This topic is already starting to sound like the "Rules" from Scream... Anyway... One thing that does drive me nuts about Braveheart is the portrayal of Robert the Bruce. He didn't betray William Wallace at Falkirk. Hell, he wasn't even there. He actually grew up in the English court, so if her betrayed anyone it was England. At Bannockburn in 1314, he wasn't all dressed up in fancy armour either, he was actually armoured for something suitable for "reconnaissance" only and armed only with a small axe. An English Knight named Henry de Bohun spotted Bruce in this "disadvantaged" state with light armour and riding a small horse and charged. Bruce held his ground until the last second before side stepping and whacking Henry de Bohun with that small axe right between the eyes, both killing him and breaking the axe in the process in one of the most amazing combat baits in history. Bruce actually had to sit out the rest of the battle because he no longer had any means to defend himself.

Anyone buying a new switch now may as well buy the OLED model. If Nintendo had any intention of releasing a so-called "Switch Pro" the OLED model would have been that. We will not see a hardware upgrade from Nintendo until they come out with a whole new console.

Now that have finished watching the video, I must say thanks for sharing @Techno, great documentary. And of course hats off the Stuart Brown for creating it. Not only was it interesting, detailed and brilliantly researched, it was also great in it's presentation. Showing all the displayed information in the style of a microfilm projector was inspired, a brilliant idea.

@Justin11 Before you get tempted to keep arguing with @Crazycrab, might I suggest you do what you should have to being with, but clearly didn't do and that's watch the video in @Techno's OP and/or do a little research. All that you are inputting to this thread is load of assumptions without putting in effort into actually figuring out if they are correct. As a result, it's not exactly suppressing that every single one of those assumptions, from the Atari 2600 ( BTW, as @Crazycrab pointed out, there have been serval different Atari consoles, so you're going to have to start being more specific.) being the first home console to pong being "ahead of it's time" when games like Tennis for Two and the very similar tennis game on the Brown Box both existed before. Again, things you would know if had bothered to watch the video or do your own research. I know the video is an hour long, but if you can't be bothered to watch it or do your own research you have no business commenting this thread. The bare minimum respect you are expected to show the OP of a topic (In this case, that being @Techno) is to observe all the content in the post by reading it in full and watching whatever video clips are included. If you can't be bother to do that, don't reply. Nobody creates topics on this forum to give you a new blank space to help you add your tally.

Losing save data is something amongst my worst nightmares. If I was willing to loose all the save data in a game, It's unlikely I would have played that game in the first place. To be honest, I can't think of a time when I lost an entire game saves through some sort of problem, but there has been times where I lost hours of progression and it hurt.

There's already a game whare you work at something you would rather not be doing as apposed to playing video games in order to be able to afford to play video games. It's called life, and it sucks. The whole point of video games is to be a form of escapism from life. I'm sorry, but the concept here is ludicrous. I might be more warm to this if the arcade games you "buy" by "working" in the game were actual arcade classics, but as far as I tell they're not, I think there're made up.

New Burnout game from Criterion? Maybe, but probably not for a while.
Shagger replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
@Crazycrab pretty much said it. You would have to look hard to find someone who loves the Burnout franchise more than me, but I do not want this to happen simply because EA will cock it up like they did with Burnout Paradise. EA don't even want people to remember the Burnout Games on PS2 that were all about offline multiplayer racing, they want to push it as always online, live service garbage. I'd have to double check, but I'm fairly certain Burnout Paradise had DLC's than it had tracks. Burnout Paradise killed the arcade racer and Criterion can kick it all they want, it will remain dead. -
Video games that had scratch and sniff? Huh, what? 😕

Anyone who knows anything about Leisure Suit Larry would not want to smell anything associated with it. -
Let me get this straight, in this game you have to perform momentous chores in launderette to then have the right to play arcade machines? What's the point of that? Just give me the god damb arcade games! This is stupid.

After a 3 year study conducted by Newcastle and Loughborough Universities, they have reported the loot boxes in video games cause "financial and emotional harm" to children. The report also acknowledges that the same manipulation found in licenced gambling are used to intice players to spend. They have recommended that games with such systems be regulated so only over 18 year old can buy them and that premium currency be replaced with direct currency shower in, for example in £'s. Full story from Eurogamer. Damb right they should. We're at a point now where governments and industry regulators like PEGI cannot ignore this any longer.

And that is not a typo. A customer send thier Steam Deck to Valve for repair, but they got more than they bargained for when the Steam Deck was sent. In a bizzare blunder the Turkey Fryer was sent from to same repair centre and back to the wrong customer. Full story from PCGamesn. Whomever it was that had to do without thier turkey Fryer over Thanksgiving might not see the funny side, but the rest of us are free to lap this up. Still, it is interesting to find out that valve don't repair thier own Steam Deck's and send them to a 3rd party repairer. All is well and the Turkey Fryer will find it's way back to its rightful owner in time for Christmas. The parties involved will be look back at this and laugh, but the rest of us can laugh right now.

I wasn't aware of a direct connection. Neverwinter is a free-to-play MMO based upon the Neverwinter Nights series of RPGs that themselves are based upon Dungeons & Dragons. However, having done a little research in the wake of your question, I now see that The Neverwinter Saga is a saga written in the forgotten realms campaign world of D&D, a part of the Legend of Drizzt series (from Wikipedia): So whilst I don't think he was directly involved (What you might be thinking of is How R.A. Salvatore Helped Bring Icewind Dale to Games Again for Dark Alliance), but it seems like Neverwinter Nights, and thus Neverwinter, are based on his work. I must say thank you for the question, It helped me learn something new.

Haven't for a while. I was a game leader and moderator in another community for a while that included leading that community's guild in Neverwinter and hosting other events. I enjoyed it, but that community is sadly now a shadow of it's former self.

RBG is arbitrary, it's just a pure aesthetic and nothing more. Backlit keyboards have a purpose as helps people use them in low light, but they don't have to be RGB. Honestly, I could live with or without it.

Should all sports games jump to a live service model?
Shagger replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
I've been saying the same thing for years, but there's no way they will actually do it. Partly because contracts from the NHL, FIFA or whatever sports body they're in contract with probably call for yearly releases, but mostly because idiots still buy the game year on year, happily getting fleeced every time. Not to mention all the bullshit one would associate with a live service game is already there, so why not charge the cost of a brand new game year on year top of it all? -
This isn't part the official sound track of the game, this something created by a sperate entity partially inspired by the game (It says a much in the description of the video). Because of that, I'm afraid it doesn't count. It is superb though, so thanks for sharing.

Maybe I'm not quite underranding this and maybe things like Backloggd take it a step further. GOG Galexy pretty does this very thing, and it's free. It would be helpful if actually put up some links to some of these services and/or articles, reviews and other information about them.

First, a link to the story about Jake Snipes from a legitimate source. https://www.ign.com/articles/god-of-war-ragnarok-has-a-side-quest-that-is-a-beautiful-tribute-to-a-developer-who-passed-away It's nice that they did this. I have the game, but having difficulty finding the time to play it. I like what I've seen so far though.

Tales of Berseria. For a game that came out in 2017, it's pretty poor. The art style and overall design is great, but the graphics wouldn't impress even if it was on an XBox 360 or PS3. A great game, but it looked so out of date.

And it was great, actually. They created a fun, gothic story with some real, legitimate drama, superb acting from pretty much everyone and they really nailed the sardonic sense of humour perfectly. The really nailed the main character and brough her bang up to date by very cleverly leaving Wednesday herself stuck in the past. Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday exactly as we know and love her with her quite and sarcastic, yet slightly menacing and creepy demurer. The show also isn't afraid to get a little bit violent which I think works. It also looks superb. the cinematography and visual style work well because the establish a great contrast to our main characters in a subtle, but very effective way. Tim Burton is known for his gothic and morbid visual style as well as aforementioned contrast that to something more bright and optimistic and his fingerprints are all over this. The music is interesting because, as far as I can tell, its made up almost entirely of classical instrumental covers of famous pop and rock sones. They managed to work in Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" into there as well, extra points for that. Regardless of the source for the music, it suits well with the intended tone. It does not, however, make up for the fact that delightful Adam's Family theme song is nowhere to be found here, which is a shame. The story is intelligent without leaving the viewer behind. There is some pacing problem in that I think the first half of the series maybe a bit slow with the second half maybe a fast, but it draws you in and keeps you engaged. It's not "laugh out loud" hilarious, like I said its dry and sardonic and it's more content to "pick it's moments" rather that drown you in comedy. This was a smart move as the drama needs time in this to set and make it's impact, and it does with the comedy prompting nice breaks in between. Issues? Well, not much but there was one thing that did bother me. This series is obviously set in another universe whare mythical creatures like Vampires, Werewolves and Sirens exist and are know in society as "outcasts". In fact, the series is set in a boarding school for outcasts. This bothered me because, to me, The Adams Family was always about an abnormal and morbid family interacting with a normal, innocent world. A strange family mixing in with a normal world, but the world here is itself strange. It's not like the series has a particularly imaginative or fresh take on these creatures, them and thier differences to normal people and how they interreact with this world is barley even focused on, so I really didn't see the purpose of this. This does work it's way in a big way into the story in ways I won't spoil, but that's an issue for me as well because it feels like thier changing The Adams Family to fit the plot rather than creating a plot to fit the characters. Still, it's a great series that's well worth a watch and I would highly recommend it.

I didn't care much for the first film. It was impressive in terms of it's visuals and scale, but the story was preachy, clichéd and just not interesting. It's not like I'm not at all interested in seeing this movie, but I'll happily wait.

I've move the topic to the music sub-forum. On topic, my tastes have changed drastically. I was really into house and dance in my early-mid teens, but I got into metal in a big way in my late teens and haven't looked back. I still like a bit harcore house like acid house, but metal brings the same level on intensity but with better songscraft and more merit in terms of musicianship. I know it seems a little odd, but it honestly felt like natural progression to me.

No, they're more expensive because it's a new format of SSD storage, an emerging technology, not because there's more space on it. Whips the same format, a lager SSD is naturally going to case more than a smaller one, but you can get SSD's that cost less despite being lager because the format is different.

Getting back on topic. 6/10 I get what you're saying about it, it's good theme, just that memorable to me. Honestly, I think it may have worked better as a movie theme because it's one of those musical pieces that would help set a mood during opening credits to lead onto the firsts scene, but in a game the first thing you come across is the main title screen and menu, something you're busy on and will probable blast past in few moments with really letting the music do it's thing. A nice piece of music, but not great for a game, even a game as story heavy as Mafia II.

Correct, and that's why I'm removing his post (This does mean editing your post as well @Tonberry, I hope you don't mind). This is @Justin11 posting a reply without paying attention to what the topic is, something that happens a lot for him and it's been getting worse recently. @Justin11, I can't say anything to you I haven't already said in my numerous PM's and warnings before, that's why I'm doing this on the public forum this time, see if that makes a difference. Start paying attention to what you post, you know, like when people do when the actually care about what the post, or you will no longer be allowed to post on VGR at all.
