StormyFire Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 I just recently reinstalled Linux and have been getting some games to work with WINE. It's been pretty decent so far. Have you tried gaming on Linux?
killamch89 Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 No - I have never tried it because it does take quite a bit know-how to get games up and running on Linux. If it was simpler to use, I think it would have a bigger number of gamers.
Head_Hunter Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 It's simply on the low popularity consoles like PS, Xbox, Nintendo and even mobile gaming is better off. I only know about Linus browser and not it's video game platform.
Justin11 Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 It will be cool for me to know more about Linus video game platform. If it's the one like Nintendo switch or like PS Vita device.
Heatman Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 Not at all and I'm not sure if it's something that's powerful and influencing enough to get me into giving it a try.
Empire Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 I have not, I have used the OS before but not for gaming. Depends on the game genre. For 3D-intensive games, I find that, on the occasions where you can find a Linux port at all, it was usually optimized for DirectX and/or Windows, so its performance suffers significantly, on the order of 25% or more. This is not inherent to the Linux architecture. It's just that the market gravitates towards Windows for consumer-level applications, among which are games, because it's simple to use despite being an engineering disaster.

Microsoft Windows have been very dominant in the market to the extent that it's going to be very difficult for other companies to give them stiff competition. It doesn't mean that Linux isn't good. I think my Dell years back came with LINUX OS.
Scorpion Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Yes, I've tried gaming on Linux! It's been a fun experience, but some games work better than others.
