StaceyPowers reacted to The Blackangel in Games that grew on you?
At the moment, only 2 come to mind. RDR2 and FF8. Initially I wasn't interested in FF8 because at the time I thought it was "too open" of a game for my tastes. Granted this was 1999, and games aren't anywhere near as advanced and open world as they are now. But back 21 years ago, this was one hell of an open world game.
RDR2 didn't initially interest me, because I've never really been a big fan of western style games. I'm not into western movies or TV shows. I watched Bonanza with my grandmother when I was a little girl, but that was only because she loved the show. I never complained though. I was just happy to spend time with her. but back to the game, I watched my girl play it a lot, and the more I watched her, the more I got into it. I eventually bought it for both My Xbox One and PS4. I have to say it's much better on the PS4 than Xbox.
I do have to say that GameStop lived up to its reputation. I bought it there for $60. We went to Walmart immediately after, and they were selling it for $40.😡

StaceyPowers reacted to Empire in Game that feel like “home”
Subnautica is much more survival and at first the world feels terrifying, but by the end you no longer fear the depths around you and when you complete the game it feels like you are leaving behind your home. You can go at your own pace and everything.
Slime rancher is a first person creature farming with a world to explore and fun slimes to capture. was in early access (I know bad sign) but the dev's constantly roll stuff out and the world feels big to explore and lots to do. I did try Slime Rancher once though. I liked it! Even though it was one of the very few games that gave me motion sickness. It was unfinished at the time and seemed more targeted at a children audience. I might check it out again, though. I did play through Subnautica, which was great fun! Unfortunately, it has an end and no multiplayer 🙂

In Fallout 4, I have a huge Settlement that I built in the middle of the ocean using mods and glitches. Honestly, i just walking around and interacting with my settlers and upgrading the settlement's defense systems.

I'm trying to get my hands on a 5000 series Ryzen CPU and 6800 XT GPU but I'll also have to wait until next year...

StaceyPowers reacted to killamch89 in Most Ironic Situations in A Video Game
I just commented on another thread that it's pretty ironic that Alduin, the main antagonist of Skyrim saves the only person who could stop him. Without Alduin's interference, your character would've been executed. What are some ironic situations you've seen in a video game?

StaceyPowers reacted to killamch89 in How long did it take you to download RDR II?
If I remember correctly, about 2-3 hours. I mean GTA V took me about 6 hours to download and the game was 60 GB (it's way larger now with the added DLCs since).

StaceyPowers reacted to skyfire in Unexpected Uses Of VR
There is a machine named "SatisfyerMen vibration" which pretty much automates the porn+masturbation with VR support. I think the way things are going VR lifestyle is coming out. Though this handles different niche.
I'd love the VR to solve different problem for me. I suffered from fast city life and got harassed with slow village life too. I wish VR can solve this problem for me by adjusting the environment which does not cause this constant switch issue for me. A lot of childhood and the adult life drama can be fixed by keeping people in alternative life which gives them safe space. On that part I am with VR.

Exactly. Start may not be in our hand, but end can be..

StaceyPowers reacted to killamch89 in Unexpected Uses Of VR
I was having a discussion with @StaceyPowers and @skyfire in another thread where Skyfire said that VR could be used to re-live past trauma but redo the outcome as a form of therapy and we thought it was a very interesting idea. I also remembered one of my friends talking about watching porn using VR a few years back. What other ways could VR be used?

And I'd add an overall lack of balance.

Gaming is a source of entertainment, ofcourse it’s good for your mental health. It’s a way to escape all real life worries for some. Ofcourse, if you’re addicted, it can be damaging to your mental health, but the same applies to an addiction to anything. The problem in that case is the addiction itself, not gaming.

Hey, don't disrespect teachers like that...I mean, when I needed help with my insomnia, I just had to listen to one of their lectures for a couple of minutes and I was in dreamland XD

StaceyPowers reacted to killamch89 in Play styles that are surprisingly effective?
Here's a video of how to find the Storm Call shout. If I remember correctly, it's somewhere near Riften and the Wall Of Flames is found in random loot.

Yeah, you can have an additional standing stone power saved to the helmet. In other words, when you take off the helmet and put it back on, you can basically use the Ritual Stone power more than once a day.

StaceyPowers reacted to The Blackangel in Do you feel guilty if you harm certain video game characters?
After the events of chapters 3/4 in RDR2, and what happens in Rhodes and St Denis, I feel a lot of guilt. Like I could and should have done something different. But those events are part of the story line and out of the gamers hands. So I don’t have any choice but to cry when they happen.

StaceyPowers reacted to The Blackangel in Does listening to someone else game keep you up at night or help you sleep?
I can’t say on gaming, but I have to have a dvd playing to get to sleep. I always play Family Guy, American Dad, or on occasion Futurama. I used to play South Park also, but I just can’t sleep to it.

I treat my OCD and insomnia by gaming. It has been more successful than anything else I've tried. A friend told me her therapist actually recommended gaming for OCD too, so this is a thing.

StaceyPowers reacted to killamch89 in Which is scariest?
Yeah, it was pretty rough. I totally understand what you're going through because those who've never experienced that kind of suffering or have to endure it for a prolonged period in their lives would think that you can "bear" the pain when there's no fix for it. The one positive from it is that it made me much tougher and stronger mentally.

StaceyPowers got a reaction from killamch89 in Fallout 4 - Worth Getting?
I actually think I'd like the settlement building, but then, I spend a lot of time messing with my houses in Skyrim.

StaceyPowers reacted to The Blackangel in Games that do ominous foreboding well
RDR2 does it a lot. I’m not going to give any specifics, because I don’t want to let loose any spoilers. But it’s common.

Oh weird, I was trying to quote @Reality vs Adventure .
