    Okami

Anyone here remember Okami? It was a beautiful game, that I don't understand doesn't get more praise these days. It came out on the PS2 and I think the Gamecube maybe? I forget, but either way, the game was stunning visually and got rave reviews because of it. I sadly only played it for about a weekend, as my friend brought it over one time and we played it all throughout the weekend. With that being said, I wish we had more games like this, that utilize art as a tool.

  2. This is a bit of interesting news, IGN has reported here - IGN about Sony filing a patent where spectators can mess with you while you're playing in VR. This could add more options to VR games, if there is a possible human threat to worry about. It more so looks like something you can use to vote for other players, but also be in the same room, if that makes sense? Either way, it's an interesting patent that I'd like to see implemented with VR one of these days. Here's an image of the patent from IGN.

  3. I hate, HATE when I start a new mobile game and it forces you through one of those mandatory, extremely hand-holdy tutorials. You know the kind that walks you through every mechanic of the game, with huge arrows point to an option and won't let you click anything else? If a game has one of those I get pretty tempted to just uninstall it right then and there.

  4. Well then you'd love Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Ghost Recon Breakpoint. There is a mode in those games called "unguided exploration" where the game doesn't give you quest markers for most missions, instead it describes the place where you need to go. And you need to find it using the map and geographic features or nearby landmarks. I loved that mode, it is much more immersive than blindly following a quest marker. Plus it encourages exploration.

  5. Funny, I don't recall recording anything for a video game.

  6. Essentially it comes down the the story the game is trying to tell. Most final fantasy games tell a story. The characters, their losses and gains, overcoming challenges and such. It is appropriate if a lead character has a voice in that setting. Now the elder scrolls games are games that have stories, but leaves it to the player to make their own. The character doesn't have a voice outside of what the player wishes them to, and in that setting it is appropriate.

    Super Mario Run

Fantastic game. People who say the game is only an hour long (because they completed world 6-4) are lying. The game is about collected the hard to get coins. Get those and you open more levels. Additionally, Toad Rally will last dozens of hours. It's innovative, a great way of playing head to head Mario and uses a scoring system that I feel will change head to head gaming for Mario for years to come.

  8. Both @Patrik and @StaceyPowers have been referencing open word games in this thread, and honesty, I think that's a little unfair because these types of games by their nature get can't tell their stories in the same purposefully structured and deliberately paced manner a more liner game can. There are open world games that make it work, but they usually do so by barring of side activities and side stories from the main story in a very rigid manner and telling a less complex story that's easier to relate to. So I admire game companies who create open world games that do try to blur those lines between side quests and main story a little and try to tell a more challenging story.

  9. I could be wrong, but I've heard that Wolfenstein 3D is banned in Germany because there are Nazis in it. Even though you're literally fighting the Nazis. Go figure.

  10. The republiKKKlan party doesn't even stand by its own people. During the terrorist attack on the Capitol they were intending to execute Mike Pence. he and his wife are now homeless and have been couch surfing in Indiana for a while. A friend sent me this article about it. I find it funny as hell that people at Mar-A-Lago are fighting to keep Adolf out, and Pence is homeless. They're getting what they deserve in my opinion. I've been homeless. i spent 3 years on the street. I know how hard it is. But I can honestly say that these two assholes deserve this.
