StaceyPowers Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 Which games have you played that you felt did a great job at creating an atmosphere of ominous foreboding? For me, Bioshock Infinite has done a remarkable job with its massive buildings and statues that loom over you and the uneasy ambient sounds in the environments.
The Blackangel Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 RDR2 does it a lot. I’m not going to give any specifics, because I don’t want to let loose any spoilers. But it’s common. StaceyPowers 1
killamch89 Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 Alien: Isolation. When you first make your way onto the ship, you'll quickly realize that something very sinister is lurking even before encountering a single Alien. What I also like about the game is how much it leaves you on the edge of your seat.
Reality vs Adventure Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 I thought Bioshock 1 was creepier then Infinite, so that environment for me told it well to watch my step. But Infinite sure did set it well too. Unique games. Horror games have to have that. Would be weird to be playing sims, then all of a sudden a demon rushes you.

I think most of the Bioshock games did an excellent job with it. I can't really think of any other game that got me like that except Nightmare Creatures, but that's a really old game and if I play it now it's more funny than creepy. To be honest I think minecraft does a good job with their music. I vividly remember the first night in the block world, I actually got chills. Sound does make a lot of the games stand out in that way. StaceyPowers 1
Withywarlock Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 The demos of Bioshock and F.E.A.R: First Encounter Assault Recon made me the most excited for a horror game I've ever been, and likely ever will be. Nothing has come close to the slow build of tension and spine-tingling fear than those two on the Xbox 360. That said, I'm currently enjoying Call of Cthulu (2018) and have to say I'm loving it! m76 Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Alien Isolation, the whole game is scary as hell, even when you are on calmer levels. System Shock 2. Everything about this game is foreboding, even the AI of the ship, especially after it gets corrupted and starts spreading the word of the many.
Heatman Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 It's definitely going to be Alien Isolation for me. There is no part of game that isn't creepy. Also Mass Effect 3 offers something similar as well.
