Yep, I absolutely understand where you're coming from!  Trying to stop buying to play catch up, only for another one to roll down the pipelines and...well...you've got to grab it!  That's how my backlog got so out of whack in the first place, and it just hasn't stopped :D.  Hopefully one day I'll get a bit of free time to sit down and get through a few of those games, have a bit of fun with them!

Correct, games we own and have not had the chance to get into, for one reason or another.  It happens over time, usually, but sneaks up on a lot of us until it becomes a bit overwhelming!
That is a very sizeable backlog, indeed!  It doesn't take much to become overwhelming! :)

Yeah, his collection is absolutely insane.  So many games for so many systems, and those arcade machines!  What a place!

Seriously, it's the first point of assessment that most new gamers use to find their way around and progress in the game.

Wow, that's an incredible stack of games and I really love how he stocked them all to make it easy for choosing.

PGen98 got a reaction from Withywarlock in Which Movie Video Game Was The Worst?
Movies love to cross-promote as much as possible, to sell as much merchandise as possible, and that usually means there's a video game tie in or even a complete video game associated with a movie.  To those that have played them, which video game based on movie has been the worst you've experienced?
For me it has to have been Enter The Matrix on the Original Xbox (and PS2).  It was a horrible game to play, but I'll give them credit for working in the various Matrix effects and atmospheric elements which did make it feel like an extension of the Matrix universe.  Did anyone else play a terrible movie tie-in game?  What was the worst you've ever played?

PGen98 got a reaction from Withywarlock in Do you prefer a game to be historically accurate?
No, I don't mind liberties being taken in games.  Bioshock, Wolfenstein, Fallout, Civilization etc. are all great games to play, but they're nowhere near historically accurate.  It's nice when they are historically accurate, but it's not necessary to enjoy the game.

Agreed, it would be foolish not to include a tutorial in a game, it's essential for newer players to learn how to actually play a game.

Nice, you must have a decent collection going. Do you ever have plans to put them on a shelf? Or are you going to keep them in bins for easier access?
I kinda dream of having a game room where I can put up tons of shelves with all the games I have. I just like the idea of seeing all of my games lined up. Plus I also want to put gaming memorabilia around the collection as well. But yeah, I get that. Sometimes it's not easy to display everything, especially if you may have a smaller room or house and can't accomodate a ton of games in one area.

It's becoming unacceptable. Too many studios are doing it, and idk how they feel they can get away with it. I think what they do, is hope the backlash dies down, and they'll just slowly make the game better. Hell, Cyberpunk 2077 still hasn't come out with an official new gen version of the game, and that game dropped a year ago now.
And I hope they take another delay if needed. I think they should allow their studios to make the games they want in the time they feel they can.
As long as they give the game time to grow, things should go fine. Unless the game turns out to be mediocre or boring. Studios should take their time, make the game how they want to make it. If it takes a while, so be it.
I think studios should be given later due dates, just so that they have the time needed.

Honestly I am okay with this. I think it's better to delay a game, than release it at a time where it's just not ready. I wish more game companies actually allowed more delays. Yeah they suck to happen, and it brings everyone down, but I would rather have a bunch of delays than have another Cyberpunk 2077 or GTA Remastered Trilogy on our hands.
    Delays are okay.

I cross my fingers too, hoping that the video game is released universally and openly and not being released secretly through the hands of scalpers.

I can understand that, the NPC quests can be a bit silly at times!  I don't want to do hand-holding quests or tracking down toys, either.  Idiotic.
I believe those that "become" introverts are actually ambiverts already, they have introverted tendencies and extrovert tendencies, and when they find an introverted activity that captivates them, the introvert tendencies kick in.

I play snowboarding games. I’ve mentioned several times that I was a pro-am snowboarder when I was a teenager. I wanted to try to go pro, but the opportunity never came. Besides, I couldn’t afford the trip to any pro runs.

I believe the appeal for sports games is that they are kind of a role playing game, where you play as a sportsperson or a whole team and face off against others with the same rules. It's like playing sports irl. I find myself playing F1 and setting times on tracks where the race is about to happen the coming weekend. Doing this makes me feel more engaged in the actual race itself, as I know all the turns and straights from experience.

Exactly, it's like in real life when you're down and worn out, you need to add something on yourself - be it food or water or drinks. No one hungry gets filled without eating something.

It's one of the biggest mistakes some of these games companies make by pushing everything as a must without making it optional and we all really hate that.

Very true, don't need to force tutorials on those that don't want them, but also handy to have for those that do.  Plenty of room for that middle ground option where needed.

I have to agree with some of the sentiments above, it really depends on the game itself.  Some games need them, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I prefer it. If I can stop and rest, or if it just refills on its own, that makes newer games more enjoyable. Older games though, I prefer them to not regenerate. I want to have to find hearts, or faeries, or food, or whatever the hell the game uses to replenish your health or magic or whatever your needing to refill.

That's have been the way most games that I have been playing works with my characters health regain. It's more of a norm now with games.

Seriously, no one likes anything forced in the video game that they play, so the same thing is applicable to the game's tutorials.

I think optional tutorials are a fantastic idea, maybe even necessary.
Everyone learns in different ways. Many of us do it through pure experimentation, but some prefer to be told how everything works in advance. Regardless of which side you're on personally, it's unfair to act like the other end of the spectrum doesn't exist.

I'm fine with wired or wireless controllers, since I'm a retro gamer, so I can take either wired or wireless and not feel odd about it.
