What would be the effects of the internet shutting down?
The Blackangel replied to killamch89's topic in General Chat
The downfall of society. Businesses would fail, and major corporations would completely collapse. There would be mass anarchy worldwide. We would have to learn to live as I did when I was a kid, before the internet existed. I was 16 before the internet really took off. The major sites we see today didn't exist. Yahoo! wasn't around. Msn.com didn't exist. YouTube didn't exist. AOL didn't exist. Those came much later. It was a much more simple and different time. But now, the internet is a major necessity of life simply because of how dependent we are on it. It's second only to food, air, and water. -
Will we ever discover extraterrestrial life?
The Blackangel replied to killamch89's topic in General Chat
Whether we encounter it or not is irrelevant. It's out there. Whether they encounter us is irrelevant. We're here. From within this solar system, I doubt we'll discover any other life. Half of the planets are gas giants, and the others (with the exception of Earth) are uninhabitable for life as we know it. Granted, there is life out there that requires the conditions of Venus to survive and would die instantly here on Earth. There is life out there that would have to remain deep inside of Jupiter, but die instantly here on Earth. And I'm sure there is life that lives in the vacuum of empty space. We have already seen things like this here on Earth. Look at the life that has been discovered at the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Look at things like water bears. They can literally live in anything. I believe that homo sapien will be extinct 100 years from now. I believe that there is a third world war coming, and that it will be a nuclear, chemical, and biological war. To put it simply, we're going to wipe ourselves out, as well as every other species of life on this planet. So I doubt extraterrestrial life would even want to meet us, let alone spend any time here. -
Do you consider yourself to be a good cook?
The Blackangel replied to killamch89's topic in General Chat
I learned to cook from my grandmother. I cook from scratch, and personally love my own cooking. Typically I could burn water, but occasionally I could get something right if I give it the care and attention it needs. But these days, cooking to me is a frozen pizza in the oven, or something in the microwave. -
I lived in Denver for a short time, and could see the mountains out of my apartment window. But I was also stationed in San Diego and saw the Pacific a lot as well, and have cruised around the Caribbean a lot. Throwing my fear of water aside, I think I would go with ocean. It's more calming in my opinion, and just watching and listening to the waves, while sitting in the surf is extremely soothing. Granted, being in Missouri I'm landlocked. But I still enjoy the ocean, and we have some pretty bigass lakes here as well.

It all depends on what I'm eating. In some cases I prefer to dine in. Other's I just want it delivered. And some days I just want it delivered based on my mood, because I just don't want to have to deal with the hassle of getting out.

I'm going to alter this a little bit, but it's going to be the same answer to some. Cobbler. It's almost the same thing as a pie, but made differently. And it has so much of a better taste. I can't get enough.

Ice cream definitely. Snow cones are just plain ice with a little bit of flavored water sitting at the bottom of the cup. There's no enjoyment to be had. Give me my chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and get the hell out of my way. Try to reach for it and you'll be pulling back a nub.

Who'd You Rather Face: Ninjas or Pirates?
The Blackangel replied to killamch89's topic in General Chat
If the only outcome is death, I would go with the ninja as well. Typically I wouldn't even know I had been attacked. It would just be lights out, and I never would have known it was coming. Pirates on the other hand like to toy with their victims until they get bored with them, then throw them overboard. That is the romanticized depiction of pirates. Real pirates of today just steal. If we're talking Somali pirates, they kill and steal. It's a dangerous thing either way, but at least with the ninja it would be quick. -
Joe Manchin betrays the Democratic party
The Blackangel replied to The Blackangel's topic in Debate, Politics, & Religion
In all honesty, are you surprised? We all saw it coming. The republiKKKlans have been going out of their way to undermine and block everything the Democratic party has tried to do, whether it's beneficial or not. They praised Adolf for meeting with Putin, but attacked and daemonized Biden for doing the same thing. Even if a bill was introduced that would make them all trillionaires, but would at the same time protect LGBTQ+ rights, they would all vote no to block it. They refuse to cooperate. They want an autocracy under Adolf. They want none to have rights unless they are Adolf worshipers. They basically want to copy North Korea and have the same thing here, except have themselves protected from his bigotry. Until we get them under control, by whatever means are necessary, we're not going to make a whole lot of progress. Biden and Harris are working their asses off to try to get this country back on track, but being blocked at every turn by the republiKKKlans. In a recent poll, 75% of foreigners said they believe the US will do the right thing. This time last year it was 17%. In the span of 6 months under the new administration, the percentage has gone up another 60% of people. But the republiKKKlans will try to tell you that that's a lie. -
RDR2 also awards you for showing mercy. It ups your honor rating and often gets you unique items that you otherwise could not have gotten. And if you help out people who need it, such as the man who got bitten by a snake and the guy with his leg in a jaw trap, they will pay for whatever you want in the shop they're sitting by later on when they're in town. That can get you free outfits, or free guns.

What’s something you really resent paying for?
The Blackangel replied to killamch89's topic in General Chat
It's different here in the states. I've bought a lot of stuff from overseas, and the only issue I have had is the amount of time it takes to get the item. For example a few years ago I bought a couple PocketStations from Japan, since they weren't released in the US. They were the only way to get certain items in FF8. This was before the remaster. They were fairly priced, and the shipping was fair as well. It took about 2½ months or so before they arrived. Coming from overseas, they had to go through customs, and checked to make sure they weren't carrying something illegal. I also bought some contacts recently from another site that I had to sign for when they came. I don't have a problem paying for the shipping as long as it's a fair price and shown beforehand. If it's not shown before you buy and sprung on you when you have no option to change your mind, that's when I get pissed. -
What was the worst purchase you’ve ever made?
The Blackangel replied to killamch89's topic in General Chat
Considering that I get less than $1000 per month, there's no way I could ever get another van. I was lucky to come up with the money to get this one that I have. I had to sell a lot of shit that I didn't want to let go of. But I had no actual choice. -
What’s the best lesson you’ve learned from a work of fiction?
The Blackangel replied to killamch89's topic in General Chat
People always call me a pessimist. I tell them I'm a realist. -

At the beginning and end of the day number one has always been the only one that cared or looked after number one. No one cares. Everyone is alone, and that will never change. There will be the occasional alliance, but that doesn't equate to caring or concerning about others. You will be alone from the day you're born until the day you die, and no one ever has or ever will care. It's called the human condition. -
I guess you could call it a flipper with a few extra surprises. 😈

Yeah, here we have Battlebots, and I watch it every chance I get. I've even designed a bot of my own, but don't know the first thing about engineering, so I have no hope of building one.

Finally, a man who gets it.
