RL complexity that doesn’t translate well into games?

We talked in another thread about how walking feels weirdly sluggish in video games. I've also noticed that some actions seem overly complex/slow/tedious in video games. Like ... if you had to go to the trouble of holding down a button and pulling a joystick to simulate opening a drawer, that would be weird and break immersion over just clicking (at least to me), even though clicking is less realistic. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Honestly, it depends on the game. For instance, in Skyrim RL complexity wouldn't really work because you have magic, magical items and other supernatural beings just walking around everywhere so RL complexity wouldn't really suit this kind of game.

If you're talking about holding down a button, when you rope something in RDR2, you have to keep the button held down until you get up to it. If you let go of the button the rope lets go. That's a pain in the ass.

Funny you should mention that as Heavy Rain starts exactly like that holding down buttons and gesturing frantically to perform basic everyday tasks.

Yeah, that really was a big frustration in RDR2. There was no way of getting around it because I actually tried a lot of things but nothing worked.
