  1. Doesn't seem like we have had a topic about this yet.

Right, toy to life games, did you ever buy any of them, did you enjoy them or did you ignore it all together and diden't care at all.

And offcourse the most important question do you still own any and would you like them to make a comeback. Let's kick things with what came to my mind first when i tought about this subject.

Do you remember Skylanders and all it's sequels, disney infinty, hell probably the most suitable brand for this type of games namely lego jumped ship with lego dimensions and offcourse how can anyone forget the amiibo craze, pretty much 15$ figurines with nintendo characters that did the bare minimum.

A little over 10 years ago up until let's say 2016-17 these things were everywhere, in skylanders case they are still everywhere only now dumped in a forgotten corner of the house, laying to rot in the attic or being sold at a flea market for a few euros a piece (in skylanders case).

What happened? Pretty simple answers oversaturation and in skylanders case games that declined in quality over time. I doubt anybody is really waiting for a toy to life comeback so nah i don't really want it to make a comeback unless they come up with an adult version of the concept like a open world rpg or something along those lines.

Obviously by the time these games come out i was already well in my 20 ies so i never really cared about the whole concept too much as it was just another may i add brilliant way of getting more money out of mostly parents their pockets, i do own a few sets myself but those are mostly for collectors purposes.

Pretty sure folks who are younger then me can chip in with a better view like do you have found memories or any nostalgia for these games?

sorry. i guess since i don't know where to post stuff properly then maybe i should just not be on here.

Nah please don't as you seem like somebody who has something interesting to tell and you know we all make mistakes and if they were as little as yours, earth would be heaven right now. I moved your post about unpacking to the last game played thread btw, where it's better suited then here.

i'm not sure what "franchise" but i wish they would come out with something besides car/racing/driving games and horror games. i'd like to see more games that aren't competitive that would give some of us a more creative outlet. stuff that's a little more soothing to play. i like to have a rip roarin time in some games but there's days i want something calming. everything now is mostly shooters, cars, horror and sports. plus there's a larger market of older gamers than there used to be. maybe they could cater to that some. oh and i forgot about the farming. sick to death of the farm games.

I get your point and you know this would be an interesting topic to discuss if you feel like making a thread about relaxing games and what you are looking for, i'm sure myself and fellow posters could come up with a dozen orso games that would fit your discription, maybe learn about a game we've never heard ourselves of in the process.

I would have loved for us to keep on with our engagement on MFS and the aircrafts but before we'd get called to get back on topic by any of the mods or, let me wake up before that happens.

Create a new topic or give me a decent title for said topic and i'll create it myself, that way i can move the entire microsoft flight simulation discussion over there and you can continue your talk about airplanes in a dedicated topic and this thread is clean and on topic again that's two birds in one stone.

  4. A no brainer would be Ryu Ga Gotoku studio (the guys behind the yakuza series) taking on the shenmue ip. While the man himself Yu suzuki commands nothing but respect he and his small team can't do the shenmue franchise justice anymore and maybe it's time for him keep his legacy intact, retire and enjoy his old day. The guys from Ryu Ga Gotoku studio mastered the while small, compared to other open world games. The open world formula with creating a world full of interesting content and things to do.

Arc system works, these guys pretty much mastered the 2d fighting genre why not let them do something with the tekken or street fighter ip. Pretty sure it would come close to the best 2d fighter ever made.

Warhorse studios (the studio behind the underrated Kingdom come deliverance) have proven they can create an interesting open world, write an interesting stories and side quests that are actually fun to play, put them on the elder scrolls ip and given enough time and budget you could do a lot worse then them. Maybe a more realistic scenario for the elder scrolls ip would be Obsidian.

Since we're making shit up why not have Playground games have a crack at a new Project Gotham Racing game or a sequel to the still exellent og xbox exclusives duo of rallisport challenge games.

  5. How about Endling - Extinction is Forever which came out yesterday, where you play as the last mother fox on earth and where you have to take care of your newly born whelps. I've preordered a physical copy of the game which is due to arrive tommorow, i meanly did it because i want to support smaller physical releases on the xbox platform :

here is a full desciption of the game that i just copy and pasted mind you :

experience a world ravaged by mankind through the eyes of the last fox on Earth in this eco-conscious adventure.

Discover the destructive force of the human race, as it corrupts, pollutes, and exploits the most precious and valuable resources of the natural environment day by day.

Explore various 3D side-scrolling areas and defend your tiny furballs, feed them, watch them grow up, notice their unique personalities and fears, and most importantly, help them to survive.

Use the cover of night to stealthily guide your litter towards a safer place. Spend the day resting in an improvised shelter and plan your next move carefully since it could be the last for you and your cubs.

and offcourse said launch trailer below :

it's been getting good reviews so i'm kinda curious about it.

  6. Yesterday i finally started to play Dragon quest 11, i played up towards where you get thrown in jail. Already fell into an old bad habit where i started grinding in the first area lol. Since today is a holiday here i should have a couple of more hours to devote to the game.

I'm always scared to start these type of long games because at some point you'll get hooked and think of nothing else then the game. looks like social life is going to be put on hold for a while.

  7. Unless somebody has something important to add please by all means feel free to do so, otherwise don't waste any more time and energy on this clusterfuck of a thread and let it fall down where it belongs,  because it's still to me unclear what this thread is about and i'm probably not the only one.

Clearly the orginal poster just came here to start annoying people to the border line where they are trolling the forum. Despite our best efforts to engage in a meaningfull discussion all they did was ignoring that and just continued their posting rampage.

  8. Let's go against the grain and say yes? Perfect example Chelsea before Abramovich toke over, Chelsea was nothing more then a stable middle table club who won a few trophies here and there. After he toke over and during his ownership Chelsea pretty much won everithing there is to win, so yes money can buy you a quality team that can win you everything.

Same with Manchester city before Sheikh Mansour toke over, they were just a middle table team that sometimes had to fight for survival in the premier league, now they are aguably the best team and have the best coach in the world. The only thing they haven't won is the champions league but you don't need to be an expert to know it's going to come sooner or later. So again yes money can buy you a quality team that is capable of winning everything.

Let's talk about the latest club in line as I'd be interesting to see what newcastle are going to do during the remaining of the transfer window because you know the new owners are going to want make a blockbuster signing to make a statement of theire ambitions (rumours are saying neymar).

  9. As a videogame collector I'm not a fan of those digital subscription services, because imo gamepass and what have you is just a glorified rental service where they add games and delete games as they please. I'm not going to slam any of these services as clearly i'm in the minority who thinks this way and if it works why not aslong doesen't come at the cost of a physical copy being avaible i don't mind it too much.

Also gaming is not that much more expensive then in ps2/xbox/gamecube days, new releases also came at a 60$ costs. Wheter or not you were getting more bang for your buck then vs now i'll leave that in between, because oppinions on this are all over the place here. Games go on sale all the time and you can get really good bargains if you don't mind waiting half a year till a year after it's release especially during black friday and the holiday period you can probably buy an entire years worth of games for next to nothing. But obviously i'm getting off topic.

A lot of people should take note of what they are subscribed to and how much they spend monthly on subscriptions itself because you'd be surprised how much it adds all up on a monthly basis. 10 bucks here, 15 buck there easy enough but do you need all those subscriptions. Like i've seen people complain about subscriptions and how expensive it gets but do you really need xbox live and ps plus for both consoles, same with amazon prime and netflix, do you really need them both there are only 24 hours in day you can't possible watch everithing. How about that expensive Gym subscription you never use.

I think this is a major problem with the current state of entertaiment, everithing is more and more subscription based and the urgency for some people that they want to have a subscription to everithing that interests them, offcourse it's going to be expensive month after month. A lot of people would be saving a lot of money each month if they start calculating what they pay for subscription every month and maybe toss everithing out that they don't get their value out off.

To put it short as i can't phrase it better then @Withywarlock you can make gaming as expensive or cheap as possible as you want. If you ask my oppinion on the whole matter go physical and just get the games you're really interested or hunt down bargains here and there, also if you don't mind used games you can also save a lot of money.

Not really sure this is the answer you are looking for, but i feel like i tried my best.

  10. If you can’t complete a game because of a bug, what is your next move? my 5 steps in case the bugs don't fix itself

-> reload earlier safe if i have one

-> turn off console on and off, maybe do hard reset.

-> Start cursing and summing everithing up that is wrong with modern gaming

-> Look solution up on the internet

-> Realise i'm fucked and probably should do something else to cool off

  11. When i first came here it was to talk about videogames, one thing that was immediately clear to me this is the messageboard i have been looking for years, fellow posters welcomed me when i first joined up like i have been here for years. Everybody is so open and genuine   there is no hate and jealousy towards eachother wheter or not somebody has a different oppinion it doesen't end up in a flame war. I may consider myself more video game collector then gamer these days but being part of vgr has worked miracles like getting stoked again on current gen gaming and actually being encouraged to play games that are way out of my zone.

I also want to thank @DC, @Shagger and @The Blackangel for their faith and trusting me with this task, i'll try my utmost best to be the best mod i possible can, so if there is ever anything you possibly think i could help out with wheter it's board related or not, do not hestitate to send me a pm.

Also thanks to all of you guys the entire community for being the way you are, we may not always agree with eachother but let's keep doing what we do best and make vgr the best place it possible can be.

Damn i almost sound like a politician.

If you watched him playing for inter last two seasons you'll love this game, he scored over 30 goals there in a full calendar year. What happened last season at Chelsea? He saw his worst scoring form in which he saw during his second stint at the club too. Lukaku has seen over third stints at Chelsea, yet he never proved himself. Maybe the fourth or fifth will be enough to prove himself. Chelsea is just waiting for his release clause to go a little bit higher than it was when they bought him, so they can acquire his services again to correct his past mistakes.

Lukaku never got a fair chance at chelsea in his first spell at chelsea and expectations were way too high when he came back also at man utd he was also under appreciated like who in the right mind is going to pick rashford over lukaku oh wait solskjar did and he has as much knowledge of football then my parents which is exactly none. Yeah i wouldn't be surprised Lukaku bangs in 30+ goals for inter milan next season, dude is out for bloodlust and will want to prove tuchel wrong they dumped him again.

i never understood why you would want to play for chelsea anyway yeah sure money makes up a lot but especially as a youngster why would you want to sign for chelsea since the chances you're going to make it to the first team are next to none, if you've got a long contract be prepared to live inside a suitcase because it's going to loan after loan.

Needless to say they dumped players like De bryne, salah and nathan aké who never even got a fair chance at chelsea maybe it was mourinho his fault but come on at a normal run club that would have never happened. Hell they even dumped Declan Rice when he was 14 years old.

I don't usually buy until it's lowered down in price. I get why they charge full price for some of these remasters. With the last of us part one, they remade the character models and did some other work. Just wait to buy it when it goes on sale.

Yeah but the last of us is a game that's 9 years old and already had a remaster on ps4 a year later, you would guess they priced yet another updated version around 35-40 mark instead of charging full price for it and let's face it this remaster or updated version is likely not worth charging full price for that probably had the bare minimum done to upgrade the game for pc. But you know sony must have thought if nintendo gets away with it, why wouldn't we, right.

Like you said just hold off on it as i can see this going for around 20-25 by Christmas.

Ghost of tsushima isn't really a long game compared to others I have played as well and it's only about 25 hours long.

I actually said I haven't completed it yet and that's because I only started playing it a few months ago and barely plays it often.

If you devote your time to it you could complete it in some days or at most a week.

Have you completed Ghost of Tsushima and GTA V? I've never seen or heard anyone completing Ghost of Tsushima, you're the first to claim it, that's great if you've completed the game.

I've completed Ghost of tsushima a couple of years ago, unless you are skipping a lot of side missions (why would you do that because they are great) it toke me around 35 hours to get the platinum trophy!

Woulden't know about Gta v it's story i completed the story mode a third time( the ps5/series x version) this time, probably more around 60 hours and i've yet to buy any businesses and do the assinations to manipulate the stock market and i've never been able to buy the golf club in my 2 previous playtrough so this is still on my to do list. Gta v is one those rare games that they could give you extra story missions that would last another 60 hours and it still woulden't get boring.

  15. I always enjoy this part of the year, transfer rumours, clubs spending money like there is no tommorow to upgrade their squad. So why not open a thread for this transfer window, what are some done transfer you are exited about and what are some interesting ones, which ones are bound to flop.

This year it's unusual how many players left on a free transfer, let's see the most interesting ones

Axel Witsel -> From Dortmund one a free to Atletico Madrid (my favourite team in spain)

Divock Origi -> Ac Milan on a free transfer from Liverpool

Paul Pogba -> Back to juventus

i know @Justin11 and @Heatman love to talk about football, so i'll start chiping in more often from now in the sports section on the board.

  16. Yeah i tend to level up speech pretty early on in any game if it's an option, usually it gives me more satisaction that i can talk my way out of things rather then having to kill or fight as it's usually the most peacefull option. Obviously it's not saying much since you're usually killing about half the population of your average village in an rpg.

I'll admit that i rarely play games on hard anymore these days, so combat skills won't matter as much anymore if it's getting too hard on normal i'm even include to change it to easy.

  17. When you think about it, nearly every open world game seems to have fishing of some sorts in them these days wheter it's Ac valhalla, Red dead redemption 2, Yakuza 6, Final Fantasy 15, terraria, hell even the legend of zelda games have fishing in them, even pure Jprgs like the y's series and tale series have fishing in them.

Offcourse then we haven't talked about life simulation games where it has become mandatory to have fishing in them. Needless to say there are a whole slew of games that focus pure on fishing alone that it drives me nuts that fishing is pretty much everywhere.

My question is Why do so many games have fishing mechanics in them? And do you enjoy it in a game that isen't just about fishing alone?

Wasn't sure wheter or not to answer it myself  but i feel like Devs include fishing mechanics to slown down the pace a bit in an open world game. Obviously to middling success most of the times.

I don't enjoy them all the time like in certain games it feels forced and not needed at all but overall it's a good way to make some money early in the game eventough in most games it's just pressing some buttons and voila you catched something, where realism is far away.

  18. That's a good questions sometimes if the game in question is that good and you are enjoying yourself it doesen't feel like you just spend 100+ hours on a game.

Life simulation which have become one of my favourite genres over the years games like stardew valley, my time in portia and story of seasons, just to name a few i can easily put over 100 hours in and not get bored or feel guilty about, not only because they are relaxing games in there own way but because you are always working towards a certain goalwheter it's getting married or boosting friendships, upgrading your house or barn, doing quests for npc's or just goofing around, just when you are about to get bored usually something new happens in these games that keep you playing for another 20 hours.

Ubisoft on the other hand their games don't respect the players their time and this is where the biggest problem lies for me where a normal person just ignores certain quests/collectibles and moves on. For me no matter how boring it becomes at one point, i just want to clear out the entire map. Don't know what it is, it gives me some sick sense of satisfaction when the entire map is cleard of collectibles/ side quests and there is nothing left to do anymore. Afterwards i dread myself for wasting 50 hours of my life but i keep falling into that same trap over and over.

I think the above mentioned Greedfall by @Withywarlock while i agree with most what he said it's the best game by spiders and i feel like give that studio a decent budget and they could probably come close to triple a rpg territority. It is a perfect example of a game stretching it for too long because a lot of quests have you just running around go to this person, then go to that person, why don't you ask the natives who in turn aren't willing to help unless you do this. Kill the same enemies you've killed a 100 times already along the way and it's just keeps going you also have to go trough the same locations a couple of times which diden't really help either, i think i spent close to 70 hours but the last 20 hours i had to force myself to keep continue playing the game. The games lore and characters are exellent and that is what kept me playing but after hearing the same phrases like a bit of poison on my blade or things are about to get dicy it started to get old.

  19. Not as much as i like to anymore, the same counts for anything retro, i'd like to start playing more retro again but there is only so much time in the day that i usually tend to grab more towards a modern game when i've got some spare time to game.

Many older sports games are still plenty of fun to play especially the ones on the neo geo like big tournament golf, Windjammers and baseball stars are still worth playing today, they are also tough to master so you'll be up for quite a challenge.

Nhl 94 is the best ice hockey game ever especially together with a friend, Many older tiger woods games are much better then the recent released crap. The gamecube had a few exclusive sports games like beach spikers, virtua striker and offcourse the mario games i used to pop in every once in a while. Offcourse there are also the whole Street series from ea big, that have held up quite well and are great for short burst of gameplay if you don't have much time.

Fifa 13 i boot up every once in a while, not to play the game but to listen to the exellent soundtrack while doing something else.

  20. I'd say lego games are pretty fun to play together with a kid but i doubt a 12 year old wants to be called a kid anymore and at that age they may have outgrown lego games in general.

You can always try out pretty much any beat em up something like streets of rage 4 or the last month released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, haven't played that myself yet as i'm holding off on the physical release but i heard it's pretty good and can't think of a soul who doesen't like the Tmnt.

Terraria is supposed to be good into multiplayer aswell.

    and it is stagnant.

I don't really know what to make of this since it's quite the mess of a post but i can agree to some extent, will probably have to quote it in a few parts because your post seems to be all over the place but it's an interesting one nonetheless.

Videogames today don't meet the standards and expectations of 1999.

Maybe from nostalgia speaking they were, but that is just nostalgia for you while i have no problem playing a game from 1999 and get enjoyment out of it, the games i played when i was much younger when they were around still get my preferation then playing something new from that time period. Imo games from that time period haven't particularly aged well.

Also  when you have not much to play and you're dependable on what your parents buy you as far as games go, as a kid even a bad game you'll try and get the maximum out of it. Needless to say and i'll speak for myself i had plenty of time to play games in 1999.  Which i can only conclude with saying my own standard for games in 2022 is much higher then in 1999.

Eventough  a lot of gaming practices are shit shows only the minority seems to give a fuck i personally diden't myself either because i don't play multiplayer games well until some people here opened my ass what a cesspool it all is and you know what the biggest problem is that Parents don't seem to care when their kids buy skins on fortnite or spend it on purely cosmetic items. just imagine how Good Halo Infinite could have been if no one bought Battlepasses.

they haven't even finished the menus. Your campaign completion, which is 1 of 2 unique parts of your 5 point PROFILE, doesn't even register.

From what i have played of Halo infinite's campaign so far it's best Halo campaign in years. I'm not trough the whole game yet but it's on my to do list and from what i have played so far it's actually good sure the story may end up being a dissapointment but we'll see. Can't comment on multiplayer so i've got no idea how that is  but for the 22 bucks i paid for halo infinite to just play the campaign i'd say money well spent.

  22. Maybe i'm missing the point but i can't really think off that many games that diden't have an ending of some sorts wheter or not the ending is satisfying i'll leave in between but a game where the ending is paid dlc nah that would be a huge middle finger to fans and gamers in general. The only game i can really think off that did this with paid Dlc was Asura's Wrath where you had to pay to unlock the true ending and capcom got a lot of backlash for it, remember that time capcom completly lost it in the early 2010's, this is was one of their many "brilliant" anti consumer ideas.

Another one that isen't as drastic is the Fate of atlantis Dlc of assins creed odyssey where if you diden't play it missed out on a lot of the modern day story and never get to know what happened in the ancient city. Offcourse wheter or not you're missing out much is up for debate since modern day ac is usually the least interesting part of ac games.

Love Tore Trilogy - Sweet, Bitter and Mint ( Xbox 360 )

Kind of wanted to add a little something different to this thread by bringing up a series probably nobody has heard of yet. I've always wanted to talk about the Love tore games one way or the other so what better way then to do it now right? Because boy these are one the strangest games i've experienced in quite a while.

The kinect to me has always been a interesting device, offcourse it has it's problems like anything else and it lacked a major system seller, however games like Fable the journey and gunslinger just to name two games are worth playing. That being said these days the kinect is a great divice to introduce little children to gaming since offcourse you don't need a controller and a lot of games are kid friendly, just to make sure nothing breakable is into the immediate vicinity because it's bound to break.

This leads us to the Love Tore trilogy, i'm just covering the entire trilogy because they are pretty much the same games just with different girls. Offcourse in Japan they tought about using the kinect in a slightly different way i don't know what stuff the devs were on or who's idea it was but hey how about we make a fitness, dance, visual novel, dating simulator all in one.

It's your standard affair at first you gotta help the girls with their training for an upcoming dance event. For the kinect the exercises are pretty good and the sensor reads it quite well and offcourse since i'm a lazy bum when it games to playing games like why would i exercise while gaming, i failed quite a bit, resulting i me failing a lot of time which in turn making the girls very angry and boy they can get angry. I gave up on the series for a while because clearly it was nothing for me since i'm about as athlectic as somebody who goes to mcdonalds twice a day , until i had the smart idea why not have my girlfriend her 8 year old son try it out in my place and i can just watch along.

This was however not my smartest idea, he seemed to enjoy himself tough. But damn the game get's really creepy and pervy after a while, luckly for me the game is all in japanese so he coulden't really read what was going, Offcourse in typical japanese tradition the better you do you unlock more skimpy outfits and the perv factor gets cracked up a notch once the girls starting to like you, like you can start perving by moving your body here and there and at some point your can start "petting" the girls by waving your hand, taking in account some are underage . Whoever tought this up man you should seek help man.

Yeah these games are so good i had to get em twice, These collectors editions come with a sountrack and towel probably to wipe off your sweat (or shoot your load in ).

I've always wondered why they didn't bring these games over to the west, now i can safely say why because it's the strangest shit you'll find on kinect (maybe 360 in general ) and that on platform that already has some strange shit in itself. Star wars kinect anyone?
