Is there a way to maintain a sense of urgency in open world games?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
True, but I don't like to rush through games, even ones that are meant to be rushed through. Sure I will rush through some games, but most of the time I like to chill out and play slowly. I hate rushing and being forced to finish things fast. I like to explore, see the world, and if they made me rush in RDR2, I wouldn't enjoy my time with it probably. -
I do. I have an emulated version of ESPN NFL 2K5 that has updated rosters and stuff. It's still the game from 2004, but it plays great to this day. It's one of my favorite sports games, becuase imo, it was the last best NFL football game to come out, before EA decided to hoard the license for the NFL.

Is there a way to maintain a sense of urgency in open world games?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Yeah, which is why I never got into games where I was timed. I played Driver 1 and 2 and I could do that time limit, but when it comes to anything else, I'd prefer to play at my own pace without a time limit or timer in my face. Hmm, I'll have to check that one out. I'm sometimes slow when I play, so I can see myself freaking out to this. lol -
Oh goodness, I feel like all the streamers I've tuned in to these days, are already growing massively. I would have said PayMoneyWubby, but he's gotten huge as of late. Aside from him, I don't really know of many other video game streamers who aren't yet famous. Maybe Thunder McFadden, but he's more of a caster/esports guy. But I'm sure there are some streamers/channels I am forgetting about.

Do you try to avoid “metagaming” on replays of single player games?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Yeah I have no clue what metagaming is exactly. I looked it up, and from what I can gather, it's more of a thing where games get very serious with the game, and use the game against others. I think. Please correct me if I'm wrong, because I never heard of metagaming outside of what Facebook is doing with their Meta Gaming brand. And I don't think that is the same at all. For me, I just make decisions I think are right. And if I do a different playthrough, maybe I do it differently, or choose the same result. -
Reasons why games are unfinished unless you get a DLC?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Depends on the game. With the Mass Effect series for example, they released free DLC after the third game to correct some of the issues fans had with the ending. This was only done because fans were unhappy their choices resulted in pretty much the same ending, or so I've heard. So, they made a new ending and gave it out for free. But, there are games that come out unfinished, and try to shell out DLC to make extra cash, when their focus should be on making their game better. DLC should only be used to add to an already completed game, not to finish it off. I don't think it's fair to spend $60+ for a new game, beat it and then find out that there's DLC that continues the story. I don't mind if they release DLC that creates a whole new story and is in a new setting, or an updated setting to the base game. But when they literally just add a few missions to the base game, I don't like that. I especially hate when studios announce a game, and show DLC to come out after. Seriously, why not add those characters/items in first before release? It's because they want to keep making money. I get that, but it just feels shady to me. -
What open world games have the best voice acting?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Most modern games have pretty decent voice acting. RDR1, 2, GTA series, Skyrim (sometimes, it has some corny acting at times), and a few others I'm sure. If it's a serious game like RDR2, I like my acting to be fantastic. But if it's a game like Saints Row, I don't care how good or bad the acting is, as long as the game is fun and is good enough to play. These days they have acting unions for voice actors, so games have come a long way. Back in the day when voice acting in games started, it was usually the devs or some actors they got from a theater department at a local community college. Now days professionals are taking things up a notch. -
Does gaming help anyone here who has dissociative issues?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Yeah I'm not sure, that's why I have no clue what to really say on this. From what I read, it's still more to do with the way your think, and how fantasies play into it. But I'm probably wrong on how it all works and maybe dissociative disorders are just general anxieties and other such things. But don't quote me on that, as I'm probably wrong on all of this. I'm still quite confused. -
Honestly, I feel like everything has been done for the most part. I know Sonic is getting a more open world game, but from what i hear it's not going to be as open as we thought. But I think an actual open world Sonic game could work and could revive it some. Another game series I'd like to see with an open world, would probably be some of the horror games, like Silent Hill. If that ever makes a comeback.

BREAKING NEWS: Bandai Namco unannounced games for 2023
Kane99 replied to kingpotato's topic in Gaming News
I'm not a big Bandai Namco fan. I like some games, but most of the games aren't really in my wheelhouse. I am interested in Little Nightmares III, but mainly because I've yet to play the first two. I haven't played a DBZ game in years and I never really got into their fighting games. -
Videogame Franchises that outstayed their welcome?
Kane99 replied to Yaramaki's topic in Gaming Forum
I have to disagree. They may have some stinkers in their history, but they've made a somewhat decent comeback since RE7 and 8 came out. I believe they have done enough to kind of give fans some hope for the future. Because after RE6, I think people expected the worst to come. But they kinda rebounded and are doing much better these days. Plus with their recent remasters becoming fan favorites, it seems as if they can do no wrong. -
It was his gimmick, he was loud, annoying and screamed a lot. I never understood why people thought he was fun to watch back then, but I suppose a bunch of kids were into that kind of stuff. I like the more reserved version of him that he is today. I still don't like his content, but he's at least bearable to listen to when you see him. He still is quite animated with his act, but he's less loud from what I see.

Do you try to avoid a high civilian death toll?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Yeah, and that's the way it should be right? I mean, if no games stopped you from killing a ton, what would be the point? With most open world games, killing multiple people will cause you issues. If a game existed where there was no repercussions for killing, then I think it'd be a boring game because there would be no conflict, no good vs evil type of thing. -
They seem to have a good catalog of indie titles and other such things. Plus with their purchase of Bethesda and some of the others, it's likely we'll see some AAA titles come soon. I do with they released more AAA exclusives of their own, but if the payoff is that we get a ton of great indie titles, or smaller games in general, that may be fine too. I don't know what's on the horizon for Xbox, but I feel like they're going to be fine, even if they don't have many triple A exclusives lined up.

I think VR will be used for a lot more than just personal use. Think about the other applications. Maybe it can recreate a drivers test, or teach you how to fly a plane without having to use an actual plane. I can see that saving money for people who want to learn something, but can't use the actual device to learn it. And I can see VR being used in classroom settings more often. Especially to take tests and go to class.

Skyrim, RDR 1 & 2, GTA series and many other sandbox style games. Assassins Creed series come to mind as well, but I've since taken a break from that series. I'm actually deep into RDR2 right now, taking it as slow as possible. Experiencing the game even more. I recently found out that you could spin your guns, but I need to find the right button combinations to do it.

What's your favorite finishing moves/hit in WWE 2K20?
Kane99 replied to Heatman's topic in Gaming Forum
The game came out a broken mess and the team behind it was in shambles so they never patched it, or at least didn't patch a whole lot. I remember playing Universe mode for a while, and I'd encounter problems where my created wrestler wouldn't show up for the scene, or my opponent wouldn't. And it'd be me or the CPU character flayling around the ring trying to find a wrestler that isn't there. It was a mess. WWE 2K22 is kinda glitchy, but it's a vast improvement. -
The Man of Medan series is made by the same team at Supermassive Games. They also made Until Dawn, which was their major hit that was exclusive to the PS4 and PS4 VR. I never got to play it, but I watched a playthrough and it looked like a good time. Same with the first Man of Medan game, but I haven't checked the other ones yet.

I played life is strange, great game, but idk if it's similar enough. I just want a game where I can build a home, family, have a job, just like the sims essentially, but maybe with more options and modding as well. I don't much care for the graphics, they can be sims like or 3D realistic, as long as it's fun, I'll give it a go.

Yeah I miss it. Wasn't there a recent Road Rash game that came out that didn't do so good? Or am I thinking of a copycat game? I remember their being a road rage type game recently, maybe it wasn't road rage. But yeah, I'd love to see a faithful reboot/remake of that series. Really miss it.

I don't know. I think maybe it's because the new trailer is during the night, so maybe it didn't highlight the effects as much. I'm still really interested in checking it out, but I am going to wait until this goes on sale some more before I consider picking it up. I want to grab it, but I'm being frugal with my money these days.

Aren't NFTs dying out left and right as of late? I've been heard about stories about the fall of NFTs and how they are starting to fail. I don't see any appeal in them, the idea that you can own this digital art, is dumb to me. I know there's more to it than that, but NFTs are now being used in digital game items, like with this dumb console. I get that the reason people like it, is that the NFT is supposed to be the only one like it and it can't be replicated. Which I guess is cool in gaming, but is it really worth it? A digital item that you use for what exactly? They just don't make sense to me.

I know, I just hate that it may take a year or more until it drops on PC. If I'm not mistaken, I think it took like 3 years for God of War to get on PC. I think so, because didn't it come out in 2018? And I feel like it was recently released on the Epic store, like maybe a year ago tops. But yeah, I think when I can spare some funds, I'll be buying God of War on PC to prepare for the next one. 🙂

Does gaming help anyone here who has dissociative issues?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I don't think have that myself. I get comfort from gaming, and relaxing in a fake world. But I don't think I have a dissociative issue or condition. idk. I looked it up, and it seems like it's more about people having issues connecting the dots on reality. That's my take on it. Because I guess people who do have a dissociative condition, are often day dreamers, or people who have active imaginations. That's what I got from a brief search, so don't quote me on any of this. 😄 But in all seriousness, I would say I fantasize about a lot in my head, but I think the issue with people dealing with dissociative disorders, is that they may believe what they are fantasizing about? -
I don't really talk much when I game, unless it's with friends, or I'm in a party chat with friends. Otherwise I'm mostly when I game. I'll maybe say "That's cool" if I see something cool in game. But I rarely say anything unless I'm maybe mad from playing a tough game, or encountering a game breaking glitch.
