  1. I would easily spend less than 10 hours a month gaming. 🙂 I mean, I work a more than full-time job. I have three kids. There's other things for me. But I still play.
  2. I don't own a game that's less than 20 years old at this point. So I'd say I'm not necessarily patient, I'm just not in on the new stuff as yet.
  3. I would say Banjo-Kazooie which I got in late 1998. Initial release date: 31 December 1996 Might as well be. Such a good game though, I miss it bad.
  4. I think you misunderstood me. I was referring to human cost to the target, not the financial cost to the advertiser. I think many content providers (mostly video) would dispute the 'you pay for what you get' when Facebook was found to be counting 2 seconds of play time while someone was scrolling through their feed as a view and then going back to the creators remarking how fantastic their video is doing. But, okay.
  5. Well. Welcome to you, and thank you for the welcome. It's great to meet another migrant from the same cyber-village. 😛

    Age

    29. But when I asked someone to guess my age when I was 21, they guessed 27-29. I've always looked much older (but not in a bad way at all). These days most people guess I'm about 34-36.
  7. But, at what cost? Lies...Reports of abusing their users... I can see as an advertiser how it can benefit. I just can't comprehend how people as users can knowingly be just okay with it.
  8. I played for like a week when it came out. I was on leave from work, so whatever. I had time. But then I went back to work and deleted it before long. I thought it was done, I freaked out pretty hardcore when I saw an acquaintance playing last year. I honestly thought it had just gone away. It was fun while it lasted I guess.
  9. The ability to be sucked into the console and live there - but it also needs to play BlueRays...Because, no one will have a BlueRay player in 2022. But in all honesty, they'll probably have a go at some kind of augmented reality maybe?
  10. I'm pretty sure Zelda is a staple. Just imagine the backlash if they tried to do this without Zelda. Good list! You named some I had forgotten about that I would add to mine. (Donkey Kong 64 and Yoshi's Story mainly.) Is it weird that I had never heard of Conker's Bad Fur day until, like, a couple of months ago. I'm astounded by how expensive used cartridges of that game are...Must have been pretty good. Also why Mario Party 2 and 3, but not the original? I don't even know anything about 3...I never got it, because the consensus in my childhood household (which I was on board with) was that 2 was trash.
  11. Thank you Scotty. Been here a few days by now and so far so good.
  12. Oh, yes! Positivity is the best way to deal with anything as deplorable as this - and it's great to hear more about your human experience. 🙂 I do worry for my kid's futures. Now and then I'm optimistic that, surely as time goes on things will get better. But you're right, it ebbs and flows. Sadly I feel like a rise in far/alt-right politics in the mainstream has really given the knuckle-dragging bigots the confidence they didn't have before to come out in droves. 😞
  13. Mind controls should never be a thing. Imagine the data mining that would come with companies having even basic access to our minds. No thank you. Let's just hope medicine just advances to the point Carpal Tunnel (among other things) is about as bad as a headache that lasts an hour or so. I have not got carpel tunnel, and probably don't game enough for it to even happen...Typing however.
  14. Fair enough. Link? Sounds so interesting! 🙂 I guess. Maybe. But it's not like this is the same thing as say, spoilers for a TV show. Surely people seeking out these leaks are relatively likely to buy the console regardless of what's leaked, and don't have the resources to bootleg one up for themselves or anything... I get that the delay might be a fact, I'm struggling with the why a bit though.
  15. It's a lot of effort for a kind of low return for a forum this size. Not to mention the expense. I'd wait until the place is a lot bigger. I mean, it may attract users but if it didn't you wasted a lot of resources making an app for under 1,000, possibly under 100 people to use.
  16. What do you have!? I didn't have any for the longest time but I semi-recently got back onto Instagram, which has been okay. I still don't get the appeal of social media or why so many people seem to deem it 'necessary' to have to be a functioning member of society. I also don't like how most, if not all, social media companies handle abuse user data, but that's for another day I guess.
  17. Okay, let's imagine a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card was a thing in real life? What would you use yours for? This is a tough one for me. But honestly, I think I'd have to print my own money to buy a house of something. 🤣
  18. Okay, so I'm a huge Survivor fan and I'm kind of hoping we have others among us to discuss this with - as I'll discuss it any time. I've even applied for the Australian version of the show, every season. Who is loving the season so far (four episodes in)? I think this is the best season we've seen of the US version in a good 2-3 years at least. [If this thread goes any further, let's also make sure we use spoiler tags.]
  19. Maybe they should invent a continent like they did a state for San Andreas. That way it's not playing on real things so much, and being in the realm of fiction they can get away with a lot more than they otherwise would.
  20. I know, the wit in the humour has me laughing every time. The choose your own adventure style of gameplay (though you have to follow the preset trajectory in a manner of speaking.) Guys. If you haven't played this game, get onto GOG and buy it now.
  21. My immediate family is a family of six, my wife is from an immediate family of 10. Together we have a family of five. So, not too big in some ways - huge in others. 😛
  22. Gaming or sporting? 😛 Or both. 🙂 Anyway, as a Muslim in an inter-racial marriage, with three bi-racial children I feel it's an important topic to cover. 🙂 As tough as it is, bigotry fact of life. It doesn't have to be, it shouldn't be. But it is. So, best we get honest and talk about it. Confront it. 🙂
  23. It's my favorite, hands down, since childhood! I love it so much and it will never get old! 10/10 is frankly too low a score.
  24. Okay, so I'm starting a thread where I can post articles about the horrible racism, xenophobia and bigotry that exists in our community and we can have a frank discussion about it. Any nationalists, supremacists, bigots on the forum (which, I doubt there are - and hope there is none) this is a zone where you too can express what a crappy human you are so we all know. 🙂 Starting with, Soccer while Black. Lately there has been a bit of a trend of these news stories. People calling the police on Black people simply for seemingly doing nothing wrong. At all. Like, the guy in this article was simply being a good Dad, and that's it. This woman should be ashamed, and hopefully she can reform as a human.. ‘Golfcart Gail’ calls cops on dad at his kid’s soccer game A WHITE woman called the cops on a black father at his child’s soccer game — claiming he yelled at the referee, when he was actually just cheering on his son, according to local reports. Two other women who were at the teen match in Ponte Vedra, Florida, over the weekend took videos and posted about the incident on Facebook — uploading images of the field marshal who called the police, showing her sitting in a blue golfcart with a phone to her ear and nicknaming her “Golfcart Gail.” “A parent at my son’s soccer game had the police called on him for cheering for his son during the game,” posted Ginger Galore Williams, with the header “Soccer While Black.” Source: https://www.news.com.au/sport/sports-life/golfcart-gail-calls-cops-on-dad-at-his-kids-soccer-game/news-story/44c4f93b2227664eff099d3b305a460d
  25. I thought we'd moved past power outages for the most part! I can't think of a single one at my house since 2011, and that was late at night so eh. If it happens, move on. The game will be there later. Go and get your Monopoly set, play it with the family as per blackout tradition and let it descend into a fight. You know, like normal people... Oh wait, that's just us?
