I agree with @kingpotato. I too played violent video games at a young age, and wasn't affected adversely in any way. I think it depends more on a child's personality and maturity level than their age. So different ages for different kids. Hopefully their parents know them well enough to make sensible choices.

I think you said it right. It's fine for children of any age to play video games, as long as it's appropriate for the child's age. I don't think you would want your 6 year old playing GTA of Call Of Duty. Or even something that seems cartoony like Conker's Bad Fur Day. Which I might add started out as a child's game until the developers got perverted.
But pretty much any Mario, Zelda, or Sonic game would be fine for pretty much any age. Then there's games that are aimed for more of a younger age bracket like Banjo Kazooie. I'll admit, I'm 37 and LOVE Banjo Kazooie. But hell I still watch Fraggle Rock, so go figure.

I agree and thank the heavens they aren't going to change their stance towards microtransactions anytime soon.

I agree Nintendo seems to be the company that values the quality of their content, except maybe how the current online nintendo service is going on with the lack of a good interface and content but aside from that you rarely get to see microtransactions on a Nintendo game.

Different strokes I suppose. For my part, I played MechAssault and it felt too much like an arcade game for my taste, whereas MechWarrior felt more immersive for me. Make no mistake, though; MW can definitely be fast-paced, especially when you're in a firefight against many 'Mechs at once. I kinda miss the rush of urban 'Mech combat (not to be confused with UrbanMech combat. 😜) where I'm moving from cover to cover in my Timber Wolf or Marauder, taking shots at the enemy Assault 'Mechs who think they're the kings of the battlefield.
And yeah, that was great. 😂

Certain megastructures in Stellaris come out too late in most games for them to be particularly useful in a multiplayer run and, to a lesser extent, even a regular single-player run. Particularly, I’m referring to the “Galactic Wonders”, which are megastructures locked behind the ascension perk of the same name. Before 2.3, this was every megastructure in the game that wasn’t Gateways or Habitats – the latter being locked behind the Voidborne ascension perk instead at the time – but from 2.3 onward this is only the Dyson Sphere, Matter Decompressor, and Ring Worlds, with the rest of the megastructures, including Habitats, becoming regular technologies.
Dyson Spheres and Matter Decompressors in particular are huge boons on someone’s economy, providing 4000 Energy Credits and 2000 Minerals per month at completion, respectively, which is useful for industrial purposes such as alloy or consumer good production. A Dyson Sphere alone will provide enough energy that you will find yourself with more income than you’ll know what to do with, and you’ll likely find yourself actively trying to find ways to spend it all, in or out of wartime. The problem is that these things are lategame techs that, when researched, still take a lot of time to build, even with bonuses to megastructure build speed. You’re likely to have defeated the endgame crisis already before you’ve finished any of these.
Now, to be fair, they are actually quite useful in the postgame if you’re someone who likes to play even after the endgame crisis is defeated. After all, you’re likely to want to do such things as kicking over the local Awakened Empires (because most of them are colossal jerks anyway) and there are also various Leviathans floating around that you might be looking to hunt down. But in regular game settings, they aren’t really worth the time investment.

I also have played a number of Mechwarrior games and the systems are very detailed but the slow pace of the combat is my only real issue with the games. I know it's a more realistic take with physics and all that but I prefer the fast-paced action of Armored Core, Zone Of The Enders and MechAssault (really hope they make another game).
In Transformers Fall Of Cybertron, I loved how jealous Megatron was of Optimus for having Metroplex on his team. He tried at every opportunity to destroy Metroplex because he didn't want Optimus having a bigger, more badass robot on his team.🤣🤣

It’s probably true in the US that employers strongly frown on gamers regardless of the skills one can pick up from video games, but in other countries, gaming’s benefits have been recognized for years. In South Korea, their air force actually had their own StarCraft esports team at one point. For all I know, they still do.

Actually I meant Transformers Fall Of Cybertron and my favorite character was Metroplex because of his introduction and his persona. The decepticons were absolutely terrified of him.

You would love it here then. there's a shitload of deer farms around here. People raise 5-6 bucks, and around 30 does on average. They let them breed every year, to keep their numbers up, and sell off the fawns when they're big enough. Some people want the meat, others want to try to keep it as a pet, and probably 100 other reasons. It's expensive as hell to raise them, and as a result it's expensive to buy one. But they're there. There's even a few elk and moose farms. It's crazy lucrative.

I’m lucky enough to have played Papers, Please and it’s an excellent indie game. Thing is, it’s not meant to be a super fun game per se, as it’s more an experiential game with a message. It’s such an interesting game, and like @Executor Akamia mentioned above, it’s sort of meant to feel like work in a way. That’s kind of the point. Definitely worth checking out but just a warning: It’s not a very “fun” game in the traditional sense. But it’s brilliant nonetheless.

I like to look at reviews before buying a game, I tend to look a several reviews before making up my mind, I had my fare share of times when I purchased games with my instinct and it did not end well 😆, but that doesnt mean I will base my experience of the game on the review alone.

    Yes.
For the purposes of the culinary arts, I suppose it is a vegetable, but in botany, I’m pretty sure it’s considered a fruit. Don’t quote me on that, though; I’m not an expert. If a botanist tells you otherwise, I’d defer to their judgment.
Avengers: Endgame. Before this movie came out, my answer would be Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

I'm not sure I could make it. I would need a passport first, which I don't currently have. And that's assuming I get picked in the first place... lol

I recently received this wonderful news in my news feed. You and I can now team up with these pro players and compete in the WCG’s Grand Finals on July 18-21,2019 at Xi’an, China.
Now WAIT A MINUTE! Who are these Pro-players and what race they specialize in?
    A. Alex “Neeb” Sunderhaft
    >> Nationality: United States
    >>Race: Protoss
    B. Cho "Maru" Seong Ju
    >>Nationality: Korea
    >>Race: Terran
    C.  Riccardo “Reynor” Romiti
    >>Nationality: Italy
    >>Race: Zerg
    D. Huang “Cyan” Min
    >> Nationality: China
    >>Race: Protoss
They said that only four (4) fans will be lucky to compete along with these Pro-players. You don’t have to worry, because WCG will provide your flight and hotel. How cool is that?
Anyways. I will register for this one and for those who are interested: http://www.wcg.com/news/view/614 I really thought SC2 won’t be part in WCG but wish do come true.

Executor Akamia got a reaction from StaceyPowers in What are some of the best slow-burn video games?
Just about every 4X game you can think of is slow to get started. Sid Meier's Civilization, Stellaris, Space Empires... These games are long and slow to start, to the point that I'm pretty convinced the entire genre is this by definition.
The problem with games like these is that you need a lot of time on your hands to be able to commit to them, at least if you want to play multiplayer, especially with more than one other person, which IMO is the most interesting side of these types of games. Of course, in single-player, you can play at your own pace and be just fine throughout, which is also quite fun.

    Monster Hunter World (Xbox One)
Did some hunts with a very close friend of mine. Weekly bounties, most of them. After he had to go, I finished up my bounties.
I did something I rarely do throughout the day. I went into each hunt with a different weapon. While my favorite weapons will always be Sword & Shield and (as of World) the Gunlance, when taking the Hunting Horn out with me on a solo hunt, I had been reminded just how much power that thing has behind it. I was hunting Dodogamas for the weekly bounty, and I didn't even need to sharpen before I took it out. (Don't ask how that's supposed to work with a blunt weapon...)
I imagine I'd have had similar results bringing a Hammer to that particular hunt, but I'm still amazed at how effective the Hunting Horn actually is. I hear people often underestimate the thing, or just misunderstand it outright. In some ways, I prefer it over the Hammer as a blunt weapon. It's got better reach, for one.
I wanna go through and master each and every one of the weapon types the game has to offer. All these varying playstyles are a lot of fun.

    StarCraft II
Leveling up the Egon Stetmann co-op commander, a Terran character from StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty who takes to the battlefield in this mode with the robotic Mecha Zerg Swarm. Therefore, the game treats him as if he was a Zerg commander.
He's a pretty fun commander, but he has some issues.
