Executor Akamia got a reaction from Heatman in Do you use cheat codes?
I used to cheat all the time as a kid. Then I eventually realized I don't actually need them, and would only turn on cheat codes for silliness.
I don't see "cheat codes" as such put in games very often anymore. These days, if you want to properly cheat at a game, you need external software. I frown on that. I mean, I guess in a single-player game, do whatever you like, but the moment that crosses into the multiplayer sphere, where other players may be looking for a fair fight, I lose all respect for the person doing it.

Yep. Indeed I have. I think almost everyone who's played a video game has at some point in their lives, especially if they started relatively young. 😂

Final Fantasy XIV
I've been sinking countless hours into this one, trying to level my character's classes as far as I can to unlock their stuff as I go through the main scenario questline. I need a break. 😰 I haven't spent this much time in two weeks on one game since Stellaris... Speaking of which, the Federations expansion is coming out in less than 3 weeks. I'm looking forward to it.

Went back to my inward perfection save. Decided to spare the Determined Exterminator neighboring me. Still alive, and they aren’t enemies anymore since I synthetically ascended. North of me is a Driven Assimilator who eventually cut down one of my neighbors, only to get roadblocked by the Enigmatic Observer Fallen Empire. They shifted gears and began to fight the local Fanatical Purifier instead.

Executor Akamia reacted to StaceyPowers in RP and Logic in MMOs
I was reminiscing with someone recently over an MMO we used to play like a decade ago, and I laughed when I found out that in some respects, the essential conflict is still the same.
Basically, most of the players kill villager NPCs to level up, which then re-spawn. But if one is trying to RP logically, the villagers must be treated like real people. Thus, one might feel compelled to wage a war over the villagers (if playing “good”). But then, all the other players complain that one is being unreasonable by protecting them.
This sort of thing drove me crazy back when I played. I just couldn’t get over how illogical and inconsistent it was to throw a fit in an RPG when someone (like me) behaves in an IC way by protecting the villagers. Yes, it makes leveling harder, but that’s an OOC complaint. But somehow, I could never get these people to grok that.
Does anyone else get annoyed when they see inconsistencies in how other players RP in MMOs?

A friend got me the full game – expansions and all – as a gift yesterday. So I'm happy. 😄

My original 4 MechWarriors are now hilariously terrifying snipers. I've been nailing headshots using Precision Strikes with relatively great consistency. The most consistent among them would be any MechWarrior I stick in my MAD-3R Marauder, which has an innate Called Shot bonus that stacks with the bonus MechWarriors with high Tactics skill get. So far, that's been Dekker, but I have a suspicion that this would be more heat efficient if I ran Glitch in that 'Mech instead, as she has a skill that allows her to ignore hostile cover bonuses if she only fires one weapon. And since one PPC to the face is all that's needed to put most 'Mechs down if they don't have damage reduction...

Executor Akamia reacted to skyfire in What would it take to get you to play an online game?
I think it can be fun though, nothing serious about online gaming. It has it's ups and downs like toxic players etc.

I’m giving it a try as a friend of mine wants me to play it with them. Admittedly, the only reason I even bothered was because of a class available in one of the expansions called the Machinist, which gives me a gun, as well as a robot at the endgame.
To be honest, the easiest way to convince me to try anything is to show me there’s any combination of robots, mechs, and spaceships. There are exceptions, but as a rule, that is enough to get me to try a game. I’m glad I enjoy the gameplay well enough, though; I haven’t enjoyed a proper MMORPG in a very long time!

No Man's Sky
Decided to give it a try, since apparently it's a good game now. 😂 Because I'm a glutton for punishment and I adore roguelikes, I chose to go directly to permadeath mode.
I got killed twice in the first 10 minutes by the hazardous environment. Third time was the charm, though, and I'm finally throwing together a shelter and some other things that should help keep me alive. Early game is Hell, apparently. Especially if you're like me and you don't know what you're doing.
Normally I'd play on a lower difficulty first and get acquainted with how the game plays, but the roguelike option was just too much for me to pass up. I had to do that first, or I'd never forgive myself. 😂

Visually it looks even better than Mario Kart 8, but I think that is the problem with most racing games, their online presence is always weak, except of course for Mario Kart.
It takes a while, I havent been playing it as mush as I did before, but its an awesome game, and with little girding you can unlock up to 2 legends for free. My only problem with the game is that the only cool skins are the legendary and those are really hard to come by.
My last game played was Red Dead Online, its really cool although everything in the market is super expensive and resources are hard to obtain but other than that I like that it has its own story mode. Also I just finished Uncharted 2 among thieves, really cool game, I'm probably going to start and finish Uncharted 3 this week.

Decided to play one last galaxy before it's time for Federations to release... which, honestly, likely won't be for another couple of months yet.
Anyway, I've decided to give playing a regular hive mind a try. Last time I played a hive mind, it was a Devouring Swarm, the most powerful type of hive, and necessarily so as it is a genocidal variant that does not have any diplomatic options at all. However, I seem to have gotten the worst neighbors in history, as both my neighboring empires are Fanatical Purifiers. This is gonna be an eventful playthrough... 😂

Team Sonic Racing (Xbox One)
Was just knocking out some Grand Prix races in the single player mode. Last I checked, the online mode is a ghost town... It's honestly quite saddening, because I think it'd be great fun to race online in teams. The game's not even a whole year old yet, how did it die so fast...?

Salvaged some really powerful 'Mechs in the campaign, and I've nearly maxed out my most elite MechWarriors. Gonna be rotating them out for newer pilots as I do so.
One of the 'Mechs I salvaged was a Thunderbolt TDR-5S. The thing reminds me of the Clans' Summoner OmniMech to a degree, which probably won't be seen in the game until the timeline advances to around 3050, when Operation REVIVAL happens. Anyway, the Thunderbolt's stock loadout has a grievous design flaw; ammo in the center torso. For those who don't know, ammo explosions can happen if critical hits occur in an area where ammo is stored on a 'Mech. If this happens, the place the ammo was stored in is destroyed immediately. That's why you never, ever put ammo in the center torso area, as an ammo explosion there will kill the 'Mech immediately. So yeah, I moved that really quick, put it in one of the side torsos. I don't yet know if I'm gonna have a real opportunity to field this thing safely, but it's there in reserve for when I need it. 😄

Can you explain that? To the best of my knowledge Kratos wasn't a real man, or even a part of ancient Greek mythology for that matter.

I beat it. I think the Wily Machine and Wily Capsule fights of this one were the easiest I’ve fought since Mega Man 10, which I beat forever ago as all three playable characters and haven’t played since.

Executor Akamia reacted to The Blackangel in Close Minded Gaming
I think I'm a culprit here of this though process. What I mean by this, is when you get to a point that you have certain games in your library, mainly your favorite ones that you play and replay all the time, that you lose interest in trying new games unless it's a part of a favorite series. But lets forget buying new editions to favorite series' for the moment. Does else anyone feel that they're in that situation? I have tons of games that have some of the best gamer reviews that I haven't played because I don't know if I want to get involved in something new. I think I have a stick-with-what-you-know attitude. For example, I have Skyrim. I've never once even put it in the machine. I've played maybe 10 minutes of The WItcher 3. These are all the games I have on PS3:
Assassins Creed 1,2,3
Bound By Flame
Castlevania Lords Of Shadows 1,2
Dantes Inferno
Dark Kingdom
Darksiders 1,2
Dark Souls 1,2
Demons Souls
Devil May Cry 1,2,3,4
Dishonored (2 Copies)
Dragon Age II
Dragon Age Inquisition Deluxe Edition
Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition (DA Origins, DA Origins Awakening)
Dragons Dogma
Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion
Elder Scrolls V Skyrim
Fallen Angel Sacred II
Family Guy Back To The Multiverse
Final Fantasy X, X2
God Of War 1,2,3, Chains Of Olympus, Ghost Of Sparta, Ascension
Heavenly Sword
Hunted: The Demons Forge
Infamous Collection (Infamous, Infamous2, Infamous: Festival Of Blood)
Lair
Ninja Gaiden 3 Razors Edge
Reckoning Kingdom Of Amalur
Rise Of The Argonauts
Risen 2 Dark Waters
Risen 3 Titan Lords
South Park The Stick Of Truth
Thief
Two Worlds
Have I played any of them? A couple. Most of them I've never even played once. I had full intentions of playing them when I bought them. The same goes for the Xbox One and PS4 games I have. But I've never touched them. I don't know why. I think it's more of a fear of the unknown thing for me. Like I'm scared of trying something new. I spent the first 18 years of my life being beaten daily by my drunk bastard sperm donor (aka father), and told to the extreme how worthless I am by my narcissistic egg donor (aka mother). When that's your life you end up afraid of new things. So I don't know if I'm just being close minded, or if I'm truly afraid of trying something new. Or maybe I'm afraid of liking it if I do.
Anyone else feel this way?

I think there must be games where we get to literally customize the characters from scratch.

Bought the latest expansion today, decided to take some of the 'Mechs included in it for a test run during Skirmish Mode against a lance I had built prior to acquiring said expansion. I lost, but only barely; the OpFor only had my custom Warhammer WHM-6R left, and all that was left of my lance was my custom Flea FLE-15. If any of my heavier 'Mechs were still in fighting shape by the end, I feel confident I could have beaten my old lance; however, I honestly feel the odds were stacked in said old lance's favor.
I'm still learning the best ways to modify 'Mechs in the game. It's not quite how it works in MechWarrior Online, and it's not even in the same ZIP code of familiarity as the MechWarrior 4 MechLabs, which I worked with for years whereas I have very little experience with MechWarrior Online's lab. 😂
