  1. And that is largely due to the fact that boys play games a lot more than girls. It keeps your vital senses active and engaged, which strengthens your coordination. Hence most of what gamers engage in seems to yield positive results.
  2. It’s not an addiction to you. It becomes so when you have tasks and activities that you need to get done, but games interfere with them. You find it hard to concentrate on activities during the day, without thinking of the next arcade you want to complete. That right there is addiction.
  3. I think that is normal for anyone to do. Not just games, when I set up profiles for forums I project them as what I am offline. My favorite colors, my skin tone and whatever I really fancy; as much as possible I portray them online.
  4. COD, but only with my homies and friends. When they are gone I go back to my daily routine of work and sleep. This year has had a lot of decline when it comes to games.
  5. He has a problem with shooting police, but not others in the game. Well it better be speculation and not true, whether police or anyone else it’s violent nonetheless. Besides I don’t understand, bad in what way? What is the basis for his view? What exactly makes it bad?
  6. First of all, no offense taken. I even see this an opportunity to have a wider perspective. The games are not to blame (nor books, movies). Rather, the easy access to them. Of the three options: 1. GTA being banned is out of it, doesn’t need further explanation. 2. The kid is not allowed to play, excellent. But he has such easy access to the firearm? One thing I always say about firearms is that they are self-manualled (permit me to use that word). If a five year old sees it, he knows where to hold, in few seconds he’ll discern there is a trigger to pull and to point as well. Like you said, if he had used it on himself the grandmother would have a lot of questions to answer. 3. Right there is the answer. Unless an eight year old could legally get a gun and register it. That incident would never have happened if there was no EASY ACCESS to the firearm. I don’t blame the game or producers, but the fact that kids engage in them. From the experience you gave, we can’t blame the gun. But the easy access to it. That is why they are kids, they don’t get to decide what to wear, when to sleep, what to play. A kid that is exposed to entertainment rated above his age; whatever results from it, the entertainment medium is not to blame. This has been insightful, really.
  7. You made some valid points. Video games truly gets all the blame, while books and movies pose the same threat. But this still validates my point. We should remember that kids imitate what they see and there is the risk of terming it as normal. Its true that when they become adults they won’t necessarily engage in this activities they play, but I don’t want to start mentioning instances when teenagers do unthinkable and horrible things…which they played as a game. In the end, it is all in the hands of parents. There are reasons the restrictions are there, and it would surely make things better as compared to without.
  8. No one has it all easy. At some points in our lives we face problems, stress, anxiety or depression. When we find ourselves in such situation we can use games to improve our reaction to such situations. Stress can be reduced when we engage in our favorite activities. Therefore playing your favorite games can relieve you to a considerable degree. Playing video games also improves mindfulness. So it can be a form of distraction from what you are going through. At least presently you live in the moment and enjoy it.
  9. Games require quick and precise movement of the hands, hence this increases coordination of the senses involved and fine motor skills. It can improve your reaction time to situations and help you make split second decisions. I have particularly noticed this, my crafts and handwork skills are actually better after I have exerted myself in my favorite games. Do you agree?
  10. We all know or have heard of people that are addicted to video games. Or perhaps you might have been at one point before. There are signs gamers exhibit that shows they are addicted. The most common sign is when gaming starts to interfere with other aspects of your life, such as school, work, or relationships. You cannot think of any other thing apart from the game waiting for you to be played. Other signs include spending excessive amounts of time playing games, feeling restless or irritable when you can't play, and neglecting basic needs like sleep and hygiene in order to continue playing. What else would you add?
  11. I lift lightweights to maintain a well toned body. I don’t plan to be John Cena but I should look fit to an extent. I can not bear having more fat than muscles. That is why I watch what I eat as well.
  12. I would want it to live up to its name by being smart. It should do some basic things like recharge itself, charge itself. Is that too much to ask for? What exactly is it smart for if it cannot do those?
  13. Just pay for the premium version, because that can only happen in free games. When you think about it they need to earn some bucks too to keep the game running at least. Ads are definitely annoying, but it’s either you pay or you endure it.
  14. Well mobile devices are getting more powerful every year. We are now having advanced processors and improved displays. Most importantly, the advent of 5G technology has given a huge boost to mobile gaming. Since it allows for faster download speed and lower latency, mobile gaming will become smoother and more immersive.
  15. Mobile gaming affords one the opportunity to play games on the go. There are times you’ll be somewhere bored, you can bring out your phone and keep yourself entertained with your favorite game. Mobile phone developers are not making strong GPUs to allow better gaming experience. map I don’t see it dying ever.
  16. My phone heats a lot when I play COD. So I sit right opposite a standing fan and play. I once saw a meme about someone holding his phone in front of the air conditioner and playing. 😅 Anything to allow us enjoy our mobile gaming.
  17. I listen to Afro pop when I play games most of the time. Listening to music and even singing along while playing helps me focus more. It also engages my other senses so I am not easily bored.
  18. Well one has an edge over another in some instances. The ps5 console is more powerful in my own opinion. It also has a more advanced GPU and a solid SSD compared to Xbox. And Xbox will most probably not be able to match PS marketing.
  19. It was GTA San Andreas on play station 2. I specifically loved racing games so all I basically do is hijack cars and Lorene’s and drive around with no destination in mind. I was so young then that I nearly became addicted. Shooting people? Nope. Driving around aimlessly? Hell yeah!
  20. The toxicity and harassment on social media is a lot to write home about. Trolls and toxic players can use social media to harass other players, which can lead to a hostile environment that discourages new players from joining the community. There is also the use of unwarranted foul language that is exchanged by gamers. These altercations are not pleasant to experience.
  21. Disconnection from the real world I think, but this applies to only problem gamers. There is a little link between gaming and cultural norms as well, and if there is it is mostly portrayed as negative. Our old folks especially can go on to state why it’s bad for individuals and the society, but games is just like the scapegoat. Movies, songs, the news media all have more negative influence than gaming.
  22. The comic you posted up there shows why people seem to choose games as an avenue to escape the problems of the real world. When we are going through tough times we want to hear comforting and soothing words. Words like “you are amazing, you are doing well, good job, fantastic…” But rarely get them (maybe the opposite even) so we seek them in games.
  23. Gaming helps to improve working memory. You encounter a lot of rules and you strive to play based on the established rules. This helps a lot in work as well, you are able to perform your tasks with the rules being sharp in your memory. This is something I noticed in myself a long time ago.
  24. I prefer multiplayer games, that is why I don’t really fancy games that are deeply story oriented. Multiplayer games have a higher replay value. I get different experiences when I play with different kinds of people. There is also this sense of competition and accomplishments it gives me that a single player game does not.
  25. If the graphics in the game is not top notch, then what are we doing? I can’t use my money to purchase a low budget game with poor graphics. It’s either you give the best or nothing at all, and I believe I speak for many.
