demurer. The show also isn't afraid to get a little bit violent which I think works.
 
It also looks superb. the cinematography and visual style work well because the establish a great contrast to our main characters in a subtle, but very effective way. Tim Burton is known for his gothic and morbid visual style as well as aforementioned contrast that to something more bright and optimistic and his fingerprints are all over this. The music is interesting because, as far as I can tell, its made up almost entirely of classical instrumental covers of famous pop and rock sones. They managed to work in Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" into there as well, extra points for that. Regardless of the source for the music, it suits well with the intended tone. It does not, however, make up for the fact that delightful Adam's Family theme song is nowhere to be found here, which is a shame.
 
The story is intelligent without leaving the viewer behind. There is some pacing problem in that I think the first half of the series maybe a bit slow with the second half maybe a fast, but it draws you in and keeps you engaged. It's not "laugh out loud" hilarious, like I said its dry and sardonic and it's more content to "pick it's moments" rather that drown you in comedy. This was a smart move as the drama needs time in this to set and make it's impact, and it does with the comedy prompting nice breaks in between.
 
Issues? Well, not much but there was one thing that did bother me. This series is obviously set in another universe whare mythical creatures like Vampires, Werewolves and Sirens exist and are know in society as "outcasts". In fact, the series is set in a boarding school for outcasts. This bothered me because, to me, The Adams Family was always about an abnormal and morbid family interacting with a normal, innocent world. A strange family mixing in with a normal world, but the world here is itself strange. It's not like the series has a particularly imaginative or fresh take on these creatures, them and thier differences to normal people and how they interreact with this world is barley even focused on, so I really didn't see the purpose of this. This does work it's way in a big way into the story in ways I won't spoil, but that's an issue for me as well because it feels like thier changing The Adams Family to fit the plot rather than creating a plot to fit the characters.
 
Still, it's a great series that's well worth a watch and I would highly recommend it.

The future is no phone at all, the phones will be built into chips implanted in our bodies somewhere, which isn't too far fetched even at this point in time! They can already put a heads up display in contact lenses, so team that up with a chip implant that can make/take calls and messages etc etc and your nearly there already, so yeah its already been played with in many games and films, but in real life we are very close, if not able to make it a reality! 🙂

Dog years and cat years. This is a concept created for the truly stupid.
 
The year itself doesn't change just because it's from the prospect of a different animal. Time is a constant. Different organisms have written in thier DNA a great many things. How they grow, thier instincts, thier appearance, everything including thier lifespan. These genetic codes vary, so the lifespan varies as well. No two people are actually generically coded to live for the same amount of time, never two species. These dog and cat years are for people who understand the basics of life. Dogs and cat's don't live as long as people, it's that simple. Seriously, how stupid do have to be not get that 13 year old dog is quite old just a because a 13 year old human isn't considered old?
 
Still, if people insist they this metaphor to understand this incredibly simple premise, then I say why stop with just Dogs and Cats? How about Redwood year or Giant Tortoise year. Or on the other end of the scale, how an Apply year or a house fly year? Or maybe it would actually be easer to just understand that the human lifespan is a not fucking calendrer.
