  1. Excluding obvious answers like The Guy Game, what game from the past that would never even be considered for release in today's world do you wish would get a remastered copy? Do you think that particular game could be edited down to be more tastefully crafted, or does it need to be respected as-is and left alone?
  2. Video games these days are like playing through a movie, with in-depth character building, amazing plot twists and relatable character backgrounds. We start to grow attached to certain characters, to be angry at others, and to feel as they feel while the game evolves. But what was the first moment that you played through a game and a moment just hit you? The first few minutes of The Last of Us? How about Mordin in Mass Effect 3? Maybe Atlas in Bioshock stirred it? Maybe SHODAN in System Shock? What was it that first reached into you and made you FEEL the game?
  3. Have you ever sat down to play a brand new release or brand new game to you and it triggered a nostalgic feeling that this game feels just like "X" game from the past? It could be something as simple as the way a car handles in a sandbox game, the weapon mechanics in an FPS, or even just a character's development and storyline. Have you managed to find that feeling? You start up a game and it feels like you've been playing it for years. It helps you develop a near instant connection with the game and makes it almost seem like an old friend. It's a fun feeling!
  4. I've bought Star Wars KotOR and KotOR 2 at least three times each, I own the original Fable (As Fable, Fable: The Lost Chapters and Fable Anniversary) on Xbox, Xbox 360 and Steam, and I can't count how many times I've picked up the various Sonic 1, 2, 3 games and Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3.
  5. I lost count a long time ago, I have 42 consoles and handhelds at this point, and multiple controllers for each console, so I've got at least 50, maybe 75 controllers? They're all stored with their respective system, but it's chaos at times finding what you need.
  6. The original Borderlands. I couldn't stand Clap Trap's personality at first, and the gameplay didn't feel that tight, but the more I played it the more I started to enjoy the game, and then Borderlands 2, and Tales from the Borderlands, and so on. Good series!
  7. I've done some basic game programming, I was a Java programmer by trade, so I dabbled a little bit in video game coding just to see if I had a feel for it. I found out I much prefer playing games to making them, lol.
  8. Never properly finished the GTA V single player campaign. Just didn't interest me enough to finish it. GTA Online very quickly took over and they kept it updated, so...I turned to that for a while until it got stale. It never quite resonated with me.
  9. As someone who WAS trying to complete my Saturn collection, but has had to stop because...I just can't afford it, yeah. I'm worried about the prices of games constantly rising. I am somewhat hopeful that the recent decline in the collector market popularity will indicate falling prices, at least somewhat, then I could snag some other games I'm looking for on other systems, but for the most part collecting as a whole is beyond me.
  10. I just want to see them keep physical media alive. I know that's asking far too much for today's generations, but the collector in me hates that we're going to lose physical games very soon. I know most of them are essentially just serving as keys to download the rest of the game, but there's something about owning a physical copy of a game that makes it feel more certain. I own this, it's mine, it's right here. Digital games can be gone in the blink of an eye. It's entirely improbable that physical media continues for another generation, but it's the one thing I hope for.
  11. Yeah, I can see the logic in shifting the IP elsewhere. The Arkham games are fantastic, but they've had their place and another one doesn't make sense. Now would be the right time for someone else to come in, do something different, put a new twist on things, and see where Batman can go. Rocksteady gets to work on new things, everyone wins!
  12. Totally agree, games these days are exactly like playing through a very long movie, as was said above, so it makes no sense to take the immersion out of the equation. It's like watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy from the start of The Fellowship and then Skipping to the last 40 minutes of Return of the King. You miss the whole point.
  13. That's the risk, definitely. There are going to be hunts where you find nothing or nothing of interest to you, and there are going to be hunts where you find a lot of "meh" titles, but that's what makes the hunts where you find the truly great stuff worthwhile. It's like anything in life, you've got your share of disappointments that aren't fun, but they make the great moments worthwhile!
  14. Kingdom Hearts II, apparently. I was never a big KH fan, so I don't know if it truly was the best game of 2005, but it got rave reviews, I do remember that.
  15. Such a shame, because it is a game well worth playing. Amazing storyline and the gameplay itself is fun. I'm glad I have it in my library and on physical media.
  16. I completely agree, I think live-only or live-centric games are good for certain things, but not every single game. Games need a lifespan beyond their servers, I still go back and play a lot of old games that don't have life services anymore, and they're still perfect, playable, fantastic games. No game should be limited to a lifespan just because the servers are switched off.
  17. I like the thrill of the hunt, personally. What can I find in the wild? I've found amazing deals that way, like a sealed copy of Comix Zone for $7! I have bought online, and I have no issues with purchasing online, but I still enjoy the thrill of the hunt, too :)
  18. I always play for the story, even games I've played multiple times through, the story is a big part of the experience, so I never skip :)
  19. The PSP enjoyed some success, the Vita enjoyed a little bit, as well, but do you think there is still room on the Sony lineup for a handheld gaming system? If so, what would be your ideal setup? Honestly, the one thing I would like to see released is a bit of a handheld that gives you access to all of the back catalogs from the PS1, PS2, PSP and PS Vita range, with the ability to purchase PS3 games hopefully included later. I feel that would touch on peoples' nostalgia need, but also offer a new way to play those games, or at least those that haven't already been ported over. Would there be room for new releases exclusive to the handheld? Of course, but the main focus would be the backlogs. Imagine paying a minimal fee for the console plus a monthly fee for the backlogs, WHILE also being able to purchase the games outright so that, inevitably, when the console is no longer supported, gamers still have access to the games they want. That's just a thought rampaging through my brain, I think it would be a neat idea to see come to fruition, though I find it highly unlikely it ever will.
  20. Anyone else looking forward to this coming out? A chance to replay KotOR, KotOR II and the Force Unleashed again? It's a good collection of games in one pack, well worth it for any Star Wars fan, I'm really looking forward to it hitting on December 8th!
  21. The Deluxe version of void* tRrLM2(); //Void Terrarium 2: Deluxe Edition is currently available on Woot.com for a price of $34.99, not bad at all for the deluxe version of a fun game! 30% off retail! https://electronics.woot.com/offers/nis-america-void-trrlm2
  22. I am fan of racing games and driving games, I used to absolutely love games like Outrun or Cruisin' USA, they were so much fun to play! Then you look at the modern systems and see games like Forza, and those are fun for a whole different reason. Sometimes you want to have a blast in a sporty car, sometimes you want to do objective-based gaming in a car. It's all fun and all good!
  23. I think if anything overpowers traditional television it's streaming services. Comparing gaming to television or streaming is apples and oranges. You can relax doing both, but you tend to get different senses of enjoyment from one or the other. Each is equally powerful in the mind as the other.
  24. Practice on the highest difficulties. If you go straight for the hardest mode and slog your way through, you can drop down a level and dominate, perfecting your skills and being ready again for the challenge of the highest level. It really helps build up your skillset and learn the controls of a game to a level of mastery needed to be proficient.
  25. If you play a variety of games repeatedly, yes, definitely, but if you play one game over and over, no, IMO because it becomes mindless in nature. The potential is absolutely there, though! Like all things, practice makes perfect.
